The Angry Alpha
The Angry Alpha
HER
— I don't want to carry the weight of her death on my shoulders, Gamma! Vivi will apologize to all of us publicly, confess her crimes, and I will exile her to live in the territory of one of our allies at the lowest rank they have.
— But, Luna!
— Thank our Luna's benevolence, female! I myself would love to hang you by the neck! — Adanir growled.
I ordered the guard to open the cell and bring Vivi out. My intention was to take her as quickly as possible to the mansion courtyard so that her punishment would be implemented before it reached Derik's ears.
Unfortunately, at the exit of the prison area, we were stopped by Derik and his generals. He was furious, as I had never seen before, and not in a good way.
— Derik, I-
— Quiet, female! I have tolerated your misbehavior and neglect of your own health for too long. Beta Tabitha, Gamma female Sunna, take the Luna to her room and stand guard, she is forbidden to leave without my order!
— Derik! You can't do this! I am applying the punishment to one of my females, she must be sent to the pack of one of our allies and-
— Ah, I heard what this bitch did and I will punish her! Guards, shave her head and strip her of all her clothes. Fifty lashes and do not allow her to faint! She must feel every time the whip hits her flesh!
— No! Luna, please, help me! — She screamed in terror as two huge guards grabbed her by the arms and dragged her to the center of the territory.
— Alpha Derik, you can't do this, she's one of my females!
— Are you telling the Alpha what he can or cannot do, female? — He stared at me, there were no good feelings in his eyes, only a lot of anger and resentment.
Tabitha and Sunna held my hand, but I pushed them away.
— I'm not going anywhere! I can't let them whip her, I promised her!
— You promised? — He laughed, a cold, humorless laugh. — Like you promised to behave? Like you promised to stay in the room waiting for me? I'm sorry, Luna Nadja, but your word isn't worth much!
His words were like a punch to my heart. I instinctively took two steps back, that was the first time Derik had hurt me since we marked each other. I wanted to cry, and it was hard to pretend it wasn't hurting in my chest.
His eyes softened for a fraction of a second, but soon anger dominated him again.
— Guards, since the females Beta and Gamma cannot obey a simple order, take my female to my room and lock her in there. No one enters and no one leaves, I want six of you on standby.
The guards exchanged glances and two more confident generals came up to me. I looked for my Gamma, hoping to find him with silver eyes, ready to defend me, but he was calm, he didn't even dare to look at me.
I remembered that his function was my safety, not my satisfaction.
With his back to me, Derik said in a deep, resolute voice:
— Don't worry, Luna, when the wretch's punishment is over, I will send her to Alpha Ares's, he will know what to do with her!
My heart ached so much, seeing the Alpha so angry and disappointed with me. I was sad about everything that happened, about Vivi's punishment, about the way he treated me, but I was also angry and hurt. Angry for treating me so badly in front of so many people, and angry for being sad and missing him.
The generals who escorted me to the room said that the Alpha was distraught when he received the news that I had been attacked and that he was going to find the aggressor in prison alone. The general reported the information that reached his ears, and it seemed much more serious than what had actually occurred.
I asked who would have twisted the information so much, and he couldn't answer me, only reinforcing the fact that he had never seen the Alpha so distressed. He said that Alpha Derik had never been afraid of anything, but the terror in his eyes was evident when he ran to find me.
— Don't worry, Luna, when the Alpha cools down, he will immediately come to comfort you.
I was so shaken by everything that happened that I really wished my Alpha would come to comfort me. Then, I would scold him for treating me badly, we would have an adult conversation, and I would cling to his chest to ease my pain.
I just wanted to resolve everything with him, so we could be good again...
I took a shower, calmed down, lay on the bed for a bit, got up, decided to get ready and look very beautiful for when he came to apologize. Not only that, but I already had a plan in mind: it would take a while to forgive him, so he would think twice before being so rude to me, especially in front of everyone. And then, I would finally forgive him and spend the whole night cuddling with him.
I sat by the window and watched the people outside in the courtyard, busy scurrying back and forth like hardworking ants.
The sky was beautiful, clear, with few clouds, and the sun was already setting. Time passed, I started to get sleepy, and I didn't even notice when I fell asleep.
I woke up with a pain in my neck from sleeping sitting in the chair, leaning against the window. The sky was already dark, full of stars, and the faint moonlight bathed the distant forest. I looked around the room, no sign of Derik.
Hours had passed, and he hadn't come to see me....
I opened the door, several guards on duty in the corridor, some looked at me and nodded. I went back inside and closed the door behind me. I don't know what time it was, but the courtyard was empty, and silent. Only the sounds of nocturnal animals reached me: owls, crickets, frogs, some distant howls that only served to make the night even more depressing.
Derik never came home so late....
The beautiful outfit I had chosen was all wrinkled from me sleeping in it. I changed again; a simple, comfortable nightgown was enough. I went back to the window. I saw the shadow of a male approaching across the courtyard, my heart beat with joy and relief, but then it ached again. The shadow left, it wasn't Derik, just another wolf returning home late.
I drank a glass of water, and there was a knock at the door. I opened it just a crack to see who it was. One of the guards asked me if I wanted them to get me something to eat, since I hadn't gone out for dinner.
