Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Rumors of Lisa's pregnancy were already spreading in the Pack; they were confused about whether to be happy or sad as they recalled Moon Goddes' words about the adverse effects of marriage between a werewolf and an elf.
"I'm sure you'll be disappointed to hear this news, but please refrain from commenting, especially to the Alpha," said Mark.
"Do we need to celebrate?" asked one of the werewolves.
"Of course, we should welcome them back. Today, we will hunt a lot of deer, prepare all the equipment, and let's go right now!" said Mark.
The male werewolves prepared their hunting equipment while the female werewolves prepared some ingredients to cook. Lisa taught her to cook so their meals would be more varied, with raw meat. Lisa's presence here was beneficial, especially since she was a good girl.
The Pack became quiet and left a few warriors on guard; after they left, the other werewolves did their own activities until Moreno came and immediately made a scene. He did not hesitate to kill several wolves, especially women. The warriors on guard tried to fight him but were severely injured.
Lucanne, who was still at home, was getting a bad feeling. She tried to telepathize with Mark, but the beta did not respond to anything.
"Why?" asked Lisa, who was eating fruit.
"I have a bad feeling that Pack is in danger," said Lucanne.
"You can go home and see how things are over there; I'm fine here and can take care of myself," Lisa replied.
The man stood up, stroked Lisa's hair, and then asked permission to return to the Pack; he promised to return soon after. They then kissed warmly; the hot kiss made Lucanne's passion return, and Lisa could only smile slightly.
"I'll take care of you after I get home from the hospital," Lisa said.
"Thank you, dear."
Lucanne immediately ran to the Pack, using her wolf powers to get there quickly. Sure enough, the Pack was covered in blood when she got there. Mark was already there, and he looked very shocked.
"Mark, what happened?" asked Lucanne.
"Our Pack was attacked by Moreno," Mark replied.
"What? Why?"
"The reason is Luna; he wanted Luna so badly that he even took some kids hostage and took her away from here."
Trouble was brewing, including Moreno, who had raised the war flag. Lucanne gathered a few werewolves and had an impromptu meeting on the matter. Their faces were lackluster, and Lucanne could tell they were worried about the clan's fate.
"I am the Alpha, and I will take responsibility for everything. I will kill Moreno and bring his head to you," Lucanne said.
"Alpha, I think you should take Luna away from here first. She is being targeted by Moreno, and she is also pregnant. Have her stay in town with you while we care for Pack," Mark said.
"How can an Alpha leave his clan? Don't you trust me anymore, Mark?" asked Lucanne.
Mark was silent while Lucanne was still staring at him intently. She couldn't leave here and leave everything to Mark. She understood that Mark was different from usual; Mark seemed to be getting rid of Lucanne.
"I know you don't like Lisa very much, but just know that she's still the queen of this clan," Lucanne said.
"That's not it, Alpha. It's for the greater good. I'm the beta here, and I'm your confidant. Do you no longer trust me?" asked Mark.
"If you intend to get rid of me, then I will kill you," Lucanne replied.
Lucanne agreed not to take Lisa back to the Pack first; she would find a place to live in the city that was comfortable and safe for Lisa. The Pack was in turmoil, so she decided to stay here and protect her people; they decided to move to a new place that Moreno couldn't reach.
All the werewolves packed up their things. Lucanne already knew where the right place was; hopefully, her decision was correct. It wasn't long before the vampire girl returned and stalked them; Lucanne, who knew her whereabouts, immediately caught her. Indeed, the girl was Moreno's messenger to spy on her; Lucanne had been suspicious since they first met.
"Sean, take care of this vampire girl, and don't let her escape!"
"Yes, Alpha."
Once everything was ready, they walked together to leave the Pack. It was still daylight, and there was no way Moreno would attack; if he did, then Lucanne would kill him.
"Alpha, thank you for thinking about the fate of your clan," Mark said.
"You are my family, and I don't want to lose you again," Lucanne replied.
"I'm also glad you'll have a child; we'll have to create extra protection for Luna and her future baby. I'm sure all the enemies are after them," Mark said.
"What plans do you have?" asked Lucanne.
"We'll create a special force to protect Luna," replied Mark.
"Luna won't like that because it will make her uncomfortable," said Lucanne.
Mark thought for a moment and then smiled in response. "We'll hide so Lisa doesn't know we're there, at least until it's safe."
"Okay, I trust you with everything."
Lucanne looked at Mark's face, she was a bit regretful because she originally thought Mark would betray her, but it seemed not because he was still the man he knew.
"Now when are we going to have a party for Luna's pregnancy?" asked Mark.
"As soon as possible, we have to make a surprise for Luna so that she will be happy to stay with us. That girl has been having a bad time lately and I want to make her happy," Lucanne replied.
"Alpha, you seem to love your wife very much."
"Of course and now it's your turn to find a mate," Lucanne said.
"You know that I'm not good at love, just seeing you makes me happy," Mark said.
"You are indeed my best friend. I'm sorry that I doubted you," Lucanne replied.
They hugged tightly, while Mark smiled a small smile with an unpredictable look.
