Chapter 47 You're hurting me
I rushed out immediately when the alpha asked me to go back to my chambers. Again, the dinner night turned out as I had expected. I knew my instinct wasn't deceiving me when it told me things would definitely go wrong. I knew the fault didn't come from the alpha or my mom, but the fact that the old guy wouldn't let me be felt so suspicious. And I knew for a fact he wouldn't let me be until he found out what he was actually looking for.
Now I was convinced he had been suspecting the prince and me. The other day at the library, he didn't hear or see a thing, but I knew for a fact he would be suspicious. No wonder he kept following me around.
If the alpha hadn't shown up in time, I guess he would have gotten something out of me; he just wasn't ready to let it slide.
On my way, I ran into the prince.
At first, I didn't want to say a word to him; I just acted like I didn't see him and tried opening my door, but then he held my hands, and the next thing I knew, he pinned me to the wall.
My heart raced as I wondered what he was up to.
"What do you want...?" I asked, my voice panicking.
"Don't even try to play dumb, Lyra; it only makes you look stupid. You know what you did, and trust me, you're going to pay dearly for it!" Wait, is that supposed to be a threat or something?
I thought the alpha had already warned him to stay away from me, so what happened?
"Are you threatening me?" I asked, looking straight into his eyes. Gone are the days when I would look away when he stared at me.
"Yes, and you should know I don't make empty threats!" he blurted, tightening his grip on my fist.
"Let me be. You clearly told me I should stay off your part, and I've been doing so. Why can't you just let me be?" I questioned, struggling to break free, but his grip was tight.
"Oh, stop it, Lyra! You know what you are doing. You're intentionally doing it, yet you act like you aren't aware. Tell me, don't you get tired of playing the victim?" How the hell was I playing the victim?
"The victim, you say? You should have said that to your lover, not me! If there's actually someone who plays better than I do, it has to be Seraphina. I mean, no one does it better than her, and you know it!" I blurted, pushing him away.
He groaned in pain, but I couldn't care less; he should have known I was also in pain from his grip.
"Is that why you are doing it? Is that why you're following Elias around just to get back at me?" I should have known that was where he was headed.
"Follow him around, you say? Of course. If you already know it, then why do you have to ask? You don't want me, yet you also don't want me to go for someone else? I wouldn’t want to believe you are that selfish!" I was supposed to be scared of him, but today, I found myself feeling not even an atom of fear.
"So you prefer him to me? You're intentionally following him around to make me feel bad, huh?" He grabbed my hands forcefully for the second time.
"I respect the fact that you are the prince, but I also won't tolerate you trying to invade my space. You clearly told me you don't want me, so why can't you just let me be? Oh, you thought every other person would turn me down the way you did? You said I shouldn't take it to heart; you called me a mistake... you clearly warned me not to tell anyone about it, and trust me when I say, I no longer give a f about you. You can just go ahead and be with Seraphina while I’m with Elias! It's simple," I chipped.
"You are the one that's being selfish, Lyra. You clearly know how the mate bond works, but still, you chose to follow him around. Don't you know you're hurting me by doing so?" He asked, pinning me to the wall once again.
"And you think you are being kind to me by sleeping with Seraphina? You started it all! You kiss her, hug her, and even take her side each time she does something bad to me, and you think you are not hurting me?" I asked, trying really hard not to break down.
"We are different! Why can't you just get that into your head? I'm royalty, and you are not... stop trying to fit in where you don't belong!" He fired back, pushing me to the floor so hard that I could no longer feel my legs.
