Chapter 35 Bring her to the court

Chapter 35 Bring her to the court
I turned with the rest to see Elias standing at the entrance of the hall.

"What? Why are you here, and how dare you challenge the alpha?" one of the elders said.

"I'm not here to challenge the alpha. I'm here to defend her since everyone chose not to believe any of her claims." Wait.. is he here to save me? Does that mean he has proof to get me out of the alpha's and even Prince Kael's grip?

"Elias, why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be on the trip you told me about?" Kael asked him. Yeah, he really wants Elias to leave so they can finish me off.

"I changed my mind, Prince Kael. She's more important than whatever trip I would have made," Elias said, emphasizing the importance.

I could see Kael clenching his fist; he just didn't expect anyone to stand up for me.

"I'm sorry I had to show up like this, but I have to. If the alpha wants to punish me, I'll gladly accept it, but I’ll make sure justice is served," he went on to say.

Seeing that he wasn't ready to back down, the alpha gestured for him to come closer so he could hear what he had to say.

"So you're here today to tell me that she's innocent?" the alpha asked him.

"Yes, my Lord. She's innocent of all the accusations leveled against her," he replied. I just knelt there with my eyes fixed on him.

I wish the moon goddess had made him my mate. It's not too late to set things right, right? I told myself, but I got a deadly look from Master Kael. Don't tell me he found his way into my head again...

‘Motherfucker!’ I cursed, and that made him spring to his feet.

They all turned their attention to him. "Are you okay, Kael? What happened?" the alpha asked. He glared at me for a while, then took his seat. He’d definitely want to punish me for making him look stupid; that I know for sure.

"How did you know she's innocent? Do you have proof to back up your claims? I hope you know that if it turns out that she's guilty, you'd be punished as well for standing up for her," the alpha asked, and he nodded without hesitating.

"Yes, my Lord... I'm willing to take any punishment." He's so confident. Seeing him this way, I was fully convinced he'd get me out of here alive and untouched.

"Tell me, what proof do you have?" Elias smiled immediately after the alpha asked that question.

"The person that placed those clothes and jewelry in the box was Seraphina. She placed them there herself. I don't know what Lyra said that would make her frame her, but it's really unfair for her to do such a thing to the poor girl." Kael sprang up immediately, his eyes boiling with anger. He'd do anything to protect her, while I, his mate, should be left to die like a thief. It's okay; it's all my fault for always being unfortunate with people, for always believing people will change their minds about me if I try my best to please them. I was wrong all along. After struggling to get Seraphina back, this is how she chooses to pay me? It's fine. I mean, I was the one who thought she'd stop being cruel towards me if I did that. If I had left her there to die, nothing would have happened, but I chose to bring her back, ignoring all the pain she's caused me.

"How dare you accuse Seraphina? Why would she put her own clothes there and accuse Lyra of doing such? You're going too far, Elias," Kael yelled.

"Why are you so sure that Seraphina is innocent? Why would Lyra steal her clothes and jewelry? Where would she wear them to? Because she hasn't left this castle for as long as I can remember, so tell me, did she just take them to decorate her box?" Elias asked Kael, who only stared blankly at him. He knew so well that I've never left the castle, so where the hell am I supposed to take what I stole?

"I think you're making a point, but there's no way Seraphina was going to accuse her unjustly, right?" The alpha was beginning to find sense in what he was saying.

"The fact that you all trust Seraphina so much that you believe she can do no wrong is annoying. She's human too; she can get angry or even jealous and do these things. I believe Prince Kael knows everything that's going on; he just won't admit or do the right thing," Elias said. He’s risking so much for my sake—he even dragged Lord Kael into it. I pray this ends well for us both.

"You! How dare you!" Kael half-yelled, pointing at Elias.

"Go on, Elias. I know you hold no grudge against Seraphina, so you have no reason to lie about her," the alpha further gestured to him.

"I was supposed to leave this morning, but the rope used on my horse wasn't fit for the long trip, so I had to make a quick trip to the guard post. When I was up there, I saw Princess Seraphina holding a heap of her clothes and jewelry, taking them straight to Lyra's room. The maids all saw her, but none of them is willing to say the truth because they are jealous you once invited her to your table. Seraphina got hit by the box while trying to sneak them in quickly; it left a mark on her hands. You can call her to confirm if you doubt me, my Lord." Elias bowed.

"You're going too far, Elias. Why would you say such things about Seraphina? You even want them to bring her here! She's not coming here, and that's final!" Lord Kael yelled.

"Shut the fuck up, Kael. I'm the alpha, and I get to make the rules..." He paused, then turned to one of the guards. "Bring Seraphina before the court!" Elias smiled.
