Chapter 180

Chapter 180
Ceasars pov-

Veyra's cult surges, claws glinting in the moonlight, their numbers, overwhelming. I signal the warriors my blade slashing a cultists flank, blood spraying, while Freya doves for Sara, her claws freeing the pup. Her loyalty a spark I cling to despite my doubts.

Bella stands tall, her armor gleaming, her crimson cape billowing, her pureblood blood the bait in this desperate trade, but her pregnancy—six months along, the twins’ heartbeats a faint pulse—makes my heart race. Kar howls within, a feral need to protect her and our unborn pups driving me, my blade gripped so tightly my knuckles ache.

Freya’s scouting report, delivered hours ago, confirmed Veyra’s numbers—dozens, heavily armed, Lycan-fast—but her hesitation during the raid, her flickering eyes when Veyra appeared, fuels my doubt, a shadow cast by her suspicious exit with Finn’s letter. I want to trust her, need her knowledge of Blood Valley’s terrain, but Bella’s scars—Freya’s doing—make every move she makes suspect. Amber crouches nearby, her dagger drawn, her eyes locked on Finn, her mate, her hope a fragile thread that mirrors my vow to Bella. I silently swear to get Finn back for her, to spare her the pain of loss, my loyalty to the pack a fire in my chest. Warriors hide in the trees, their breaths silent, blades sheathed to avoid detection, but Veyra’s smirk, sharp as a blade, tells me she’s planned for us.

The trade begins, Veyra stepping forward, her pale face stark under her hood, her bone-braided hair clinking, her eyes, sharp as amber shards piercing through the moonlight with malice. “The Luna’s blood for the man and the pup,” she hisses, her voice a venomous promise, her claws gesturing to Finn, then to the shadows where Sara must be held. Bella steps forward, her armor clinking, her claws extended, Kaya’s growl rumbling through her, but I feel her fear through our bond, her resolve tempered by the twins’ safety. I signal the warriors to hold, my eyes scanning the cultists, their numbers swelling, claws gleaming, and I realize we’re outnumbered, the trap we set now a cage closing around us.

Veyra’s cultists move, a coordinated surge, and I shout the signal, warriors bursting from the trees, blades flashing, growls echoing through the night. Chaos erupts, steel clashing with claw, blood spraying as warriors meet cultists in a frenzy of violence. Bella directs the warriors, her voice sharp, Kaya's pureblood fire guiding her as she slashes a cultists hands with her claws, her stance protective, shielding her tummy from direct blows. I slash beside her, my blade sinking into a cultist’s chest, his snarl cut short, but more swarm, their speed unnatural, their eyes glowing like Veyra’s. Kar roars, my senses sharpened, every strike a vow to protect my mate, my pack.

Freya dives into the fray, her claws ripping through a cultist, blood arcing, and I catch her saving Sara, yanking the pup from a cultist’s grip, her small form trembling but alive. Sara clings to Freya, who passes her to a warrior sprinting for safety, and I see Freya’s loyalty, a flicker of redemption that battles my doubt. But Veyra moves, swift and deadly, grabbing Finn, her knife flashing to his throat, a thin line of blood welling. Amber screams, a raw, desperate sound, lunging forward, her dagger raised, but a cultist intercepts, knocking her back. Bella hesitates, her claws faltering, her eyes locked on Finn, her pureblood blood the key to Veyra’s ritual, a prize she won’t surrender.

I charge, my blade aimed at Veyra, my roar shaking the air, but she’s fast, slipping aside with Lycan grace, her laugh a chilling taunt. “Your Luna’s blood is mine,” she sneers, her eyes fixing on Bella, who fights off two cultists, her movements fierce but strained. I tackle Veyra, my blade grazing her arm, blood seeping, but she twists free, her claws raking my shoulder, pain flaring. Finn struggles, his bound hands useless, his eyes meeting Amber’s, a silent plea, but Veyra’s grip tightens, her knife steady. The warriors push back, cultists falling, but their numbers overwhelm, their traps—nets, spikes from the raid—replaced by sheer force, a tide we can’t stem.

Bella spins, her claws slashing, but a cultist’s claw rakes her shoulder, blood seeping, her arms faltering as she grips her claws, pain slowing her strikes. My heart lurches, Kar howling, and I dive to her side, my blade cleaving the cultist’s neck, his body crumpling. She staggers, her hand pressing the wound, her face pale but fierce, Kaya’s fire burning in her eyes. Amber fights to Finn, her dagger flashing, but Veyra retreats, dragging Finn into the trees, her cultists covering her escape, their claws a barrier we can’t breach. Freya joins us, her claws bloodied, Sara safe but Finn gone again, Veyra’s laugh echoing, a promise of worse to come.

The clearing quiets, wounded warriors groaning, cultists’ bodies littering the earth, their blood soaking the soil. Sara’s safe, clutched by a warrior sprinting to the manor, but Finn’s loss is a fresh wound, Amber’s choked sob a sound that cuts me. Bella leans against me, her arm bleeding, her breath ragged, the twins’ heartbeats a faint pulse I cling to. I rip my sleeve, binding her wound, my hands trembling, her blood on my fingers a chilling reminder of Veyra’s goal. The ritual, Freya’s warning—Bella’s pureblood blood to fuel Brianna’s legacy—looms, and I realize the cultist’s blade, now lost in the chaos, carries her blood, a prize Veyra’s cult can use.

Her eyes meet mine, pain and fire warring, and I cup her face, my thumb brushing her cheek, streaked with dirt and blood. “You’re still here,” I murmur, my voice hoarse, Kar howling for her safety. “Stay with me, Bella.” She grips my wrist, her touch grounding, and leans into me, her breath warm against my neck. “For you, for them,” she whispers, her hand on her belly, the twins’ heartbeats steadying. I kiss her, brief but fierce, her lips soft despite the battle’s grit, a spark that drowns the chaos. “We end this together,” I say, and she nods, her claws tightening, our bond a shield.

My heart stops; the cult’s ritual needs her blood, and they’ve got it now.
