CHAPTER 26
Alexie didn't want to listen to the warnings that he heard Mason say, but he didn't care. He knows that they were in a war, but just because they applied to them doesn't mean that they would mean much to him. He would have to be left alone to lead his own life the way that he wanted to. That was the thing that they didn't seem to understand. The fact that he was his own person and knew it meant that he would be allowed to come to his own decisions on time.
He didn't want to worry about that girl to be hesitant, and it didn't matter how many times they would have tried to coerce or confine him, that statement wouldn't change for him. She wasn't the one that he wanted, and that was simply the fact. They wouldn't change his mind if that were the case.
He made his way towards the meeting room.
As he felt no form of fear or hesitation. He knew that he was the one who was right in that sense, and so it wouldn't mean anything to him if they were to change that fact. He held a large amount of confidence in the fact that he knew well what he was doing.
He opened the door as he peeked inside, and he found the generals sitting around the table already waiting for him. He let out a sigh from his lips before he made his way over to his seat and sat down. He could hear them mutter lowly amongst themselves, and the moment that he took his seat, he watched as the murmurs stopped.
He turned towards them with a raised eyebrow, as he couldn't help but wonder what was going on. "Anyone care to Tell me why we are here? And more specifically, why I am here." He asked them with a raised eyebrow. He watched as they gulped, taking a deep breath before they began to fidget in their spots. He didn't understand why they were so nervous or what it was that they were so nervous about.
Well, we have to talk about the Luna trials. I know that we were the ones who pushed you towards having them held, but we are sorry. We have changed our minds. We don't think that it is a good idea anymore." He heard one of his men say. He looked towards them with a raised eyebrow, and he felt something in his jaw tick. He tried to calm himself down as he thought over the possible reason.
"And why is that? Wasn't it your idea for the trials to be held? You are the ones who insisted that I have a mate, and I am simply listening to you, or are you trying to tell me that you were wrong and that I shouldn't have listened to you at all". He said to them in a deathly tone.
He watched as they gulped before they shook their heads at him. No, I assure you that is not what I meant. But still, I am sorry, and I do apologize for forcing you there. We only wanted you to select a girl, but now this deal is going to get all the wrong attention, and it is going to cause more danger for us. That is what I fear. I consider that you think this over before we proceed". He said to him in a pleading tone.
He let out a sigh in response as he lowered his head. He chuckled lightly as he shook his head at him in response. "You know, I don't know what it is with you." You can never be sure of what you want. And now here you are saying something that is entirely different. I will hold the trials as I see fit, and if there happen to be witnesses amongst the people, I will be able to pick them out like weeds. I will not allow my kingdom to be pestered by such vermin." He said to them firmly. He watched as the room was followed by a long echo and a deafening silence that spoke volumes.
"Well Alpha. You are going to get people killed. How about we take a minute and stop all of this for once. Think about what you are doing before going through with it," Mason said to him, and he wasn't listening. He didn't know what they wanted from him, but as always, it appeared as though whatever he did simply wasn't good enough. He was tired of the whole grasping at straws thing, and he would do his thing his own way. He didn't care how things would end, but from now on, this was how they would be.
"If you have a problem with The way that I handle things, that is on you. But you can't keep judging my methods. Anyone who ends up dead will not be in my hands but because of their own carelessness." He sppat. "And what about your real mate". He heard a voice call out. He felt his body freeze as he watched her face flash before his eyes. He couldn't, as he turned towards them with a raised eyebrow and tried to ignore the thought of seeing her again.
"What about her?" He asked. "What do you plan to do when you see her? How will you react?
That. So are you going to risk the most sacred bond between a man and woman, and the moon goddess isn't one that matters to you?" He heard one of the men calling from behind him. He gulped as he let out a sigh from his lips before he shook his head. He wasn't going to go down that road. Not now, not ever.
He let out a sigh from his lips. "When I find that girl, whoever she is, I will not hesitate to reject her. This isn't what I signed up for, and I will sure be damned if I am to allow her to take control of my life as well as my affairs. That is not how life works." He said to them.
But he was wrong. Oh, so desperately wrong.
