Chapter 75

Chapter 75
Jack’s POV
Upon Scarlet’s request, I told the guard to let the immigration officer in and then went to the hall to have a word with him.

“Mr. Snipes, where is the young lady as we speak?” I asked.
“She’s at the detention centre but don’t worry, she’s under good care. We just want to do a thorough investigation about her whereabouts before we let her in.”

I nodded, I secretly wished she hadn’t returned, especially at this moment. She was being accused of murder and I couldn’t do much to protect her.

“Did she tell you how she was able to leave Silvermoon in the first place?” I queried him.
“She says she was shot while hunting, when she woke up again she was tied up on a cargo ship. She even showed me her arrow wounds.”

The mention of the cargo ship reminds me of something one of the guards told me. He said Scarlett and Becky had gone to the cargo train station, when I later confronted Scarlett about it she said Becky had a package to deliver.

Becky? What did Becky do? This whole thing was beginning to get messy. If I try to think about it vividly it sounds like Scarlett and Becky tried to get rid of Marie and it backfired and Marie retaliated by taking Becky out.

But it still doesn’t make sense, if Marie is at a detention centre, how did she come here to kill Becky?

“Can you keep her there till morning? Tonight is just not a good idea.” I replied.
“I understand.” He said, I excused him and left for the control room. They bowed slightly and welcomed me to the control room,

“Alpha. You should see this,” one of the security personnel said. He showed me footage of Becky heading to Marie’s room. She went inside the room and shut the door behind her. Seconds later, the door opened slightly, then there was a glimpse of fire, and the door shut again.

“Can you rewind the video?” I requested.

They did and I watched the flame again and the door banging shut. That must have been when the murder happened. I remember perceiving the scent of fire and blood in the room but again Marie is at the detention centre she couldn’t have come here to kill her unless she was working with someone; a dragon!

The fire and the presence I felt in the room… everything led to the fact that Scarlett wasn’t hallucinating after all. Marie was no ordinary person, but she couldn’t have killed Becky. There's someone else here with us doing all the dirty work.

I dashed out of the control room and my next destination was the cold room. I followed the pathologist and mortician to where Becky had been laid, she had two large wounds, one in her neck and one in her chest. The shape of her scars looked like very large arrows had been shot at her, that’s how best I can describe it, she didn’t look burned at all.

“What did the detective say about her wounds? Have they said anything?” I asked.
He shook his head and handed me a card, “She was hiding this in her bra.”

I looked critically at the blood-smudged card, the arrow or whatever she had been attacked with seemed to have damaged part of the card. I couldn’t see the picture clearly.

But I could see the name, it had Dawn Winters, written on it, the year of birth was in the 80s whoever owned the card must be in their late 30s. It had the Southern Dragon Kingdom also imprinted on it.

Who was Dawn Winters? The more I discovered the more I realized that Scarlett wasn’t lying after all everything she said wasn’t based on hallucinations she knew what she was saying.

I went back to my room to do my search on my PC. By the time I was done reading all there was to read I found myself collapsed behind my computer, fast asleep. What woke me up was Scarlett at my door calling out my name.

I got up and rushed to the door, when I opened the door she stormed in screaming,

“Where is she?” Her eyes were swollen and bloodshot. It was obvious that she hadn’t slept a wink and had mourned the whole night.
She scampered around the room searching the corners of my room. I sighed, it was painful watching her lose her mind like this.

“She’s not her, she’s still at the detention centre,” I replied.
“Why is she still there? Didn’t I tell you to bring her back? Why didn’t you listen?”

“She’s on her way, she should be here in no time.” I tried to assure her.
“Jack we have to hang her, she’s a menace. You can’t let her get away with this.” She pleaded with me.

I nodded, “If I find her guilty she will go on the rope.”

“Believe me she’s guilty, she’s from the Southern…”
“Dragon Kingdom, I know. I found this card in Becky’s clothes," I picked up the card and handed it to her.

“I doubt the card belongs to Marie anyway, it says Dawn Winters and she’s in her 30s that’s not Marie’s name and she’s just an 18 year old like all of us,” I replied.

She stared at the card as if I had handed her a weapon, she scrutinized for a while, and said,
“Marie is not innocent! With this card, we know who sent her here.”

I nodded and agreed with her, no matter what Marie’s excuse may be, she was a suspect.

“I’m having her transported here and when she comes we will have her trial up here at the pack house, all the judges and security will be made available and if she’s guilty you can do as you please with her.

She seemed a bit calm after that.
