Chapter 68

Chapter 68
Marie’s POV

After sailing for a day and a half, I was taken to a hospital near the harbor and the doctors admitted me again. The more I delayed the more angry I got. These people held me hostage but I was in a hurry that wound wasn’t going to kill me but they were acting like I was going to die tomorrow.

As I lay on the hospital bed that night. I thought about Bliss, he was the only one who would be able to break in and save me. I needed to direct him to this place, if he’s alive he will find me. There’s a traditional way of summoning a hybrid bird. I just need some fabric and a stick. Then I would raise a flag and place it on top of a high-rise building, the next thing I would do is light the flag with my fire breath. As it burns on the building, it would attract all the hybrid birds from the dragon kingdom. They can detect that fire from afar and they can also tell their master’s fire when they see it or feel it.

If Bliss is alive, he’s likely looking for me. The only thing I need to do is light that fire without any interruptions. The problem is, who is going to let you do that on top of their building? Well, getting out of here was more important, I had to figure that out first.

When the nurse came to check on me, I struck up a conversation with him.

“So you guys have skyscrapers with a pool at the top?” I asked and he laughed and nodded,
“This city is full of skyscrapers.” He replied, “Are you planning on hosting a party?”

“It’s a nice city, maybe I could have a mini vacation when this ordeal is over,” I replied. “Any recommendations?”

He nodded and listed a few for me. After that I waited patiently till it was late in the night, then I got out of my ward, I went into the changing room and stole a woman’s clothes. It was a knee-length skirt and a crop shirt then I bolted out of the hospital.

I had some money on my card but I wonder if banks from Red Rock operated here too. Fortunately, after running around for a while, I found a bank from Red Rock and I happened to have a card. I withdrew money from the ATM and then got a ride to one of the locations the nurse had told me about.

“Hi, I want to book a rooftop pool for the whole night, is that possible?”

The receptionist scrunched up her face before telling me that they were fully booked,
“I would have given you a fat tip but it’s fine.”

She softened up, and said, “If you can wait until after 11:30 then I can get the place for you.”

I flashed her a smile, I guess money solves a lot of problems. I paid and booked the reservation and hung around in the lobby waiting for my turn. As soon as the clock chimed 11:30, a hotel staff member walked up to me and led me to my reservation.

I breathed a sigh of relief and waited till I was alone on the rooftop, then I pulled out my hospital uniform from the bag I stole at the hospital. I looked around for a pole or a stick or something similar. I couldn’t seem to find any. I sighed and made my way to the exit. As I got closer, I saw an axe hiding in the corridor right outside the rooftop, it was right beside the fire extinguisher hanging in the corner. I scanned around for the CCTV and avoided them. I crept to the corner of the corridor, grabbed the axe, and crept back to the poolside. I wrapped the hospital clothes around the tail of the axe and lit it up with my fire breath.

When it lit up like an ancient torch, I made sure I avoided the cameras while climbing to the ceiling of skyscrapers. I placed the axe torch on the ceiling and sat beside it as it burned, I was silently hoping that Bliss would show up at that instant but he didn't. My torch burned down and there was still no sign of Bliss.

I booked a room for the night and slept at the hotel. The following night, I booked the rooftop again. This time I lit a floating lantern and released it into the sky.
“Bliss, please find it,” I prayed.

The lantern floated away but there was no sign of Bliss, I decided that if he didn’t return on the third day, I would start my journey back to Silvermoon on my own.

The third night, I paid for the rooftop and floated my lantern. I made sure the flame was a bit higher this time. Maybe Bliss didn’t smell my flame breath the last time. After hours of waiting it was another fruitless night but I didn’t go to bed. I stayed on the rooftop enjoying the night’s breeze.

When I heard the screams of a hawk, I looked up and thought it might be Bliss so I screamed back in a way he would understand. After a few minutes, he started circling down and settled on the glass baluster that surrounded the pool.

“Princess Dawn!”
“Bliss!” He looked so bruised all over, I started to cry. “What happened to you? We have to treat your wounds as soon as possible.”

I carried it into my arms and rushed off the rooftop with him.
