Chapter 49
Chapter 49
Dwight’s POV
“Mommy! Why did you pee on my bed?” Darren threw a tantrum at his mom just as I was passing by his room. Selene was teaching him how to draw—something the two of them always did together whenever I was busy with Pack affairs or when Selene didn’t have Luna duties.
“Mom!” I still heard his laughter as he teased his mother. My son—what a big brother he already is! He’s so possessive of his sibling that he doesn’t even want to lose sight of his mother. Wherever Selene goes, he follows her like a bodyguard. And honestly, that makes me proud.
He does everything to protect his mom and sibling. “But Mommy, my bed—she peed on it!” Darren whined again, and if I were inside, I’d probably see him pouting at his mother right now.
“No, Darren… it’s not pee… it’s… it’s… my water bag just broke,” Selene replied, making my eyes widen. It’s too early for her to give birth.
Normally, a she-wolf gives birth to her pups after four months, but Selene is one month early. I can only hope this is because she’s an Aeon, and not because something’s wrong. Damn! Damn! My wife is about to give birth—what am I doing standing here?
I rushed into Darren’s room and saw Selene sitting on the bed, holding her stomach. Her face showed the pain she was in.
“Dwight, I’m going into labor,” she said, sweat dripping down her beautiful face. She groaned as Darren just watched us.
I moved closer and rubbed her stomach to ease the pain. “Relax, baby. Inhale, exhale, inhale, ex—ahhh!” My attempt to calm her was cut off when she squeezed my shoulder so tightly I thought my bones would break.
“What relax are you talking about?! Why don’t you just take me to the Pack Doctor so I can deliver this baby already!” she snapped at me, still gripping my shoulder. She’s right—the Pack Doctor! I need to take her there!
It still hadn’t sunk in that my wife was about to give birth. “Darren, go to your Uncle CC. Tell everyone—the Pack Doctor, too! Your Luna is in labor! Our pup is coming!” I used my Alpha tone to command him.
Darren jumped at my shout, startled. But when he heard me say their future Alpha was on his way, everyone cheered. I was 100% sure it would be a boy. But I didn’t have time to celebrate because Selene’s grip on me was only getting tighter.
I don’t even know if I used my voice or mind-link, but out of panic, I lifted Selene bridal-style and hurried to the Pack Hospital. The only thing on my mind was that my wife was in pain, and our pup was coming.
I yelled at those who got in my way. Some even whimpered as I shouted at them—I didn’t care. I had no time to apologize.
“You could’ve just asked them to move! Why did you have to yell at them too?!” Selene snapped again, but I ignored her. My priority was their safety.
As soon as the hospital came into sight, I sprinted inside.
“Where’s the Pack Doctor?!” I roared at everyone. My shout made the patients pale, but a nurse quickly approached me.
“Alpha, this way. Everything’s ready in the Delivery Room,” she said, pointing me to where the Pack’s she-wolves gave birth.
I pushed the door open with one hand while still carrying Selene in the other. I gently laid her on the bed. Her forehead creased, her beautiful face covered in sweat—you could clearly see her pain.
The doctor entered, and I cursed when I realized it wasn’t Lea. “Where’s Lea?!” I shouted at him.
The doctor trembled as he answered. “She’s on vacation, Alpha. She asked your permission before, don’t you remember?”
Right—Lea had asked to travel to look for her late mate.
“Dwight! This isn’t the time to be dramatic! Ahhh! My stomach hurts!” Selene yelled at me.
The doctor approached her and examined her, then looked at me. “Alpha, the pup is coming. I need your permission.”
Selene glared at me, so I sighed and nodded.
The doctor covered Selene’s lower half with sheets, then moved to the end of the bed. My wolf growled—only I was allowed to see her like that. I grabbed the doctor by the neck instantly.
“No one else is allowed to see her!” My wolf was too possessive—he couldn’t stand anyone touching or seeing our mate.
“You idiot, Dwight! How will he deliver our baby if he can’t look or touch?! Do you want our pup to fall out?! Ahhh! Hurry up—the baby is coming!” Selene snapped at me again.
She clutched the bed with both hands. I let go of the doctor and let him do his job.
“Inhale, exhale, Luna… push… push, Luna,” the doctor instructed her.
I offered my hand, and Selene squeezed it tightly as she pushed.
“Damn you, Dwight! You did this to me! If you ever get me pregnant again, I’ll rip off your balls and feed them to your wolf!” she cried out, panting in pain.
“Ewww… I will not eat that,” my wolf growled in my head.
I laughed at his response. Both Selene and the doctor gave me weird looks, and Selene smacked me on the head.
“How dare you laugh while I’m giving birth!” she scolded. I immediately stopped laughing and got serious.
A moment later, the doctor shouted, “Finally! The future Alpha is out!” He cut the umbilical cord, and wow—he was holding my son.
A nurse entered and took the baby to clean him. The doctor was about to leave when Selene stopped him.
“Where do you think you’re going, Doc? Have you lost your mind? Don’t you know there’s another one coming?!” she shouted, clutching her stomach.
“There’s another one! Push, Luna! One more, Luna!” the doctor urged.
Selene did as instructed, and moments later, I heard another cry—a softer, more delicate cry.
The doctor cut the cord again. “Indeed, it’s a future Luna!”
Another nurse entered carrying our cleaned baby boy and handed him to me, guiding me on how to hold him. Then she took our daughter to clean her as well.
The doctor congratulated us and left, giving our family some private time. I traced my son’s tiny nose with my finger.
“Let me see our son, baby,” Selene whispered, exhausted but glowing.
She sat up despite her fatigue. I turned our son toward her, and she smiled with pure joy. I felt the same.
She looked at me. “What will we name him?” I asked.
She smiled and answered, “Deagan Black Night Craw. And for our princess—Vanity Sloan Night Craw.”
