Chapter 70 - The Alpha’s Goddess
~CALLIE'S P.O.V~
After dinner was finished, I assisted in cleaning up, at least until Jade popped up.
"Hey! Ready for our girls' night of not working?"
I laughed at her way of trying to detour the work we definitely will be doing.
"You mean our fun night of crafting and drinking?" I asked while still laughing.
"Yeah totally. Mostly the drinking, though."
"Let me just finish up with this last dish and I will be ready. Where are the others?"
"Meeting us at the elevator."
"Well, let me hurry up so we don't keep them waiting."
I quickly finished my last dish before bidding the chefs goodnight. Once Jade and I make it to the elevator, I see the girls waiting patiently. Skila has a few bottles of my favorite wine in her hand, Stella Rosé. Ah, she knows me so well!
"Hey, girls! Are y'all ready for a night of crafting?" I asked as we approached.
"Crafting? Jade said we were drinking." One of the girls piped up. Of course, she did.
"I may have forgotten to mention the fact that Callie wants us to work too," Jade said with a giggle in her voice.
"Well, I was wondering if you would all like to assist with the invites, I am making for the big meeting but drinking too, of course?"
"AHH, I LOVE CRAFTING!" Anne, Jade's friend from the royal palace said. Her voice was almost a scream, that's how excited she was. I wished I could remember all the things she does. When I got my memory back, I couldn't recall every memory that others had shared with me. I was young when I was removed from my family, so my memories aren't the best.
"I was hoping that we could figure out a good layout, what words to use, and the design the invite should hold. So, opinions and help would be greatly appreciated." I said to the group.
"That sounds fine to me, at least it’s fun work and not like work-work," Alana said as Skila hit the elevator button.
Of the group of five, only three of us have a keycard to get to the upper levels. Jade was given one because, well, she is Jade. But not only that, but also because she is family, and our families were allowed keycards too. Skila is Laken's mate, so she is the Female Beta of our pack. Therefore, she also has a key card. Anne was only a visitor. She is the Royal Palace's witch. Then there was Alana, who is now a member of my pack. Well, not a werewolf member, but she will be treated as such. She and her family have chosen to remain living amongst us. After all, they have done for us, I was happy to offer them a home within our pack.
The elevator dings as the doors open, we all step inside as Jade pushes the button to take us to the Alpha floor. The elevator dings and uses the automated voice asking for identification to grant access. Jade then uses her card to allow us to move upward when the elevator asks for identification. The light turns from red to green as her card grants access to the upper levels.
I wanted to hang out in the living room where we could all relax and enjoy our time while we made the invites. If we did them in my office, then we would all be cramped and annoyed. At least in the living room, there will be plenty of space, and we can also put on some music in the background and just enjoy each other's company while we get the invites all created.
The elevator door opens up, revealing the hallway that leads to the main entrance to the apartment, which is the living room. Entering the hallway, a rack was hung for our coats. While a shoe rack was below it for our shoes. Next to the coat rack a key holder was hung. There was a slot for each of us to put our keys in so we could place them on it for easier access. It also helps with locating them, since the men cannot keep up with their items to save their lives. It was hoped that this way, if we hung our keys when we got home, then we would always know where they were each day. Makes it easier to leave when you're in a rush as well.
As I walked into the house, I put my keys on the rack and we all headed to the living room. I haven't had much time to decorate, so my walls were bare. Guess that is my next goal: unpack and decorate. As we entered the living room, Skila went to the kitchen to grab some glasses to pour some wine into them. Luckily, I also have some wine here, so we will all at least get a few glasses each.
"Anyone against alcohol speaks now or forever hold your peace," Skila said as she started to pour the wine into the first glass.
When nobody said anything, she went on to the next glass. I decided to go ahead and pull out the extra bottles since one wine bottle only makes around four glasses.
Once everyone had a glass in their hand, I went to the office to retrieve my laptop. All of the potential designs were in there, so it would be needed. I grabbed the USP that connects the laptop to the TV and went back into the living room. The girls were already chatting and drinking when I got back. I connected the laptop to the TV and opened a few tabs. I opened YouTube so we could put on some music while we went through all the designs. Once I had everything going, I sat on the ground and put my wine glass to my lips. The smell engulfing my senses makes my mouth water. I took a sip of my wine while the girls still chatted with each other. I walked over and sat near them to get in on their juicy gossip.
"So, I heard that Jake hasn't found a mate yet," Jade says, looking over at Alana.
"Don't look at me!" Alana just about screamed.
"Come on, I see the way you two flirt!" Jade goes on, making me smile.
"Jake is a wolf, I am not. It wouldn't work."
"That's so not true." I decided to say, entering the conversation. "Leo is not a wolf and yet we work perfectly."
"Okay, but you're different, you're the freaking Goddess." Alana tried arguing.
"I disagree. I am no different from anyone else. I may be the Goddess, but everyone deserves happiness. It doesn't matter what species you want to have that happiness with, as long as you're happy."
"But what if things happen and I fall for him, and his mate comes along?" Alana asked.
"That's a valid reason to be scared," Skila said this time.
"Exactly." Alana retorts.
"But what if he doesn't find his mate? Then you choose to avoid happiness just because of a "what if." Anne then said.
"That's what I am saying! Just go for it, and if he does end up finding his true mate, then you know that you gave it your all and you at least experienced the feeling of happiness." Jade then said.
"Okay, you're the one to talk, you fangirl over Prince Daxton, yet you do not make a move either!" Anne then said.
"She has a point," I said with a laugh.
"We aren't talking about me here," Jade said, trying to defend herself.
"We are now," Alana replied, trying to keep the conversation off of her.
"It’s complicated. I want to make a move, but he pushes me away at every given opportunity. We aren't in the same boat, he tries everything to avoid me, not seek me out like Jake does with Alana." Sorrow was laced in Jade's voice with her revolution.
"What about Blaine!? He is totally cute!" Alana then said, trying to sway the conversation. Anne's face turned red on the spot.
"Oh my gosh! Anne has a thing for Blaine!" I said, pointing out her major blush.
"I do not, is he cute? Yes. Is he sweet? Absolutely. But is he emotionally available? Not even close. He has so much trauma that he doesn't even understand the basic concept of flirting, let alone allowing someone close enough to try and help." Anne then said, making my heart clench in my chest.
All of those poor people have undergone so much trauma from Jakus and I know only time can heal those feelings, but something within me begs for me to help them. I know that I cannot erase that trauma, nor can I take the pain away, but I wished there was something I could do to help them. Blaine has such a kind soul, but he will forever be broken, and that goes for so many of them. We haven't found Blaine's family yet. I know he is of Alpha blood, and his memories aren't from very long ago, but it was as if his pack disappeared the moment he did. I haven't had a lot of time to research this matter with us renovating, then moving, but I am hoping with all of the species coming, that there is an Alpha amongst them that may know something regarding this matter. There have to be answers out there. An entire pack doesn't just disappear.
"Someone is in Laland," Jade said, taking me out of my thoughts.
"Yeah sorry, I was just thinking about Blaine's pack and family," I admitted.
"Yeah, the little bit that I did get out of him, didn't make any sense," Anne stated.
"He talked about them?" I asked curiously.
"Not exactly. He said something about magic and the underground. But none of it made any sense to me." Anne answered, making all of our faces look the same, confused.
"Well, let's not go into detective mode, we still have stuff to do," Jade said, looking at me. She knows me, she knows where my thoughts would go if we allowed them to.
"Speaking of which, let's see what ideas you have for the invitations," Skila said after being quiet for some time now.
I guess I will just have to think about this later when I have time for it to be an intrusive rabbit hole of a thought process. Right now, I have to focus on those invitations. They are very important, after all.
"Okay, so let me pull up the website for the ideas," I said excitedly as I jumped from my seat to go back to my laptop.
"OO, we can make them like howlers!" Skila said excitedly.
"Howlers?" Alana asked.
"Yeah, like from Harry Potter." She replied with a smile on her face.
"Okay, nerd. As much as that sounds intriguing, I don't see Alpha's and other leaders taking kindly to an invitation yelling at them." Anne replied this time.
"Oh, true," Skila said as her ears started turning red at the embarrassing idea.
"But I like the idea of them hearing my voice. The idea is brilliant actually, maybe just without the howling portion." I said with a little laugh. Making a smile form on her face.
"So, we want a magical invitation that moves as if speaking while your voice talks to them, inviting them to the ball slash meeting instead of a traditional word-written letter?" Jade asked.
"I do like the idea; it can show the power within my tone. Maybe I won't be taken as a joke?"
"So do we even need a design if the entire invitation is talking?" Alana then asked.
"I am thinking we should have the front of the envelope be designed and then the seal be our official pack seal, then when they break the seal to open, the invitation will then talk. The opening where the letter normally would be inserted will become the lips, just like how Harry Potter did theirs, only not screaming and it doesn't tear apart at the end?" I replied.
"Okay, and then maybe the letter will be in the color the royals use. They have different colors for different invitations. We could use the exact gold that the royals use. Gold is the color of the invitation that represents mandatory attendance. They cannot decline the invite, otherwise, they are going against the law." Skila said proudly.
"That's brilliant, at least for the wolves. But what about the other species, what will urge them to come?" Jade asked.
"The witches and warlocks will come. The talking invitation is enough to draw our attention. We would attend, for the mere fact of being intrigued at who created such an invite." Alana said with laughter.
"And what about everyone else?" Jade asked again. We all looked at each other, questioning how we were going to reach each species with this invitation, and how we could create something that demands attendance without actually demanding.
"I guess my words have to be deliberate enough to demand attendance without offending anyone at the same time," I said, making everyone's face scrunch in thought at how exactly that would play out.
There is a fine line between aggressive and not when it comes to the tone I will be using. I have to be careful. I'd hate to offend anyone. Although, if they show up, that is what matters, right?
Within an hour, we had completely decided on what to do and immediately got to work. I gathered all the items we would need, and we jumped right in. The front was designed with beautiful lettering in a basic font called script. It wasn't completely cursive, so anyone could read, yet it also gave off a feminine yet elegant vibe. Each letter was personalized with each person's name that was invited. I wanted them to know I was personally inviting them and not just an unoriginal invitation sent off to "whom it may concern". Once the golden envelopes were all typed out and addressed, the real work came into play. I had to say the right words that would bring them here. I don't want to be too demanding, but also, in the same breath, I have to ensure they all come. The words need to be inviting but I also need to urge their minds to want to come.
'Maybe let me talk?' Emery decided to say.
'You may command the wolves' attention, but what about the rest?'
'What about a siren feeling?' She asked. That's not a terrible idea, it's not demanding, it's persuasive. That may be the best way to go.
"Emery has a good idea. She thinks we should use a Siren feel to the tone." I told the girls.
"But you aren't a siren?" Jade said.
"Not exactly, no. But I do have every species of blood running through me. I am not exactly sure how, but I know that I can reach each species at a level of command. It mostly comes naturally in the situations that require me to do so, at least that I have seen so far. I may need a little assistance on how to reach that part of me, but I do believe I can reach it to pull enough siren songs out of me to persuade them all to attend."
"I think it’s worth a try. If it persuades us, then maybe it works?" Alana said next.
"I hope so," I said with hopefulness. Now to figure out how to use that part of myself.
'Just think about it, think about the siren song and how it flowed through our veins. Think about how it made us feel when we heard it. Then use that feeling and speak.' Emery suggested.
"Can someone open an envelope and hold it to my face? I am going to close my eyes and allow a part of myself to take control for a moment." I asked.
Jade was the first to grab an envelope. I closed my eyes and focused on that feeling I felt back at Jakus's and how that siren song made my body feel. Suddenly, I could feel my insides come to life as if I was under the influence of myself. It is hard to describe the way it made me feel. It was like I was free, like I held the power to do whatever I wanted and know it would work. I opened my eyes and gasps were heard around the room.
"Holy shit, your eyes are a vibrant emerald green, they look like they are glowing," Skila said as the others just stared in awe.
I felt like I was unstoppable. This power I could feel radiating inside of me could be dangerous in the wrong body. It was beyond anything I had ever felt in my life. At that moment, I knew exactly what to say, and I knew everyone would listen, even if they didn't want to. I spoke into the invitation as if I was talking on the phone, my voice echoed off the paper filling the room. I wasn't singing, it was just words, but the magic laced with every word as my siren tongue came to life was all it took. Once one was done, I used my hands to replicate the words to go inside each invitation. I didn't want to say the words over and over, so replication with magic was the way to go. After every invite was completed, I felt liberated. A huge relief as the last one was being sealed shut. We made an extra so that we could test it on Leo. He wasn't a wolf, nor was he a mermaid, so he would be the perfect person, plus he wasn't there and under my influence like the girls were. I hope this works.
As we waited for the men to come home, we each took a stack of invites and put stamps on the front. The ball will be held in two weeks. This will allow enough time for everyone to make arrangements to be here. The meeting will be held the following day with all the leaders. I don't expect anyone to take me seriously at first, so I plan to overthrow anyone and everyone who decides to challenge me as their commander. No, I won't be overthrowing their position, they will remain their leader to their group, pack, or clan, but I want everyone to know that I am the Goddess, and I was created to command every species. Of course, I don't want to dictate how stuff is done. I just want to change the ways among the species to make life better for not only everyone now, but also for the next generations to come. At least that is what I hope to do. I want to change how we treat one another. I want to bring us together and learn from our past mistakes. I don't see us all being treated equally, but maybe one day I can change even that.
Once the last invite was stamped, we started to drink some more and gossip. After another hour passed, we heard the elevator ding, which meant one thing. My mates were here. After a moment, Gunner, Leonidas, Daxton, and Laken walked in.
"Hey ladies," Daxton said with his pearly white smile. I could hear Jade's heart spike as he got closer.
'Calm down J, everyone can hear you.' I decided to mind-link her. Her face paled as she realized that everyone in the room could hear her erratic heartbeat. After a few deep breaths, she managed to control herself, just in time for the men to enter the living room.
"Ahh, we weren't invited to the party?" Laken asked as he slid in next to Skila, kissing her on the head in the process.
"It was a girls' night, no men allowed," Skila replied with a giggle.
"We finished the invites. Can we test one on y'all?" Alana spoke next, making the men's faces scrunch up.
"Test it?" Gunner asked, confused.
"Yeah, I want Leo to open it, but maybe you should all stand right behind him. We need to see if it works the way we hope." I replied. The men then got up from their seats and all stood behind Leo. Once they stood in a group before us, Anne handed him the tester invite.
"It’s very pretty," Leo commented.
"Mmmhmm, now open it," Jade said. He slid the seal open, as the envelope seal broke free, and the words left it effortlessly.
'Hello, if you are hearing this, you are invited to a ball. But not just any formal ball. This is the ball that unites us all. It will be a ceremony for not only our new members, but it is also a celebration of my becoming a Luna. The ball will be held on the second Friday of the following month, which will start at seven in the evening. That gives you all two weeks to make arrangements.
My name is Railynn Lane or, as some know me, Callie Richards. As most of you have heard, I am the royal princess. Not only am I the royal princess and the new Luna of The Silvermoon Pack, but what some of you may not know is I am also the legend you may have heard at night. I am, as the legend says, the Goddess of all.
We have recently relocated. Our address is on the front of the invite. This invite is extended to reach all of those that are required to attend not only the ball, but a mandatory meeting held the following day. Please come in your best formal wear as we will be partying in celebration. The night will be filled with dancing, a feast, and socializing. Please bring any un-mated members as we will have room for all, maybe some will even meet their destined mates. Check-in to be assigned rooms will start at four in the afternoon. During the ball, no questions will be asked about why it was mandatory, nor will there be any fighting allowed, save your questions for the meeting. The ball is for us to socialize and get to know each other, let our hair down, and enjoy the night.
The following day, there would be a mandatory meeting with every leader of every species. I will be there to answer questions and prove who I am. If you choose to challenge my command or who I am, the meeting is the place, not the ball.
I am pleased to announce our pack and I cannot wait to meet every one of you. Building trust and alliances among each other will help improve the quality of life.
Thank you for your attendance and I hope you have a wonderful stay at the Newfound Silvermoon Pack.
Yours truly, The Goddess.'
Watching their eyes gloss over as the words spoken from the invitation proved to me that it was working.
"What the hell just happened?" Daxton asked at the end.
"Well, I am going to a ball and a meeting," Leo stated.
"We all are." Gunner laughed.
"How did you do that?" Laken asked, dumbfounded.
"Magic," Skila said with a smile.
"That was more than magic." Leo then replied.
"Alright, well we know they are effective. Now to send them out." Jade said as she clapped her hands together. All the men's faces were still scrunched with confusion.
After explaining to the men what it was, we wrapped up the party. I walked the girls to their respective floors, bidding them goodnight. Once I returned home, I snapped my fingers at the pile of invites, all of them vanishing into thin air as they left for their destinations. The stamps weren't necessary, they just made them look more official. The invitations will all be arriving at their respective destinations by morning.
Two weeks. I have two weeks until I show the world who I am. No more keeping secrets and staying in hiding, it is my time to shine. It is officially time to show the supernatural world of the legend passed down for generations at bedtime, time to show them their Goddess.
