Chapter 69 - The Alpha’s Goddess
~CALLIE'S P.O.V~
Today was a big day, it is the moving day! We finally finished up the renovations and it was time to move in. I was beyond ready and so happy that the hard work was now over, and we were finally able to rest. At least for a moment before we send off the invites to all the species. I hurried down the elevator after getting ready for the day. I came to a halt when a waft of my favorite food came into my nostrils. Following the scent to the pack-house kitchen, I saw Jasmine cooking away alongside some paid omegas that worked in the kitchen.
"Oh darling, you're awake." Lilah, my biological mother's voice sounded from the dining hall.
I turned around and then started making my way over to her. Over the last few weeks, starting the building process, we have become extremely close. Even me and Sklia now have an amazing bond. It was so easy to talk to either of them. Skila still reminds me a lot of our mother Silvia, but I see so much of Lilah in her too. Even though they aren't biologically related, she does have a lot of characteristics about her that are similar to Lilah. I even see some similarities between me and Lilah. It's funny how one could grow up away from their biological parents but have such similar interests and similarities. Guess genes are strong, just like science or hell even Jade has always said.
"Morning everyone," I said to the group Lilah was with. "Hey!" I heard around the room from multiple people.
"Breakfast smells to die for," Lilah said to Jasmine as she walked in with the food she was working on.
"Thank you, your highness. I wanted to feed everyone to give thanks for all that everyone has done to help our pack." Jasmine said.
"It was my pleasure," Lilah said as everyone took their place at the table to begin breakfast.
Lilah has spent a lot of her time here helping but also spending time back at the royal palace where she lives. She delegates her responsibilities so efficiently. My biological father hasn't spent nearly as much time here because he does have a pack and a royal palace to run, which is understandable. Daxton, however, hasn't left at all since we came back. He said that he isn't taking over his responsibilities yet and no longer needs the practice. He insists that he has time to spare before then so that he can get to know me better. I am not sure our father agrees with that, he thinks Daxton needs to come home and take up his role. But it seemed he needed time to himself before that kind of responsibility.
'No, he needs time with his sister. You already took on your role, he hasn't. Therefore, he would rather get to know you while he can then go be a king.' Emery's smart remark comes across. She has been a little snippy lately. It seems as if we both have been at each other's throats recently, figuratively speaking, that is. That is what stress does to you. And the stress has been real.
'You've been snippy too, not just me!' Emery yelled out.
'You're right. I am sorry.' I said, trying to reason with my moody wolf.
'Good.' She smarts off. Goddess helps my soul. I laugh at myself while ignoring Emery as she pipes up with yet another snarky remark about goddess knows what.
Daxton truly is a great guy. I'm not mad at him, or at any of them for that matter. At least, not anymore. I could see how he would try to distance himself from Jade so that he spends his time with me and not her. It isn't because he doesn't like her, I can tell by how he stares at her that he does. I think what it is, is that he is focusing on me so that the battle with his brain and heart is easier. He also sticks around for those moments he does get with Jade when he lets his guard down. I could feel his internal battle. He wants to shield his heart while it is also trying to break free from its hold. He may say they aren't an item, but his actions are completely different. I'm not entirely sure what is stopping him from giving in to his desires. Jade is amazing and would make a wonderful Queen. I've asked him before, but he never wants to talk about it. I know part of the reason, but he always redirects the conversation when I bring it up.
Since being home, Jade and I have not gotten to spend quality time together. We have all been so busy. We have gotten to work alongside each other and were able to chitchat a lot but spending actual personal time together not so much. I am going to have to change that. I miss my best friend.
At this point, all of the pack had made it to the dining hall for our last official meal in this territory. The pure joy it brought me sitting amongst my pack and hearing the sounds of everyone talking happily amongst each other was indescribable. Children laugh in the distance at their table as their mothers' airplane-styled food enters the toddlers' mouths. As everyone was starting to finish breakfast, I took the opportunity to speak to the group.
"So today is a big move. Is everyone ready?" I asked as I stood up.
I could hear children screaming yay while their parents tried shushing them, all the chaos making me smile even more. While others responded with happy glees and yes. This was the right choice. This move will not only help us move on from the losses, but it will also help us thrive and become happy once again. I will ensure this territory is unkept and no bad rogues take shelter here. I may even make it a sanctuary for those who need help and need to get away from their pack but who are not ready to join another, maybe as a resting spot until they know what they want. I have big plans for this territory. It will always be our home, and nobody will take that from me or my pack. But the choice to move our pack’s location was the best choice we could have made.
"Alright everyone, the moving trucks should be arriving soon. I know we have had a lot going on this last month but soon we will be settled into our new homes and our new beginning will soon start. I will be making rounds, going to everyone's home in case anybody needs any extra help. So, in that case, does anybody need me now?"
"Yes." A husky voice says in the doorway. I looked up to see my handsome mate, Gunner. I smiled as he approached. Once he stopped in front of me, he kissed me on the cheek.
"The movers have arrived, I have sent them to their destinations, Leo is out there still, getting everyone in the right area."
"Perfect, okay everyone. Movers are here. I will meet you all outside. Time to get moving!" I said gleefully.
Everyone gets up and goes back to their respective homes to help the movers.
"You ready?" Gunner whispers in my ear. Sending waves of pleasure down my body. Goddess that will never get old.
"More than you'll ever know," I said, as I turned to look at him.
"What would you like us to do, darlin'?" Lilah asked.
I looked over to not only see my mother but also beside her, Jasmine, Makon, Daxton, and Jade. Skila must be with Laken somewhere or they could be moving their belongings already. Leo was still outside delegating. He has been such an amazing asset to our pack. He may not be a wolf, but he sure knows how to fit right in with us all. He has gone above and beyond for every one of us and I couldn't have been happier. This is his home after all, and he deserves to have a bond with the pack just as me and Gunner do. They have been so keen on accepting him, not a single person treats him differently, and that warms my heart even more.
"Jasmine and Makon will have to go to their home and get their movers delegated. Jade, if you're all packed you can add your stuff to ours and we can get it moved. Everyone else spreads out and gets started with assisting anybody who may need it."
"Sounds good." Jade pipes in.
"Hey, will you hang back a moment?" I asked her.
"Of course." She says with a smile. After everyone left the dining hall to start helping the pack, she spoke again. "Is everything okay?"
"Yeah absolutely, I just haven't had the chance to really talk to you, especially not alone. I just miss you." I said truthfully.
"I miss you too. We have been pretty busy lately, huh?"
"That indeed we have been. So, anything that you want to talk about, privately?" I asked, wiggling my eyebrows.
"Stop it." She said as she playfully slapped my arm. "I'd tell you if there were."
"So, there is nothing new?" I asked, concerned.
"I wished." Her voice breaks a little. "What's wrong with me Cal?"
"Absolutely nothing is wrong with you!" I said as I pulled her into my arms in a tight hug.
"Why doesn't he notice me?" She asked as I loosened my grip on her.
"Daxton?"
"Yeah, him. If this is too weird for you, we don't have to talk about it. I know he is your brother and all."
"This is not weird for me and trust me, he notices you. He just needs that extra push. You know?"
"I don't know, if I did, then he would be mine already." She said as her hands went up in the air dramatically.
"He just needs a little more time. His mate-"
"I had a mate too. I know the feeling of loss." She interrupts me, reminding me of the mate she rejected. The mate we had in our dungeons before Gunner took care of them all. I never asked what he did with them. I didn't want to know. I just know we no longer have any prisoners at the moment, including her ex-mate.
"Of course, you know the feeling of losing a mate, but his loss wasn't the same as yours. He was fully mated to her; they were expecting their own pup when she died." I tried wording it, so she understood his pain was another level of loss.
"I.I.I didn't know that."
"I know, which is the only reason why I am telling you. Because I don't want you to give up on him. He won't tell you that, because if he did, then it would make him vulnerable to you, and that scares him. Just give him time. He cares about you; I can see it in his eyes. But he isn't ready to accept and move on yet. But he will just give him some time, okay?"
"Okay, but what if he just isn't interested? How much time do I have to wait?"
"He is most definitely interested. But I can't give you a time limit on how long you should wait. If you can't wait, then don't."
"I can. I can wait." She said as her entire demeanor changed from doubtful to hopeful.
"How about after we get moved in, we meet up after dinner? We have to have dinner at the packhouse for our first official night with the entire pack, but then afterward maybe we can have some wine and have girl time. Just you and me, and maybe even Skila, if you're down for that? And while we have our drinky drinks, can you assist me with the nationwide invites?"
"I am down with that."
"And how about Skila?"
"I like her."
"Yeah, but if we are having girl time, are you okay with her being there?" I asked.
"I guess, I mean we aren't exactly close, but if you want her there."
"I think it would be a wonderful way to break the ice," I said with a smile.
"Heck, maybe even a few others can join us."
"Like whom?" She asked.
Jade has always been the kind to take a while to warm up to new people. She may be bubbly and outgoing, but she is also reserved in a sense too.
"Maybe Alana?"
"Ooo okay and what about Anne?"
"Yeah, her too. Can we make it a much-needed girls’ night?"
"Girl’s night with work." She groaned out.
"Yes, with work. But it will be more like crafting rather than work. What do you say?"
"I say hell yeah, do you want me to invite them or you?"
"How about you go invite them while I start my Luna duties and check on the pack?"
"Deal!" She said before pulling me into her tight embrace letting me go and taking off.
"See you tonight!" She hollered as she left the dining hall, leaving me alone. I took a deep breath before heading out as well. Time to get this show on the road.
I had some people cleaning up the kitchen for breakfast. We will be leaving the appliances behind and the dishes. At the new pack house, we bought brand new kitchen items. I wanted these to remain here if we happened to have visitors come here. The food, of course, was already packed, aside from what was needed for breakfast today. I didn't expect to have this area operating as a sanctuary just yet, so the food would've spoiled. There is no sense in that.
Movers were coming in and out as they worked on many rooms here in the pack house. We decided to leave the furniture and the game room stuff here and just replace them in our new home, for the same reason as the kitchen appliances. So, they were moving mostly clothing items, since all bedroom stuff was replaced in the new pack house, we opted to only move the clothing and other items that were needed.
I chose to take all of my parents' personal belongings, however. I couldn't part with anything. Luckily, we have the space for it. I also have an idea for some of the items as well.
I walked to the elevator to go upstairs to ensure everything was going smoothly. Once I checked on the pack house movers, I left to start my rounds at each home to ensure that everything was going well.
I made my first stop at one of the nearby houses. The elderly woman was hollering at the mover to be gentle with her breakables, which were antiques and China.
"Hello Mrs. White, anything I can do to assist?"
"Oh Luna, welcome welcome. Sorry for the mess. Well, I am sure you were prepared to see the mess. But not at the moment dear, all is fine in the White House. This fine young man has been a delight and most helpful." She said, gesturing to Daxton. I nodded with a smile.
"Okay, I am going to go around to see if anyone needs me. If you end up needing me, just shoot me a link?"
"Of course, of course."
I parted ways with her as I made my rounds. My family helped out in all the right spots, leaving me with not nearly as much to do myself. Trucks were continuously pulling out and leaving while new ones were returning.
'I need some food.' Emery pipes up.
'We just had breakfast not long ago?'
'AND!? I am still hungry.'
This attitude needs to be checked. I can't have her popping off at any given minute.
'Emery, I know you’re on edge and all, but please try to contain your attitude. We have a lot on our plate and yelling over every little thing is just making our day harder.'
'I am sorry... I am just a little overstimulated and a little on edge.'
'A little?'
'Okay, a lot. But I am still hungry.'
'And that is fine. But please remember we can communicate, no sense in everything being a fight, we are one. And being one means we are a team, we don't need to fight, okay?'
'I’m sorry, feed me?'
'I will feed you grump.'
I said as I closed the link to go find a snack. My moody wolf is rubbing off on me more than I like to admit. The sooner this stressful month is over, the sooner we can get back in sync and back to normal. I rushed up to my floor in the old pack house to search for anything we may not have packed. Luckily, on the table was a beef jerky stick, some grapes, a small bag of chips, a sandwich, and a bottle of water. Underneath the bottle was a note.
'Thought you may need a little snack.
xoxo, Leo'
'At least mate loves me!' Emery said with drool in her mouth.
I ignore her as I dive right into the food. Goddess, I didn't realize I was this hungry!
'Told you.' Emery said again.
'Yes, you did.' I replied as I shoved the food into my mouth, moaning at the delightful taste. After I finished eating, I got back to work. Moving took nearly all morning. We have sent some people to the new pack house to prepare a big feast for tonight. Once the last moving truck left, the pack members gathered around for transportation. Earlier in the week, we had multiple people transporting all of the vehicles because it was an entire day's worth of driving, and teleporting vehicles isn't exactly ideal. So, no vehicles were left behind and we were all ready to get to the property. We will obviously beat our belongings back to the property, but that is fine. Tomorrow we will begin unpacking and settling in. But tonight, we celebrate.
When we got the last batch of members to our new property, they were all parting ways and going to their respective homes. We had a few more hours to spare before dinner, so I am sure they are all just getting settled in their homes with what was already dropped off. I headed to the pack house. When I walked inside, there were people all over the place talking and having a good time. This was what I loved the most; our members talked happily, and everyone was safe.
The time flew by, it was already a quarter to 7 pm. Which is the time dinner is being served, so I made my way down to see if the chefs needed any last-minute assistance before dinner was served. When I got to the kitchen, they were moving around so effortlessly, like a true team.
"Luna, can we help you?" A chef stopped and asked.
"Just checking to see if any last-minute assistance is needed?"
"No Luna, everything is ready, and the servers are distributing the food as we speak."
"Okay, make sure you all take time to eat with us. Tonight is a special night."
"Yes Luna, Thank you."
I walked out to the dining hall as families began to flood in and take their seats. I made my way to where both my mates were seated. When I got to my seat, both of them stood up to greet me. Both kissed each side of my cheek as Leo pulled my seat out for me before walking around the table to his seat. Gunner was seated at the head of the table while I sat to the right of him, Leo to the left. To show leadership accordingly. Next to me sat Skila, while next to her was Laken and his family. Across the table next to Leo sat Daxton, then Lilah, and next sat Gunner's parents and younger brother. After everyone was seated and accounted for, Gunner stood to make a toast before we started the meal. He lifted his glass into the air for a toast before he started speaking.
"Thank you all for joining us on this glorious day. I want to thank every one of you for all your hard work and dedication to this pack as we made the transition to our new home. Thank you to everyone who poured their hearts into making this wonderful meal and a big thanks to everyone for supporting us. Enjoy dinner. Tomorrow starts the beginning of our new lives. Cheers."
The room was soon filled with cups lifted high in the air before everyone gulped down a drink. Laughter and talking then filled the room, as everyone started to fill their plates. The atmosphere made my heart fill with joy.
We are officially home.
