Chapter 213 Elara's POV
Chapter 213 Elara's POV
The vision hit me without warning. I was reviewing supply reports in my office when suddenly I wasn't there anymore.
I was somewhere else, somewhere else, a small cottage. Night screams echoing through the darkness outside.
My parents. I saw them clearly for the first time in fifteen years. My mother, holding not one baby, but two. Identical twins wrapped in blankets.
Me and another baby girl.
"We don't have much time," My father said, his voice desperate. "Erebus's forces are already inside the pack house. They will be here any minute.
"I can't do this," my mother sobbed, clutching both babies. "I can't choose. They are both my daughters and my children."
"We have no choice. The prophecy is clear. Two daughters of the Silvercrest line born under the crescent moon will bring either salvation or destruction.”
“We can't risk both surviving. Can't risk the prophecy coming true."
"How do we know which one? Which is light and which is shadow?"
My father looked at both babies. I saw him examining them closely. "This one."
He pointed to one baby me. "She bears the crescent mark. The blessing of the heavens She's the light."
"And the other?"
"Has no mark, no blessing. That's the sign. She's the shadow twin. The one who will bring destruction if she lives."
"No. No, I won't abandon my baby in the forest to die. I won't-"
"Sarah, we don't have a choice!"
My father's voice broke. "If we keep both, the prophecy says our entire pack will fall. Every member. Every family has hundreds of deaths because we were too selfish to make the hard choice."
"There has to be another way-"
"There isn't! I've consulted every elder. Every seer. They all say the same thing. One must live. One must be abandoned. It's the only way to save our pack."
Erebus's forces were getting closer. I could hear them destroying homes. Killing people. Moving toward the cottage.
"Please," my mother begged. "Please don't make me do this."
"I'll do it. Give her to me."
My father took the second baby, the one without the mark. Wrapped her tighter in the blanket.
"I will hide her in the forest. Deep enough that Erebus won't find her. Maybe... maybe someone will find her.”
“Maybe she will survive and have a different life. Away from the prophecy, away from the destruction."
"And if no one finds her? If she dies alone in the cold?"
"Then at least she won't fulfill the dark half of the prophecy. At least she won't become the destruction that ends us all."
He ran. Out the back of the cottage. Into the forest. I saw him running with the baby, tears streaming down his face.
He found a hollow tree. Large. Sheltered. He placed the baby inside carefully. Kissed her forehead.
"I'm so sorry," He whispered.
"Forgive me, forgive us. We're saving you from a terrible fate. From becoming something dark and destructive this is the only mercy we can offer."
Then he ran back to my mother and me. Back to try to save what was left of the pack.
He didn't make it.
Erebus's forces caught him at the cottage entrance. Killed him as he tried to protect my mother and me.
My mother grabbed me and ran. Hide in the closet. The same closet where I'd been found years later with no memory.
And my sister and my twin were left alone in the forest. Abandoned. Left to die or survive on her own.
The vision released me. I gasped, back in my office shaking and crying. I had a sister. A twin sister abandoned because of a prophecy.
All the blackouts, the missing time, the waking up covered in blood. The reports of seeing me in places I'd never been.
It wasn't possession, it wasn't me going crazy. It was her, my twin still alive, still out there.
And she'd been watching me. Follow me. Maybe even trying to contact me.
I needed answers. Needed confirmation that what I'd seen was real and not just trauma-induced hallucination.
Elder Miriam was dead, but she had a sister. Elder Ruth. Also elderly, also knowledgeable about pack history.
I found her in the gardens, tending to herbs.
"Elder Ruth. I need to ask you about something. About Silvercrest pack traditions."
She looked up, her weathered face cautious. "What about them?"
"Twins. What happened when twins were born in the Silvercrest pack?"
Her expression changed. Fear. Guilt. Recognition.
"You know something, tell me. Please."
"Luna Elara, some traditions are better left buried-"
"Tell me about shadow-touched twins."
She went pale. "How do you know about that?"
"I saw it. A vision. My parents abandoned a baby in the forest. My twin sister. Tell me if it's true. Tell me the whole story."
Elder Ruth sat down heavily on a bench. "Sit, child. This is not an easy tale to tell."
I sat beside her, my hands shaking.
"The Silvercrest pack had a prophecy. Passed down for generations. It spoke of twins born under the crescent moon to the Alpha bloodline.”
‘One bearing the light of the goddess. One bearing the shadow of the void. Together, they would either save or destroy all wolf packs."
"Save or destroy not one or the other."
