Chapter 329
Chapter 329
Isabella's POV
Sarah covered her mouth, the third time she had yawned in five minutes. The remnants of birthday cake, opened gift wrappings, and half-empty champagne glasses were scattered throughout the living room. Clearly, the hours of celebration had left the birthday girl somewhat exhausted.
"It looks like we should say goodbye," I gently put my arm around her shoulders and said softly, the birthday girl had completed her duties for the day and could rest easy now.
Sarah smiled gratefully, leaning against me for a moment. "This has been the best birthday ever, but I'm really worn out."
The remaining few pack members also began gathering their things, everyone taking Sarah's yawn as the official signal that the party was over.
"Don't worry about cleaning up," I reassured her, "I'll tidy up the main areas, and I'll make sure William gets home too. We'll come back tomorrow to help you clean everything thoroughly."
"Thank you, Izzy." Sarah squeezed my hand, her eyes full of gratitude, "I really am about to collapse."
I smiled and moved closer, gently kissing her cheek. "The party was truly wonderful, thank you for inviting us."
Sarah smiled and shook her head, "You always like to control everything, don't you? Let the birthday girl take charge for once."
I helplessly surrendered with raised hands, "Alright, guilty as charged. We'll come back tomorrow to help clean up the aftermath."
Just then, Gabriel approached with Lucian in his arms. "I think this little meatball is already tired," he said tenderly, passing our son to me.
I took Lucian and noticed his little eyelids were already fighting to stay open. We quietly said our goodbyes to Sarah and slipped away, leaving her to enjoy the final moments of her birthday in peace.
Outside, I leaned against the car, unable to hold back a soft sigh, my heart full of joy.
"What's making you so happy?" Gabriel asked curiously as he unlocked the car door.
"Sarah's party was amazing. I just realized that in a few months it will be my own birthday. That will be my first birthday as a mother of two children!" I said, rising slightly on my tiptoes with Lucian in my arms, full of anticipation, "By then we'll have two babies to celebrate with. Can you imagine that?"
Gabriel looked at me, his eyes soft and doting. "You were born to be a good mother, sweet Isabella."
He leaned down, his voice low and teasing, "And I certainly don't mind the process of getting you pregnant."
"Gabriel!" I exclaimed in pretend surprise, quickly covering Lucian's ears, "Don't say such things in front of the baby!"
"As if we don't kiss in front of him all the time," Gabriel grinned.
"That's different." I couldn't help but laugh, "Kissing is very natural."
After returning home, I carried Lucian into the room. Gabriel followed behind, pulling me into his arms as soon as we entered.
"Sarah's party was perfect," I said softly, "but I bet we could throw an even better one."
"Without a doubt," Gabriel smiled confidently, "Our family celebrations will definitely become legendary."
"I completely agree."
Gabriel leaned down to kiss me, then playfully patted my bottom. "I'll go take William home, you take care of getting this little guy ready for bed."
"Deal."
After Gabriel left, I focused attentively on caring for Lucian. Although he was already very tired, he was still trying hard to keep his eyes open, refusing to sleep.
"Did you have fun at Aunt Sarah's birthday party today?" I teased him, gently tickling his little tummy.
Lucian giggled and babbled in response.
"I have to warn you in advance," I joked as I changed his diaper and put on his pajamas, "after your little sister is born, you can't just think about playing, you'll have to share responsibilities too."
He just smiled at me, continuing to make adorable sounds.
"I'll take that as agreement." I laughed, kissing his chubby cheeks.
About half an hour later, Gabriel returned and found mother and son lying on the bed, Lucian playing with soft blocks while I quietly kept him company.
"I don't want to disturb your parent-child time." Gabriel said softly from the doorway.
"Come over," I patted the empty space beside me, "we missed you."
Gabriel climbed onto the bed without hesitation, not even taking off his coat, eager to reunite with us.
I looked at him, my heart full of happiness. Moments like these were simple yet precious.
"Did the party make you tired?" Gabriel asked with concern, "Or hungry? Do you want me to get you something to eat?"
"Actually, a bit of both," I admitted with a smile, "but let's wait until this little one falls asleep."
I snuggled against Gabriel, feeling his warmth. "You're like a little heater, is that a werewolf trait?"
"It's just one of our many charming qualities." he whispered in my hair.
Suddenly, I felt a chill in the air. “Did the temperature just drop?” I looked
up at Gabriel.
He paused for a moment, then turned his gaze to the window. “Look.”
Following his line of sight, I gasped. Outside, delicate snowflakes were
drifting down, decorating the night sky over Silver Creek City.
“It’s snowing? Isn’t it a bit early for that?” I asked in surprise, captivated by
the beautiful scene.
A faint smile played at Gabriel’s lips. “Among werewolves, it’s said that
unusual weather during special moments is a blessing from the Moon
Goddess. Maybe she’s celebrating Sarah’s birthday.”
I nodded, though a subtle sense of unease lingered in my heart. “Sarah
had been especially emotional tonight… Was it really just a coincidence?”
“It’s beautiful.” I murmured, feeling both the serenity and mystery of the
moment, along with a vague sense of doubt. “This is the perfect ending to
Sarah’s birthday.”
Gabriel echoed softly, “Whatever the reason, this night is one to
remember.”
Lucian crawled over, raising his arms for me to pick him up. I lifted him, pointing outside: "Look, baby, it's snowing!"
My free hand instinctively covered my belly, feeling a wave of happiness for the daughter in my womb. "This blessing must also belong to our baby. We already love her so much."
In this moment, surrounded by Gabriel's warmth, holding Lucian in my arms, with our daughter growing inside me, I felt a happiness I had never known before. The Moon Goddess was truly watching over us silently, making everything so beautiful and perfect.
