Chapter 205

Connor

The following days were a great challenge. And I understood Collin now. Perfectly. Getting used to wolves around their cubs was something I had to force myself to do. I never thought that one day I would be a jealous wolf, but after I saw my children being born, it was as if even with my wolves, I needed to always be around them.

However, I saw the admiration, affection and protection of the pack towards my family. Mesec would be the future Alpha, after all. And it was actually quite pleasant to keep my cubs wrapped around my wolves too. Susan was happy, and I was even more so. My female was pampered all the time because she was pregnant with twins. A rarity in our species and a blessing. I was a lucky wolf to have her by my side.

My heart overflowed whenever I looked at Susan. I never thought she would be able to feel anything like this in her life. She was my other half, my very soul and I would protect her from everything, just as she would protect my puppies tooth and nail.

Susan

I was there to see my brother become Alpha. Just like our pack was too.

A month had passed after the twins were born. Peter looked like a changed wolf at first glance, but I died laughing when I saw him circling our father as if the Alpha would give up on handing over leadership to him at any moment. After all, Bernard was nearby and always keeping an eye on everything. The second in command was so elegant, he exuded confidence and firmness wherever he went. Very different from Peter who was more on the side of brute force and spontaneity.

Peter hugged me tightly as soon as we arrived at the pack and fussed over Mesec who was tied to me in the kangaroo pouch. Just like my father did when he saw us. Connor remained by my side at all times and on his strong forearm, Lirine was carried in baby comfort. She, unlike Mesec, didn't sleep at all during the trip and I had to breastfeed her for the second time, because before leaving home, she had already breastfed.

She was a real sweet tooth.

“Everyone here is looking at you two.” Peter said greeting Connor.

"I perceived." My companion smiled so beautifully that I sighed. He looked at me and put his arm around my waist.” It must be because of my female.

“Everyone is talking about the luckiest Alphas around.” Peter winked at me and I smoothed Mesec's black hair as he held back his proud smile. He slept peacefully with his face against my chest.

A few wolves passed by and nodded at me in respect, just like they did with Connor. I still wasn't used to all this, but it was nice to feel the recognition of my father's pack too. The respect they had for the alliance we created.

Connor leaned closer to me and whispered in my ear:

“I know I don’t need to say it again, but I will.” Her voice was chillingly hoarse.” You are the most beautiful thing in the world.” I felt my stomach tingle, like I always did when Connor spoke in my ear.

“Stop it already.” I whispered back and leaned my shoulder against him, needing that closeness.” You are the best thing”

“By God...” Peter mumbled, completely interrupting our moment.” Can I steal Lirine while you flirt?” Maika is crazy about her.” I looked around for Maika and found her on the other side of the garden talking to another wolf. And when she looked my way as if she felt the gaze too, I waved.

“Maika, right?” I raised the corner of my lips ironically.” Okay, you can steal it.

“I don’t think it’s a good idea”

I narrowed my eyes at Connor and he stopped talking. He was still trying to deal with his uncontrolled paternal jealousy that lasted even longer than Collin's. After all, Jasper was also cute and was the couple's first child.

My companion held out the baby carrier where Lirine was lying comfortably and Peter smiled as he picked her up. The little girl had her eyes watching everything around her.

“Do you know why my niece is the most beautiful?” Peter asked and Connor raised an eyebrow.” Because she looks like me.” I laughed and saw him wave at both of us before walking away.

“I’m watching your every move, Peter.” Connor made it clear before my brother pulled away completely.

“Okay, okay.” He was already a few meters away from his companion when she responded.

I looked at Connor and he looked back at me. Then I started laughing uncontrollably when I saw the sulky pout on his face.

“You’re doing great, Daddy.” I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and he snorted before following me to a garden table.

The day was cool and the sun appeared from time to time behind the white clouds. I gave Connor Mesec to hold a little and stretched while he observed something that interested me.

Bernard was talking to Dominic near the porch and for the first time since we arrived, Bernard was actually smiling. Something that my eyes caught like the flashes of a camera.

“Hey, Connor…” I nudged him in the side.” What is that?" I showed it with my chin and he looked in the same direction. His eyes narrowed and his nose wrinkled as he sniffed lightly.

"Do not ask me. I can’t tell you.” He responded.

The wolf with burnt blond hair and Spanish descent seemed to be having fun as he told Bernard something. This one now had even longer hair since the last time I saw him. The two had a height difference, Bernard being a few inches taller and seemed inclined to listen to every word Dominic said. And unlike before, he was no longer paying attention to everything. His attention was focused completely on Dominic.

But then, Kendall's voice pulled my attention away from the two wolves and I looked at my father as he started to speak.

“Thank you for being here once again. On such an important day for both territories.” Someone whistled among the wolves.” Today is the day that I finally transfer my leadership and leave my place as Alpha. Everyone knows how grumpy I was when my son left here.” He looked at Peter.” But here is the man who would one day become the worthy Alpha of our pack.

“Did your father give a speech when it was your turn?” I whispered to Connor who was watching everything carefully.

"Fortunately no. There was no speech. He went straight to the ritual.” And then he shook my hand.

“Are you ready, Peter Turner Ross?” Kendall asked and my brother nodded smiling.” So step forward.” Kendall waited until Peter did. My brother looked at Maika who was next to him and winked at her, who returned a smile while holding my daughter in her lap. Maika would now be the future Alpha of the pack. A submissive wolf who saved my father and saved this place. My respect for her was huge.

I watched as Kendall's thumb claw grew sharp. He raised his own arm and made a streak of blood that began to drip onto the green grass. And then he extended his arm to Peter.

My brother looked at the newly made cut and seemed to know what to do when he grabbed his father's arm and grabbed the cut site.

I furrowed my eyebrows.

"What is that?" I asked quietly.

“Blood transfer.” He replied smiling and I continued watching while Peter drank the Alpha's blood.

And then everyone started to get up one by one and I did the same as Connor got up too. Peter pulled his lips away from the already healed cut and when he stood straight again, his eyes were the brightest color of spring. A rich emerald green so mesmerizing it was like running through a completely open wild meadow.

And then all the wolves in Kendall's pack began to kneel. In respect and loyalty to the new Alpha.

My brother. My strong and persevering brother.

"Restart". That's what he always said to me. And I was overflowing with pride.

Yes, he was starting over too. Starting over in a fantastic and beautiful way.

I pressed my lips together in excitement and saw each wolf getting down on one knee and lowering their heads. Just like Kendall himself did.

My body shivered from head to toe and I swallowed the lump that formed in my throat.

At some point, Peter looked at me and my eyes were probably full of tears because he smiled condescendingly and his eyes sparkled.

"I love you little sister..."

I held back a sob and saw that Connor looked at me. But Peter continued to speak:

"You'll never need to run away again, because I'll always be here for you." I felt the hot damn tear running down my face.” "Everyone will be here for you."

"I love you, Peter." I replied.

"Please, do not cry." Connor rubbed my back and kissed my cheek.

For some reason, it was possible to make this connection between my mind and my brother's mind. It was like talking to Connor when we were transformed. I wasn't surprised by this, because it felt as natural as breathing. This is because true alliances were the strongest that existed, but blood ties were eternal.
