Chapter 204
Susan cried even more when Lori handed the newborn into her arms.
“My little Lirine…” She cooed, her eyes shining.
That scene was the most beautiful I've ever seen. In fact, I couldn't say what was prettier since Susan went into labor. All of this was... too incredible to believe.
“It looks like Jasper is going to have not one, but two new friends.” Lori said happily and clipped each of their belly buttons before handing me a pair of scissors. I walked over and did it quickly. And now they were literally free in the world.
Susan was already the most amazing mother. That much I was sure of.
Susan
Connor was now next to me in bed watching every move the twins made as I breastfed them for the first time. Twins... I should have suspected the weight and tiredness I felt at all times during the pregnancy. And now after giving birth, I was extremely exhausted, but seeing those babies made me want to look at them forever. Every line, every flutter of the eyelids, every movement of the mouth and smooth skin was a delight.
“Lirine takes after you.” Connor couldn't stop looking, as did I. We were mesmerized and he was stroking her fine hair, which was a little darker than mine. Closer to brown. Just like Uncle Peter's.
“We have to warn others.
“We can do that after you rest, Susan.” He looked at me and left a kiss on the corner of my lips.” You were amazing and I've never seen anything like it before, but you're hollow-eyed and exhausted.
“We need to buy another crib.” I smiled and looked back at the twins. I couldn't believe these little things had come out of me.
“We will also do this later. It won't hurt if they sleep together for a while.
“I want to look at them forever.” Connor laughed at me and tucked my bangs behind my ear.
“I know, me too, but please, you need to rest.” I sighed discontentedly, but I knew he was right. I was barely able to hold the twins in each arm I was so tired. But when I pulled away the twins who were suckling so fiercely, I saw Mesec opening his eyes and then Lirine did the same. They were the purest color of honey.
“I don’t want to say anything, but it seems like my genetics are strong.” I chuckled and handed Mesec to his father.
“Because I prefer my puppies to have your eyes instead of mine. Because every time I look at them, I will remember their mother.” My heart jumped when I heard that.
I felt my eyes water and I leaned over until I could kiss my partner.
"I love you." I said between the kiss. He cupped my face and slid his lips over mine with so much affection that I sobbed with emotion. Apparently I still had high hormones, because it was impossible for me to love someone that much.
"I love you too.
After that he picked up the twins and placed them in their crib. Which was now comfortably settled in the corner of the room. Connor hurried to bring the furniture after Lori and he cleaned the entire floor and changed the sheets. After a while, I was clean again and nursing the twins while I watched Connor tidy up the rest of the things.
Lori stayed talking to me for a few minutes while drooling over my babies. She explained some things that I needed to know in the first few days, such as breastfeeding, products and several other things that she had already explained to me before. In fact, I had learned a lot during these six months. Overall, learning how to be a good mother.
But in practice, I already knew that the love I felt for them would take me in directions I never imagined I would go before. And I would give my life for my little babies if I had to.
Susan
The next day, I said I was going to call Peter to tell him the news, but Connor interrupted me saying he wasn't ready to receive visitors yet. I looked at his face with Mesec on his lap and laughed while Lirine slept in the crib after feeding. Mesec had more trouble falling asleep than she did.
“Aren’t you ready, daddy?” I asked ironically and Connor nodded while looking at Mesec with his honey eyes still wide. He and his sister were the cutest things in the world.
At night, Connor took my cell phone and handed it to me.
"Here." He looked sorry.” I was an asshole, sorry. You can warn your brother and father about our children.” I smiled and stroked his jaw before pulling him in for a kiss. He murmured when he felt our lips together.
“It's okay, I understand how it is, Connor. I won’t blame you for wanting time with me and the twins before the others arrive.” He stroked my cheek and I picked up my cell phone. I went to the sofa and sat down, dialing Peter's number. Connor sat on the arm of the couch and watched me.
"Hello?" Little sister?" Peter's voice was cheerful.
“Hi…” I opened a smile. She was missing him.” I know the weekend isn't here yet, but I have some news to share.
"Lie!!" He interrupted me excitedly.” By God, have you already given birth?” And that?"
"Yes." I laughed and saw Connor smiling at me.
"Is it a boy or a girl?"
“Guess you'll have to come see for yourself.
Peter arrived the next morning. Kendall and Maika were with him and Connor greeted them at the door with his shoulders visibly tense. He was forcing himself to welcome other wolves into his family space, better known as the "nest" in his head. But I was happy that he was overcoming his instincts for me. I was with Lirine on the couch and Mesec was in the baby seat right next to me when Peter ran up to me with his eyes wide and his mouth wide open.
“Twins Susan?” No kidding…” He looked at Lirine and then at Mesec and bent down to take his little hand. He was silent still looking at the baby as Kendall also approached.” This one looks like his father.” He said and held back a laugh.
Kendall came up to me and kissed my cheek in a loving length before sitting down next to me.
"How are you?" She asked.
“I’m perfect.” I smiled openly and greeted Maika who also approached. She looked beautiful and her eyes sparkled at the twins. I looked at Lirine who had her eyes open looking at everything that was moving around. Kendall looked at her with his lips pressed together and an expression on his face that made my heart go soft.” Do you want to hold her?”
"I can?"
“Of course I do… You’re her grandfather.” He clasped his hands looking from me to Lirine until he quickly rolled up his shirt sleeve and leaned in closer. I gave Lirine to my father and he held her so carefully that I thought she might break at any moment.
The great Alpha Kendall Turner now looked at the little face of his granddaughter who had her big eyes looking at him. She was quiet and comfortable in his strong arms, full of dark scars. A beautiful contrast that I never imagined I would see in my life.
“She’s perfect...” He said and I felt Connor’s hand land on my shoulder behind me.” What names did you choose?”
“Mesec and Lirine.
When I looked to the side, Peter was already holding Mesec too. Maika was right next door watching everything and ready to respond if something went wrong. As if that were possible with Connor in the same environment.
“This little guy is going to be a lot of work.” Peter laughed.” Send them to me when they are old enough. I will teach them everything I know.” I opened a smile.
“That’s out of the question.” Connor grumbled.
“Come on... I'm their uncle and the future Alpha of the pack. They will be protected there.
“You’re not Alpha yet.” Connor replied.
“But I still am.” Kendall interrupted.” And any individual who wishes harm to my grandchildren will pay with their life, you can bet on it.” I held back my smile and looked at Maika who was doing the same.
Males.
