Saving Sirens - Part 2

Saving Sirens - Part 2
She sat him down on a chair nearby, and Drake stepped forward. “Mom and Dad want to talk to you before they speak to your dad. I will stay by your dad.” She kissed him on the cheek and smiled at her dad before walking towards Drake’s parents. “So, you are the guy my daughter has been dreaming about?” Drake turned and looked at Merymere’s father. “My name is …” Before he could say anything, her father spoke his name first. “Drake. You are the son of Celine and Dominique. Merymere used to have dreams about you when she was small. She is special. Take care of her.” He shook Drake’s hand, and they spoke about Merymere when she was still small and what she has been like since Drake met her.

A few feet away, Celine looked at her, a soft glint in her eyes. “Sweetheart, we got hold of your mom. Our Beta, Drake, is on his way with her here right now. From what we have heard so far from the others, most of the men who were taken years ago were unfortunately killed shortly after they were taken. The 10 who are here, 9 of them were kept alive, to try to convince your dad to give you up. Shortly after your clan relocated to the fishing town, the dark witches went back to where they found the men, looking for you.”

Merymere looked at Celine, confused. “Why would they be looking for me?” Dominique motioned for someone behind her to step forward. Merymere turned to see her mom look at her dad, shocked. She ran over to him and hugged him tight, crying into his neck as he just hugged her back, and a few tears rolled down his cheeks. As they calmed down, they turned to see Merymere standing there, looking at them with so much love in her eyes that she didn’t even realize that Drake was standing next to her. “Hey, go say hi to your mom.” She stepped towards them and ended up freezing mid-step. “Wait, your mom said the dark witches were after me. Why?” Drake looked at her, “I think your parents might be able to tell you.” He gave her a reassuring smile as she walked over to her parents.

“Hey, Mom, Dad… Daddy, you ok? Momma, how did you get here?” She wasn’t sure how to ask the only question that was burning in her brain. “I am ok, Songbird. Just a little exhausted and very hungry.” Her dad cupped her cheek. Her mom looked at her and then at Celine. “Celine got hold of me and told me that 10 of the men from our clan have been rescued. She asked me to come over as the head of our clan and see who needs to be contacted to come here, of the women.” She hugged her mom, and she knew there was no easy way of asking what she needed to know.

“Mom, Dad, … Why are the witches after me?”… Drake stood next to her, holding her around the waist, to show support. Her mom looked at her, then at her dad. “You are the first siren in 1000 years that has more abilities than just a siren’s song. You can read minds, to shift, and to shed your skin. I just never told you as you grew up, so that I could protect you. Because every time you shift and shed skin, you send out a very distinct smell that witches can detect with a specific spell.’ Her mom looked so guilty, so she walked to her and hugged her tight. “It’s ok, momma, no one will ever harm any one of our kind again.”

Her dad got up, looked over at Drake, “Remember I told you that she used to dream about you. It wasn’t just you; she dreamt of Michelle and all the others. She dreamt one night that something would happen to me, and I promised her that if it did happen, I would find my way back to her and my wife. When she met you, I felt it, and I knew that it wouldn’t be long, that I had to get everyone ready. There was this bright light, and we brought it to the portal pond. A figure with a beautiful voice, wearing a hood, took us there. She told us that you kids are the only ones who can fight this war. We can help prepare and train you, but the fight is yours.”

Drake knew he was talking about the moon goddess. “Don’t worry, sir, I will always take care of Merymere. She will be my Luna and the Queen of the werewolf kingdom.” Her mom and dad smiled at Drake as Celine and Dominique came over. Merymere did the introductions, and she and Drake went to stand by the others, watching all the white witches and warlocks cast a spell to cover the school and its grounds in a protective globe-like shield. They watched as a glow flowed down from the sky, over the grounds and the buildings. It had a beautiful shimmer to it and reminded Merymere of the beach back home. She looked back into the hall, seeing her parents talking to the rest of the sirens they rescued. She felt proud, but even more so, knowing that none of the groups had to leave; all 50 candidates were part of the Elite Team. Looking over at Michelle, she could see something was bothering her.
