Saving Sirens - Part 1
Saving Sirens - Part 1
Five groups flanked Drake to the left and made their way to the pond. They knew not everyone could shift, so they chose to all stay in human form. They all made sure to check on every candidate they were running with. They had 5 hours, but Drake knew that the stronger groups were with Darius and Michelle. “Save us…. Please save us….” Darius stopped and looked at the rest of the group, “Did anyone else hear that?” The other four group leaders looked down at the necklaces around their necks. Remus spoke up, “It’s the necklaces. We need to keep our minds clear; do not pay attention to the voices. Once we get in the water, they will be safe.”
Drake nodded, and they all moved on again. He could feel Merymere was getting more and more worried. He grabbed her hand and squeezed it a few times. The simple gesture meant so much to her at that moment; it gave her the strength that she needed to move forward. As they ran, she could see Drake’s head whip to the side, the wear nearing a section of the woods that would rejoin with the other 5 groups. A few minutes later, she saw Darius and Michelle run in the front, Michelle holding the hand of one of the girls, making sure that she pulls through. At the back was Lumus, making sure no one stayed behind.
Michelle and Drake locked eyes for just a second, and they all ran together towards the pond. As they got closer, Michelle felt a presence of someone who was not invited. “Group leaders, get the necklaces into the water. Everyone else, with me. Flank the leaders, keep them safe. Wolves and dragons with me. Witches, warlocks, sirens, and everyone else form an inner circle between us and the group leaders. All humans, for another tighter circle between them and the leaders. Stay in tight formation, protect each other, and make sure those necklaces get into the water.”
Everyone else did as told, though they weren’t sure what was going on. As they reached a small clearing very close to the pond, Michelle signaled for them to spread out into formation. They ran, and Michelle saw some dark figures emerging from the tree line to her right. “Shifters, shift now.” She chose to shift into her lycan, letting Silver take over, because something gave her the idea that showing she was an angel was not a good idea now. The other wolves and the dragons all shifted. Those dark figures turned out to be dark witches. The white witches that were on the formation ranks fell into formation between the shifters, and so did the sirens. The others kept moving forward towards the pond.
A shrill voice shouted from the dark group of witches. “Do not put those in there. We will destroy you all!!! They belong to us.” Michelle gave the signal, and the clash began. Some witches drew out silver daggers, others drew out short spears coated in silver. While the rest of them got ready to do battle with spells. As the 2 groups clashed, Michelle could hear the clear plop of all 10 necklaces falling into the water. She got struck by a silver dagger across her right rear flank, and Silver growled and grabbed the witch around her waist and tore her in half.
Stella moved towards her and used a quick and easy spell to heal Silver before moving on to help block spells from other witches and heal some of the other shifters. All the others joined the battle, except the humans. Neil kept them by the pond and, one by one, helped the siren men who crawled out of the pond until they had all 10 of them safe and formed a circle around them. Drake gave a loud howl, and soon they were flanked by guards from the academy and trainers. They drove the dark witches back, and the trainers helped siren men on the backs of some of the wolves. The injured were carried back on wolf and dragon backs as well.
In the hall of the training center, Stella and some of the other white witches were busy healing the injured. Merymere went and stopped by each siren male, and spoke to them, explaining where they are. When she was done talking to the 9th man, she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around to find her father standing there. “Mery, is it really you?” Tears sprang free from her eyes as she wrapped her arms around her father and hugged him tight. “Yes, Daddy, it is really me. I missed you so much. Momma misses you, too. When Queen Celine and King Dominique said that we would be able to save 10 of the men from our clan who were taken that day, I prayed that you would be one of them.” He hugged her tight, but she could feel that he was weak. “Come on, you need to get some rest.”
