Chapter 77 Finding Ashley
Liam’s POV
“I can’t see anything,” Scott said as he walked over to me.
I sighed. This was taking forever and Ashley was still out there.
Scott couldn’t get even a whiff of her scent and it was looking like we were back to square one.
I looked around, we couldn’t find the car.
We kept searching, the place was almost empty like the people there had ran away.
The same thing that happened with Reginald’s town. I thought.
I was still looking around when my ears picked up a sound.
“Hmm,” I smiled.
I heard a quiet fuck and then the man started running.
I laughed at the fact that he thought he could out run me.
I phased into my wolf and ran after him.
The man turned back and when he saw my wolf, he stumbled and fell.
“Please don’t kill me, please,” he begged as he covered his face.
Scott ran towards us.
“Who is he?” he asked as I changed back into my human form.
Scott gave me some clothes he was carrying in his bag.
“That’s what I’m about to find out,” I leaned down and the man moved away. “Who are you and what are you doing here?”
“I—I,’ he mumbled.
“I don’t have time for this, who are you and what are you doing here!” I yelled. I used my power on him. His color was a pale green, which meant he was had done something bad.
“What did you do?” I sneered.
“I didn’t know man, they just told me to pick her and drive her here. I didn’t know that they were going to do anything to her.” He went on.
“Wait slow down, who told you to bring a girl here?” I asked.
“A man, he was very tall and he said the girl was a friend of his and he was trying to reach her for years but couldn’t find her, so he asked for my help. He gave me some good cash when I brought her over, but then…”
I ran my hand through my hair. “Then what?”
“The man, he took and put a cloth on her face and then she fainted, I’m really sorry, I didn’t know, I was just doing what I was told.” He said.
“You are human, aren’t you? Scott said and the man nodded. “But you don’t seem surprised to see a wolf.”
“Well, it’s just that I have been, um, helping him for a while now,” he muttered.
“So you have been bringing people to him,” I said angrily.
“I didn’t know that this was what he was doing, I swear he always said he knew them, the last two were his cousins or so I thought.”
I couldn’t keep listening to this nonsense. I knew the man was an asshole but now he was just the dumbest one I had ever met. “The girl do you know where he took her?”
“No,” he shook his head.I grabbed his shirt. “Do you think I’m stupid? You better remember something, anything for your sake unless you want your head rolling on the floor the next time I pounce on you.”
He gulped as he was shaking. “He mentioned something about the woods over there but I have been walking around it all day and I still can’t find a thing. That’s all I know really.”
“How far are Josh and the others?” I turned to Scoot.
“They will be here in five minutes, Alpha,” he said.
“We check out the woods first,” I said as I turned to the man still shaking on the floor. “And our friend here will show us the way.”
He looked shocked but didn’t say anything.
I walked away from him and I could hear Scott from behind.
“Get up you piece of shit,” he said as they caught up to me.
“Scott can you pick up a scent?” I asked as we got deeper into the woods.
“Nothing yet, just dirt and flowers, smells kind of sweet.”
I stopped. “Did you say sweet?”
“Yes Alpha, it smells sweet like sugar but also like flowers,” he sniffed the air again as he confirmed what he had said.
“Alpha,” I heard from behind. It was Josh and he came with my men.
“You really took your precious time.”
“Sorry Alpha,” he said.
“Spread out, look for anything that seems strange, the place that we are looking for is here, it’s just disguised.”
“You mean like an illusion?” Josh asked.
“Yes.”
“That’s witchcraft,” Scott said.
I nodded. Only witches had flowery scent and when their powers were at work, the area always smelt of sugary and too sweet.
“Move now,” I said. “Scott, watch him.”
“Of course Alpha,” he said.
I walked deeper into the woods. It was hard to look for anything out of place in a forest.
Alpha. Josh said through the link. We have found an opening.
I will be right there.
The illusion was breaking apart here, just as I thought. When a witch had cast a spell for too long, it will eventually fall apart.
I clenched my fist because this meant that the asshole had been hiding here for years now.
“We move in now,” I said as my men gathered around.
I walked first through the illusion.
I was looking at an old white building.
I looked around but there was no one in sight.
My men moved around me.
“Be silent,” I said as we walked into the building.
“Intruders!” a man shouted as he saw from the door.
Scott took a blade from his leg and threw it as his head. He dropped dead immediately.
But it was already too late. More men had already come out.
I was expecting more men.
“Is that all?” Josh asked. “Then this will be fun.”
We rushed them and the fight ended before they could even phase.
“That felt good,” Scott beamed as he was almost drenched with blood.
I smiled, knowing I probably looked the same.
The thing about my pack was that we all loved fights and blood. That was why we were feared.
“Alpha we found her,” one of my men who had gone ahead said.
“Well where is she?” I asked.
“Hi, Liam,” Ashley said as she walked out from behind the guard.
No one said anything because they were just as shocked as I was.
Ashley was standing here, looking okay and well.
What the fuck is going on?
