Chapter 64 The wedding announcement
Liam’s POV
I hated having random people in my house but I had to bear it.
“Is everything in place,” I asked Josh.
“Yes Alpha,”
“And the guest list,” I asked. “Anything suspicious?”
“No, they are all from their various packs, all are names that I have heard of before,” he said as he went through the list again.
I had gone to the library trying to find more about the first witches but that was the only book on them and their powers.
“Be alert and don’t let anyone out of your sight,” I said.
He nodded and walked away.
Many guests had come yesterday and the hotel in town was almost filled up which meant the pack house was next and since this morning we had been welcoming more people.
“Hello Alpha Liam,” My father’s old friend said as he arrived with some other guests in the pack house.
“Alpha Snow, I’m pleased you were able to make it,” I smiled.
It felt nice to see his face. I had known him since I was a child. He would always go to every party and would bring Sarah and I lots of stories and weird sweets from the far south.
“I have told you to visit but you are yet to take up my offer,” he smiled at me.
His blue ice eyes matched how cold his home was.
“The south is too cold for me,” I said.“It’s all, boy,” he clapped my back. “Now if you will excuse me, I’m an old man now and I need some rest,” he said.
“Of course, if you follow your right you will find Sarah waiting there, she will be very happy to see you.”
“I know she will,” he teased and walked away. He never came with his family because it was always so risky after he lost his wife to a rogue attack while travelling.
I turned my attention back to the other guests and welcomed them too.
It was time for the party and I looked around at the work that Elena and Clara had done.
I walked into the hall where the guests were waiting.
I greeted everyone and walked up to the elders. The council never missed any of the parties.
“Good day, Elders,” I said. “I hope you are enjoying yourselves.”
“Ah, Liam, it’s been a while, ever since you found that little mate of yours you have been so distant,” Elder Harvard said.
My face twitched.
He was too straightforward for his own good.
“Yes I have, love needs time and privacy,” I said and turned to elder Rowan.
“How have you been, boy,” he asked.
“I have been well, Rowan,” I smiled.
“Alpha Liam this might not be the place but the council has heard a lot of things and it has a lot to do with you and your pack, especially your mate.” Elder Harvard said and the other elders nodded in agreement.
“I believe there have been some rumors, but can’t it wait?” I glared at him.
“Unlike how you behaved during the last council meeting in Silver Lake Pack, yes it can wait. But I must warn you, Blackthorn. Your time is ticking and so is your time to figure out what is happening with your wife. If you don’t the council would have to interfere.” He said.
Was he threatening our mate? Connor surfaced and I could feel my control slipping.
“Liam, calm down,” Elder Rowan looked me in the eyes and I knew that my eyes were golden now.
“I’m calm,” I said as I took a few deep breaths.
“Harvard is right, we can’t keep ignoring the things we have been hearing going on with your pack and the people that want her, you have you figure out what to do unless we have to step in,” he said and I nodded.
“Please excuse me,” I said.
I wanted to punch Harvard in the face for what he said but it was true, Elena was in danger on both sides, from Lady Grey and the council, even though Elder Rowan was there. He couldn’t stop them if they wanted to treat Elena like a project until they found out what she was.
They had to be a way to protect her.I kept thinking until I saw her walk up to me, she was looking more beautiful than ever.
That’s our mate. Connor puffed his chest.
I agreed. She was my Luna and I would burn the world to keep her.
I saw my grandparents also looking at Elena, indifference and disgust in their eyes.
Then it hit me.
Marriage. That was what sealed the deal for mom and dad even when my grandparents were against it.
Yes, let’s do it, then she would never be able to leave us. Connor beamed.
I sighed as I ran my hand through my hair. We are trying to protect her, not cage her.
We can do both. He shrugged and laid down.
After meeting Celine and her Alpha Jason. I decided that was the only way.
She was nervous but she followed me up to the stage.
“Welcome everyone and I would like you to meet my mate and bride, Elena Stone.” I said and everyone went silent. Elena turned and looked at me with wide eyes.
I had wanted to tell her but this was the only time everyone including the elders.
The hall was still silent until Clara and Scott began clapping and then everyone joined in.
I looked over at the elders and Harvard looked like he was about to explode with anger.
“This boy must think he’s really something, how dare him test the council like that!” he said to the other elders over the applause.
I smiled and took Elena who was still shocked in my arms.
“Sorry,” I said and pulled her into a
kiss and she melted into my arms.
I smiled, because I knew that the council won’t be able to touch her now.
