Chapter 29 The Man in Black 2
Liam’s POV
I packed my bags and headed out to meet Josh and the others to head north.
I looked back at Elena who was looking at my room with a smile.
She had never come in here before and I was going to change that when I got back.
“Are you sure I can’t come with you,” she muttered looking at me with those big beautiful eyes.
I dropped my bags and pulled her into my arms. “I will be back very soon. I just need to deal with this.”
“How are you sure it’s him? The man in black causing all this trouble?” she bit her lip.
“I’m not, that is why I need you here, where it’s safe.” I cupped her face.
“Clara and Sarah are here with you so you guys can do whatever it is that girls do.”
“Okay,” she said, still biting her lips.“Elena,” I groaned.
“Stop doing that or we won’t leave this room.”
“Oh,” she blushed. “Sorry.”
She looked at me for some time and then kissed me, I returned her kiss smiling.
I grabbed my bags and left the room with Elena behind me.
“Are we set?” I asked Josh as I stood outside the pack house.
“Yes, Alpha,” he said and I looked around and saw Scott and the other warriors getting ready.
“Okay then, let’s go.”
We get into three black buses, and I take the seat at the front.
We head out and I look back to see Elena still standing outside.
I will be back soon, little mate.We have been on the road for two hours now, I keep running through everything trying to see if I’m missing anything.
It’s too easy. Connor said.
Yes, it is, he has been careful not to show his face since with the rogue attack and the guard. It just feels too easy, like it was all planned.
You think someone has been watching us?
Maybe but I’m not believing anything until we get there.
“How far until we get there?” I turn and look at Josh.
“In an hour,” he said.
I lean back into my seat and think about Elena.
She is wolfless but her eyes glowed on the night of the attack. What does that mean?
Maybe she is a hybrid? Connor popped his head up.
And how would you know that?
I can feel a wolf presence in her now that there is a mate bond but I’m sure if it’s her wolf or something else.
I sighed.
There were too many unknowns about what Elena really was.
I’m lost in thoughts when Josh says something.
“We are here Alpha.”I look up and see a place with few old buildings and lots of abandoned ones.
“You can stop here,’ I said.
The car stopped and we got down.I looked around the place.
It looked so messed up like everyone had run away from the place.
The only ones left were those who couldn’t move, probably because of no money.
Josh leads us to an old building.
Some kids who were playing stop and stare at us, their bodies covered with bad clothes and torn shoes.
I felt angry because I knew that this bastard’s business was killing this town and the remaining people along with it.
We keep walking and enter the building and then I see a woman waiting for us.
She has dark skin and black wavy hair and a smile on her face.
“Hi, Alpha Liam,” she smiled. “I have heard so much about you.”
I look at Josh, who raised up his hands. “Not from me.”
“Oh, I meant everyone knows about you, you are famous,” she laughed nervously.
“My name is Julia,” she said as she reached out her hand for me to shake.I shake it.
“So, tell me about this man in black.”
“Oh um, okay, so I got this information from my sources that this man in black is the reason this town is like this because of his trafficking business, most people ran away from here because their children especially their girls were getting kidnapped and used.”
“I knew that was the case,” I said.
“No one has seen his face, but they have seen him going and coming and news is that he’s in town.” She said.
“Okay then we need to hurry and—”
A bullet passes my face and before I can blink more bullets come my way and I dodge and take cover.
They are shooting at us.
I look back at Julia and see her lying on the floor with a bullet through her head.
Fuck.
The guns keep firing, I pick up a bullet and notice it’s silver.
This just keeps getting worse, I look at my arm and notice I’m bleeding but it doesn’t look too deep.
Finally, the bullets stop and then I hear cars moving.
I get up from the ground, looking around for the damage done.
Three of my men are down and not moving and some have been injured.
“Are you okay, Liam?” Josh walked over to me.“I’m fine,” I said then remembered Scott.
“Where’s Scott?”
“I’m here,” he walked up to us, limping. “A bullet got to my leg but I’m fine.”
I feel relieved that he’s safe because I didn’t know how I would have explained to Clara what happened to her brother.
I rushed outside to check on the warriors outside, two fell but the rest are okay.
“Liam!” I turn around and see Josh running to me.
“I was following up Julia’s work and look,” I take the tablet from him, and I see the man in black.
“He left town like an hour, but I don’t know where he’s going.”
I know this feeling, and I felt it on the night Elena was attacked by rogues.
Fear.
He’s going after Elena.
