Chapter 194 — The Taste of Revenge

Chapter 194 — The Taste of Revenge
My phone rang just when I was staring at the ceiling, lost in my thoughts. I didn’t even need to check the caller ID.

“Calista…” I whispered before picking up.

“Vivian!” her voice came through, fast and slightly breathless. “Something just happened in the mansion.”

I sat up immediately. “What is it?”

There was a pause, like she was trying to build suspense, but I didn’t have the patience for it.

“Calista, just say it.”

“Jasper has been apprehended.”

For a second, I didn’t breathe. Then I laughed.

“Yes…” I whispered, my fingers tightening around my phone. “Yes. Finally.”

“He’s been locked up,” Calista continued. “Sir Edward ordered it himself. They’ve put him in the mansion cell.”

I stood up from the bed, pacing slowly.

“Good,” I said. “That’s very good.”

“Vivian…” Calista’s voice softened. “Did you tell Sir Edward everything?”

I stopped walking. “Yes,” I said quietly. “Everything.”

“And?”

“And now Jasper is paying for it.”

I could almost see it in my head–him dragged, humiliated, stripped of control.

But something inside me still burned. Still wasn’t satisfied.

“This is not enough,” I added. There was silence on the other end.

Then Calista asked carefully, “What else do you want?”

I smiled.

“I’m going to give you something,” I said. “And I need you to put it in Jasper’s food.”

Her breath hitched. “What…?”

“His lunch tomorrow,” I continued calmly. “Before the full moon.”

“Vivian…” she whispered, hesitation creeping into her voice. “What is it?”

I didn’t hesitate. “I want to kill him.”

Silence. “Isn’t that too much?” Calista asked.

Too much? I closed my eyes. I saw my father being dragged away again.

I heard Jasper’s voice mocking me on the phone.

I felt the humiliation. The betrayal.

“No,” I said coldly. “That is what he deserves.”

Another pause. Then Calista exhaled.

“Okay,” she said quietly. “I will do it.”

I nodded, even though she couldn’t see me.

“I’ll call you later,” I said. “Come pick it up at the gate.”

“Okay.”

The call ended.

Later that evening, I stood by the gate, my arms folded tightly across my chest.

The small vial sat hidden in my palm.

Calista stepped out. She looked… nervous.

“Vivian…” she called softly.

I walked toward her and handed her the vial.

“This is it.” She stared at it. “Are you sure about this?”

I leaned closer. “Do you remember what he did?” I asked quietly.

She swallowed. “Yes.”

“Then don’t ask me that again.” She nodded.

Slowly. “I’ll do it,” she said.

“Good.” She turned and walked back into the mansion.

The engine of my car roared as I drove into Nightfall territory.

Everything was falling into place. Everything.

I stepped out of the car and walked straight into Alpha Tristan’s house.

But the moment I entered, I froze. “...You?”

Standing there, leaning casually against the wall, was Ronan. The wolf hunter.

My eyes narrowed. “What are you doing here?”

He smirked. “None of your business.”

My jaw tightened. “I work for Alpha Tristan now,” he added lazily.

I turned to Alpha Tristan. “What is this?”

Alpha Tristan waved a hand dismissively. “Relax. We’re all on the same side.”

I didn’t like it. Not one bit. But I didn’t come here to argue.

“I came to discuss something important,” I said.

Alpha Tristan leaned forward slightly. “Go on.”

“We attack tomorrow night.” Ronan let out a sharp laugh.

“Are you mad?” he said. “Full moon? That’s when they’re strongest.”

I didn’t even look at him. “They won’t expect it,” I said calmly.

Alpha Tristan’s eyes narrowed. “That’s not enough reason.”

I stepped closer. “It is when I’m involved.”

That got his attention. “I know everything,” I continued. “Their routes. Their guards. Their weak points. Their formation.”

I pointed to my chest. “I built it.”

Silence filled the room.

“With me,” I added, “and your wolves… we can take them down before they even realize what’s happening.”

Ronan scoffed. “Or we walk into a trap.”

I turned to him slowly. “Then don’t come.”

Alpha Tristan raised a hand, silencing us both. He leaned back, thinking.

Then a slow smile spread across his face.

“I can’t wait to get my hands on that white wolf…”

My heart pounded. “So,” he continued, “I’ll take the chance.”

Ronan shook his head. “This is a mistake.”

“Maybe,” Alpha Tristan said. “But it’s a risk I’m willing to take.”

I smiled. Finally.

Tomorrow night… everything changes.

In the mansion, while preparing Jasper's food, my hands were shaking.

I hated it. I walked through the mansion halls, trying to act normal.

Trying to breathe. “You can do this,” I whispered to myself.

When I was done preparing the meal, I slipped the vial out. Jasper’s meal was separate.

I looked around. No one was watching.

My heart pounded so loudly I was sure someone could hear it.

“Just do it…” I uncorked the vial and poured it into his food.

It disappeared instantly like it was never there.

I stirred it slightly. Then stepped back.

It was done. Minutes later, I carried the tray myself.

“I’ll take it,” I told one of the staff.

She nodded. And just like that, I was walking toward the cell.

Each step felt heavier than the last.

When I got there, the guards opened the door.

Jasper sat inside. His eyes lifted and met mine.

“Your lunch.”

I stepped forward and placed the tray in front of him.

He studied me carefully. Like he was trying to read my soul.

“Interesting,” he murmured.

My stomach tightened. He picked up the spoon and took a bite.

I watched, my heart racing. Another bite, then another.

He didn’t stop. He ate everything, every single bite.

I didn’t move. I just watched. When he finished, he leaned back slightly.

“Well,” he said, wiping his mouth. “That was… satisfying.”

Our eyes met and for a second, I felt something cold run down my spine. I turned and walked out.

The door shut behind me and I kept walking.

Not stopping, not looking back because behind that door, Jasper had just eaten his last meal.
