Chapter 193 — Blood, Lies, and the Cage

Chapter 193 — Blood, Lies, and the Cage
I watched him open the book. He flipped it open carefully… like he understood the weight of what he was holding.

I didn’t speak, I just watched.

His eyes scanned the pages… moving line after line…

Then suddenly they stopped. He had found it. Then slowly… he lifted his head and looked at me.

There was no doubt in his eyes anymore. Just certainty.

“Ma’am Albright,” he said quietly, “is listed beside your father.”

I nodded slowly.

“The chosen mate,” he added.

That one truth alone ended everything Jasper had been trying to build.

“It means…” Dominic continued, “…you are a true blood.”

I leaned back slightly in my chair. Not relieved, not happy. Just… tired.

“So Jasper lied,” he said.

I let out a bitter breath. “I can’t believe this,” I said quietly.

My fingers tightened against the armrest.

“He’s been living under my roof… eating at my table… and I’ve never had any issue with him.”

I shook my head slowly. “Why would he do this?”

Alpha Dominic closed the book gently. Then he looked at me.

“He came to me,” he began. “He claimed you were not fit to rule.”

My jaw tightened.

“He said he is the rightful Alpha.”

Alpha Dominic leaned forward slightly.

“He also said something else.”

I looked up.

“He claimed the white wolf should stand beside him… not you.”

My chest tightened.

“Elara is not something to be claimed,” I said firmly.

Alpha Dominic nodded.

“I asked him what he would do if she refused,” he continued.

Something about his tone made my stomach twist.

“And?”

He held my gaze.

“He said he has her brother.”

My heart almost stopped. My entire body went cold.

“He said he is holding him hostage,” Alpha Dominic continued.

My breath caught.

“And because of that… she will do whatever he asks.”

Felix. My mind screamed his name.

“We’ve been looking for him,” I said quickly.

My voice was tighter now. Urgent. “His name is Felix. He’s Elara’s brother.”

Alpha Dominic nodded. I leaned forward. “I need your help.”

He didn’t hesitate.

“What do you want me to do?”

I held his gaze. “Does Jasper trust you?”

He thought for a moment. “I believe he does.”

I nodded once. “Good.” I leaned in slightly.

“You’re going to call him.” Alpha Dominic raised a brow. “And say what exactly?”

I took a breath. “Tell him you’re curious.”

“Curious?”

“Yes,” I said. “Tell him you heard the white wolf has seeing and healing powers.”

Alpha Dominic nodded slowly.

“And you’re wondering… what about her brother?”

A pause.

“What power does he have?”

Alpha Dominic’s eyes sharpened slightly.

“And he’ll answer?”

“Yes,” I said. “He will.” I leaned back slightly.

“He’ll tell you Felix is a dream maker.”

Alpha Dominic’s expression changed slightly. “Then what?”

“Then you tell him you need a dream maker. You tell him you want Felix,” I continued. “Just for a few days.”

Alpha Dominic frowned slightly. “And if he refuses?”

I shook my head. “He won’t.”

I held his gaze firmly. “He needs your support. He’s desperate. He won’t risk losing you.”

A pause.

“And he won’t suspect anything.”

Alpha Dominic sat back. Thinking, then slowly he nodded. “Alright.”

My chest eased slightly. “I’ll call him now.” He reached for his phone and dialed.

I watched him closely. Every second felt longer than it should.

“Jasper.” Alpha Dominic’s voice was calm.

I couldn’t hear Jasper’s response, but I could imagine it.

“Yes,” Alpha Dominic continued casually. “I’ve been thinking about something.”

A pause.

“I heard the white wolf has seeing and healing abilities.”

Another pause.

“I was wondering… what about her brother?”

Silence. Then Alpha Dominic nodded slightly.

“A dream maker?” he repeated. I exhaled slowly.

Good. Exactly as expected.

“That’s interesting,” Alpha Dominic said.

Another pause. Then, “I might need his services.”

My fingers tightened. “Can you lend him to me?”

Silence. A longer one this time.

I could feel the hesitation from the other side, even without hearing it.

Then Alpha Dominic leaned back slightly.

“Well… if it’s not possible, that’s fine.”

A pause. Then suddenly his expression shifted.

“Alright.”

I straightened slightly.

“Send him to my house. I’ll be waiting.”

Then the call ended.

I released a breath I didn’t even know I was holding.

“He agreed?” I asked.

Alpha Dominic nodded. “He’ll send him.”

Relief flooded through me. “Thank you.”

He gave a small nod. “No problem.”

I stood up.

“I’ll be waiting for your call. As soon as you have Felix, I will apprehend Jasper.”

The drive back to the mansion felt endless.

Every second dragged. Every thought was louder than the last.

Felix. Finally we had a way to get him back.

When I got back, I didn’t go anywhere. I stayed in my room. Waiting, watching my phone.

Minutes turned into hours. Then finally my phone rang.

Alpha Dominic. I picked up immediately. “Yes?”

“He’s here.” My heart pounded.

“Felix has been brought to my house.”

Relief crashed into me. “Thank you,” I said quickly.

“Thank you so much.”

Then immediately I pressed another number. “Bring Jasper to me.”

My voice was cold. It didn’t take long.

A few minutes later the door opened.

And they dragged him in. Jasper, bound, struggling and angry.

“What is this?” he snapped. “Edward, what is the meaning of this?”

I stared at him. Then slowly, I reached for the book on my table and placed it in front of him.

His eyes flickered. Just for a second. Then he masked it.

“I don’t understand…”

“Just stop.” My voice cut through his words.

I opened the book. Flipped it and turned it toward him.

“There.” His eyes dropped and I watched it happen.

That moment. When the truth hit him.

“My father,” I said slowly. “And Ma’am Albright.”

My voice hardened. “The chosen bond.” I leaned forward. “I am a true blood.”

Silence filled the room. “I trusted you,” I continued.

My chest tightened. “I thought we were family.”

My voice dropped. “I thought we were brothers.”

He said nothing. Just stared. “I’m disappointed in you, Jasper.”

Then I leaned back. “From today…”

My voice turned cold. “You’re done.”

I gestured toward the guards. “Take him.”

His head snapped up. “Edward…”

“Put him in the mansion cell.” My tone didn’t change.

“Chain him.” The guards moved immediately.

“You can’t do this!” he shouted, struggling.

I didn’t even look at him anymore.

“The full moon is tomorrow night,” I said calmly.

“And you turn twenty-one.”

Silence.

“We don’t know what you’ll become.”

My gaze met his one last time.

“But until then…” I nodded to the guards.

“Keep him locked.” They dragged him out.

His voice echoed down the hallway but I didn’t listen.

The door closed and just like that he was gone.

I sat there quietly. But inside, everything had changed.
