Chapter 93 CHAPTER 93
Evelyn's POV
I felt his weight when he collapsed on me.
“Micheal,” I called out.
Jasper supported him with his arms. “I'll take him to the car. I think it's his injury. How long has it been?”
I wasn't sure but I guessed Xavier must have been the one to stab him. “About thirty minutes.”
“He's losing a lot of blood.”
I followed him to the car and he was placed on his back. I held his hand. It was cold.
“We have to hurry, “ I said as he ran back to the house to get Gwen.
“Please, don't leave me Michael,” I begged.
I tried to connect to him but I couldn't feel anything. Luckily the blade had not contacted any of his core sites. Injuries that could damage his wolf completely were not reversible.
“Stay with me,” I whispered.
I looked behind and saw Jasper rushing towards the car with Gwen keeping up just behind him.
She joined him at the front while Micheal and I stayed at the back.
“Are you okay?” She asked me, looking at the back of the car.
I nodded. “How are you? I hope your injury isn't too deep?”
She glanced at Alpha Michael. Is that a silver knife?”
I nodded.
“It'll kill him,” she said. “The silver will poison his blood.”
“What do we do?” I panicked.
“We are getting him to a hospital now,” Jasper said.
She shook her head. “He might not make it if we don't do something right now.”
She skipped through the front seat to the back. She placed two fingers on his neck. “His purse is weak. We'll lose him.”
My stomach twisted into knots. “Please do something.”
She stared at the metal. “There's the risk of bleeding to death if I pull it out, but he'll have a better chance compared to this.”
Jasper stopped the car. I moved away so she could have some space. She held the metal.
“I need a clean cloth, folded over.”
Jasper tore out his shirt and folded it.
She held the metal firmly and yanked it out. Blood splurged out. She grabbed the cloth and placed it over the site, pressing it firmly.
“Drive now!”
I squeezed his hand. He responded, his fingers lacing around mine.
“He's awake,” I whispered.
She wiped away the blood that had splashed on her face, mixed with her own sweat. “He'll make it,” she whispered.
They were the most important words I needed at that time.
—
The doctors booked him for an emergency surgery. They said his spleen was pierced but removing the silver dagger on time was what saved him.
I hugged Gwen and cried on her shoulder. She had helped me in more ways than one.
“Thank you so much, Gwen. I owe you so much.”
She rubbed my back gently. “I wouldn't have listened to him if i knew the truth. I'm sorry I couldn't figure it out on time.”
I watched it on the news a few hours later that Xavier was arrested. The police arrived and wanted some statements. I was too weak and disturbed to give them my time. Michael was still in the theatre.
Eventually, I obliged. I told them how I was brought into the country against my will, sedated. I was labelled insane and confined in a room. I was given medications to help suppress my memory until I instinctively stopped taking them.
I didn't mention Gwen’s name nor my dreams. They were things that they wouldn't understand, and they could complicate the case.
They asked for my relationship with Alpha Michael. I mentioned he was my fiance. They looked unconvinced. One of them mentioned that Alpha Michael was already engaged to someone else who wasn't me.
I told them he would clarify things once he was out of surgery.
“Would that be all, gentlemen?” I asked. “I need to join the others.”
“There's nothing more to ask for now, you may leave. “
My memories were still not yet fully restored and I was picking up bits and pieces of everything. Gwen returned home and we exchanged contacts. I figured Jasper was Alpha Michael's beta.
Shortly after giving my statement, he met me by the waiting area. He stretched a wrap of burger and a pack of chips towards me.
“He'll be out soon,” he said, sitting beside me.
I bit into the burger and felt a wave of nausea hit me. I thought it was just fatigue, so I chewed slowly. I was pretty hungry and I needed to eat. But the second wave of nausea that hit me was so strong that I had to abandon my food and rush into the toilet.
I reached and finally threw up what I'd just eaten. I bent over the sink, feeling exhausted. I opened the cabinet, looking for wipes to clean my mouth. I saw a pregnancy test kit. My heart raced.
I tried to remember if I was pregnant before I was kidnapped or when I saw my blood glow last. I couldn't remember. I looked at the pack of strips and decided there was no harm in checking.
—
When I came out of the bathroom, I realised I'd spent so much time in there. I couldn't see Jasper around. Perhaps Michael was already out. I hurried up towards the recovery room, and I was given directions to his private room.
The room had two compartments. The first compartment was where guests were received and other supplies were kept. While the second part was the main recovery room. I stepped into the first compartment and I was about to turn on the handle of the second door when I heard Jasper's voice.
“This is going to ruin a lot of things, especially once the truth comes out,”he said. “You know their kinds aren't really accepted.”
“I know,” Alpha Michael said. “We'll keep this hushed until the elections are over.”
“This isn't about the elections, Alpha Michael. She is a nine tailed fox. You remember, don't you?”
There was silence.
