Chapter 84 CHAPTER 84

Chapter 84 CHAPTER 84
Michael’s POV

“It’s a lie,” he said, more of hope than disbelief. “Rosaleen cannot do that.”

I released the knot of my tie. “She did, in fact. You could have heard this if you had listened to the full story.”

“Alpha Michael,” he said, rising to his feet. “Are you messing with me?”

I sighed. “I wish I was. I don’t recognise Rosaleen anymore. She has always been ambitious but not this callous.”

He stood in silence. “Did Tamara really give her that amount of money to keep her silent so she could be with me?”

I loved the new look he was giving the situation. It was obvious Tamara had left everything that was hers just to be with him.

“You can say it that way, Jasper. I think you should both talk it out and do a paternity test too.”

He paced slowly. “She won’t forgive me, Michael. What I did and said to her was despicable. But how could Rosaleen do such a thing to me?”

His muscles on his face were tightened and I could see his clenched fist.

“Don’t do anything rash, Jasper,” I said. “We still need to be careful with Rosaleen for now. When the time comes for her to suffer for everything she has done, she will receive it. I just don’t want you to lose your family based on an incomplete story.”

His lips trembled. I had never seen him so angry and broken like that. I understood that he and Tamara loved each other so dearly.

“Have I not lost her already?” he asked.

I shrugged. “You can only try. And for starters, get rid of those girls around you. You were doing all those stunts to get over your loss but it’s becoming irritating now. You are less efficient than you used to be.”

“I’m such a fool, Alpha Michael,” he confessed. “I was too scared to face the truth. She wanted to tell me the whole story but I pushed her away. But what would she want to do with someone like me? She should be married to an Alpha, not me.”

I remained silent. I had given him all the information he needed. If he decided to walk down the path of regret and self rejection without reaching out to her and making amends, there was nothing I was going to do to stop him.

“How is the new project going? I’ll need a situation report to present at the next board meeting.” I stopped and watched him. “Can I trust that you’ll have it ready?”

He nodded. “Yes. Yes. I will, unfailingly.”

I glanced at the time. It was almost time for Rosaleen’s arrival at the airport. I wanted to go pick her personally. I knew she was already getting suspicious about me. I needed her to be a bit relaxed with me so she could make mistakes. Those mistakes were all I needed to lay hands on Xavier and find Evelyn.

“Are you up for driving me to the airport? I have to go and pick Rosaleen. Or would you rather avoid her for now?”

“I’ll drive you. I can deal with my emotions.”

I stood up. “Good.”

The jet had a private hangar at the airport where we met Rosaleen and her friends. They had so many bags and boxes that we had to recruit some of the airport staff to move the luggages.”

“Ibiza was an experience,” Rosaleen said, wrapping her arm over my waist too tightly. It was performative bullshit. She wanted her friends to think we were madly in love.

“I get to meet Alpha Michael,” one of the ladies said, ogling over me. She touched my arm and screamed. “Rosaleen! Is this what you get to enjoy every day?”

Rosaleen giggled.

“That’s Megan,” she said. “She is a big fan.”

“Hello, Megan," I said, hugging her. I said hello to the other two ladies who were also watching me as though they had just seen a rare species.

“That’s Phoebe and Lara,” Rosaleen said, pointing to the two ladies.

“Alpha Michael Greywood,” I said.

Megan made a mock swoon movement. “Can I be your second mate?” she asked. “I promise you I won't ask for too much. Just to see your face everyday.”

One of the other ladies scoffed. “She is married with two kids, Alpha Michael. Perhaps a third one is on the way too.”

The second lady laughed. “What happens in Ibiza stays in Ibiza, Lara.”

It seemed they had a lot of fun. “Oh, what happened?” I asked.

Rosaleen tightened her grip on my waist. “Girls stuff. We can’t tell you.”

“Oh, and we saw your ex,” Megan giggled. “With that strapping …” she stopped suddenly and clasped her palm over her mouth. “Oops.”

“Megan,” Phoebe whispered, making faces. “You talk a lot.”

I looked at Rosaleen. Her face was tight and uncomfortable. I tried to take the news as though it was just any other news. “You saw Evelyn Moon?”

She gave a plastic smile. “Megan doesn’t know what she’s talking about.”

Jasper joined us, holding some refreshment for the trip back to the house. Rosaleen threw a shirt at him and smiled. “I got your souvenir!”

He picked it and tossed it aside. “Thanks.”

She rolled her eyes. “Why is he grumpy?”

But all I could think of was how perfect it was that they had run into Evelyn in Ibiza and Megan had mentioned it. I knew where to concentrate the search parties now. I was almost close to finding her.

—
I was just dozing off when my phone began ringing. I stretched my hand towards it and flipped the screen up. When I saw the caller, sleep vanished from my eyes. I sat up.

“Hello?” I said.

“Alpha Michael,” the caller spoke. “Anna Moon is awake. It is such a miracle.”

My heart raced. That was great news
. “Thank you. I’ll be there soon.”

I pushed myself out of the bed and hurriedly dressed up.
