Chapter 163 CHAPTER 163
Rosaleen’s POV
The entire house was in chaos by the time I decided I had spent enough time in the garden. The house keeper was shouting at everyone and everyone else was agitated.
“What is the problem?” I asked, pretty sure it had to do with Philly. Perhaps she had decided to rip someone else’s face too.
“Madam Philly is missing,” she said, hurrying away and barking orders at someone.
Missing?
I turned to the closest person I could find. “What happened to Philly?”
“She’s been missing, ma’am. No one can find her.”
“She walked out of the house? What do you mean she’s missing?” I asked.
“We don’t know, ma’am. She’s been missing for almost an hour and no one can find her.”
I stood still for a while and relished the thought that they found her dead somewhere. I was tired of living in constant panic that she would break into my room and tear my throat. If she was really missing, I wished she would never be found.
I moved to my room, ignoring the chaos and not wishing to be part of it. I told my maid to update me whenever Alpha Michael returned. Then I laid on my bed and Roman’s voice haunted me. I took deep breaths and reassured myself that Alpha Raymond would do everything in his power to make sure he keeps Roman in check.
I wouldn’t mind if he eliminated him. It would be the permanent solution to his blackmail.
I sent a voice note to him, explaining that Alpha Raymond was willing to review his proposal and sign a contract with him. Then I laid on my bed and imagined what my life would be if Roman decided to release the clip. I had done it to get rid of Evelyn Moon. Yet she still remained stubbornly alive, causing me much pain.
I eventually dozed off, but I woke up about three times within the night. On two occasions, I asked the maid if Alpha Michael was back. She said no twice. On the third time, I just stayed awake, knowing he was not back. And I hoped it was because he was in the hospital, mourning the death of his mother.
Morning brought two surprises. First, Anna returned from her trip. Earlier than planned and alone. From her eyes, I could tell she had been crying. I imagined that she and Roman had gotten into a fight. I stifled a laugh. Perhaps he had decided he didn’t need her anymore since Alpha Raymond was helping her. Then she stormed into my room, her eyes blazing red hot.
“You cheap slut!” she cursed.
I stood up and moved away from her as quickly as I could. I grabbed something and placed it between us. I would not allow mother and daughter to scar me.
She picked something on the desk and tossed it at me. It crashed on the floor. Her eyes search the desk for something more dangerous. I didn’t wait for her. I ran suddenly and knocked her to the floor. My chest burnt with unexpressed anger. I slapped her hard across the face, twice.
She cried and kicked and finally stayed still.
“You’ve been fucking my boyfriend. How dare you?” she cried weakly.
I rose up. “Who told you that? Are you out of your mind?” My heart raced. Did Roman show her our video?
“I saw your messages. You and him. And he told me everything. You shameless slut. You couldn't take your eyes off what is mine.”
I twisted my fingers and I felt a sharp pain from my wrist. “Roman and I used to know each other. I don’t know what he told you, but he is a lying and manipulative son of a bitch. And it’s better if you have nothing to do with him.”
“Where is he?” she asked, rising to her feet.
“How the hell am I supposed to know that?” I retorted. “I left you all at the party yesterday. Instead of you worrying about Alpha Roman, you should be worried about your mother who has been missing since yesterday.”
She stomped and cursed. “I hate her and I don't care about her.” She turned around and left the room.
I didn't care if she hated her mother, either.
I locked the door and picked my phone. I called Phoebe because I suspected Megan had a hand in Roman’s sudden disappearance, and because Lara would never spill the tea the way I wanted.
“I was just about to call you,” she said as soon as she picked my call. Of course, I would forgive her for not checking up on me despite leaving the vacation the previous day. “There’s gist.”
I walked to my bed. “What happened?”
She lowered her voice. “Lara and Roman,” she said.
“Lara?” I asked.
“Yes. Roman spent the night and this morning in Lara’s room. In fact, we haven’t seen much of both of them all day. Megan is so upset.” she giggled.
“Are you for real? Lara? And not Megan?"
“We are both as shocked as you are. We had no idea that Lara had eyes for the hunk.”
Lara was sensible. She was the most sensible amongst the four of us. I wondered what could have made her do what she did.
The second shock arrived midday with the arrival of Alpha Michael and Alpha Raymond. I wasn’t told directly because no one trusted me. But I had my sources. Philly had been found and she was not coming back to the house.
“She’s staying over with a woman, Anna Trent,” the driver typed.
I stared at the message, waiting for him to delete it because it was a mistake. But he didn’t delete it.
Anna Trent, I thought. Why was Philly being kept with Anna Trent? What was going on?
I typed a message to Viktor Calderon immediately. If he wished to get his ounce of blood, he could find Philly and her fellow villain easily.
