Chapter 158 CHAPTER 158
Michael’s POV
When I saw Rosaleen sitting in the garden as I drove in, I knew something had gone wrong. I wasn’t expecting her for three days. I remained in the car and searched my phone for any messages from her. There was a missed call from Evelyn Moon but no messages from her either.
Then I found a voice note from Anna.
She was in hysteria and yelling about something Rosaleen had told her. I could only catch a few words and I knew exactly what she was talking about and I knew why Rosaleen was back.
I walked towards her. She had already seen me and she was watching me approach her with fire in her eyes.
I didn't wait till I got to her before I spoke. “Why did you tell Anna that?” I asked.
She rose up. “I was the one who brought her here. I made Alpha Raymond accept her as his. She has forgotten that I made her who she is today, so I had to put her in her place.”
I watched her. There was no regret or remorse in her face.
“You signed a fucking contract not to disclose or discuss any of this family’s secrets,” I said.
“I didn't tell anyone outside the family,” she said, stepping forward. “It was between us.”
I clenched my teeth. “You are crossing the line, Rosaleen.”
“And what about you, alpha Michael,” she asked, her eyes lacking the rage I was familiar with. “You went to be with her, right? You planned this trip so you could spend time with Evelyn Moon.”
I stepped back. I was amused. “Is that why you came back from the trip?”
“You aren’t even denying it,” she snapped. “You are married to me. You can’t have her and me.”
I scoffed. “I was married to her once. Did it stop you?”
She remained silent.
“You have your answer then.”
I turned to go away.
“Wait,” she called out. “I have a request to ask of you."
“Can this wait? I’ve had a busy day."
“No.” she stepped forward. “It’s urgent.” her eyes darted around the garden, checking if we were alone.
I sagged my shoulders, feeling the weight of the whole day upon me. “What is it?”
“I want Greywood’s tech to make a partnering deal with Alpha Roman -”
“No,” I said, cutting her short. “Is there anything else?"
“You have to. It’s very important that you do.”
I glared at her. Alpha Roman was a conniving thief and the last time she had introduced him to the company, he almost dragged our brand in dirty waters. “Why? We have a deal with Moon’s enterprises already.”
She scoffed. “You don’t want to get involved with them again, Alpha Michael."
“When I need advice on who to make a partnership deal with, Rosaleen, I have a whole board of directors. I don't need you to tell me what’s good for my company or not. Have a lovely evening.”
I turned away and walked as briskly as I could.
“He has something that can destroy us,” she called out and I stopped.
“He has threatened that he would take it to the public if I don't get him the deal he wants. It’s just a deal. Please,” she said.
“What does he have?” I asked between my teeth.
She stammered. “He … he has a sex tape,” she said finally.
I turned around. She broke eye contact, then flashed angry eyes at me. “Don’t judge me, I did it for you!”
“You did it for yourself,” I countered. “What were you thinking? Making videos with Alpha Roman?”
“I had no idea he was recording,” she said. “I’m not that stupid.”
“I disagree.”
She bit her lips. “That tape could destroy your name too if it goes out,” she said.
“No,” I replied. “All I have to do is to distance myself from you, Rosaleen.”
“We have a contract,” she said, laughing. “I keep your secrets, and you protect mine. This was done before we signed the contract. So if you don’t protect my secret, Alpha Michael, I won't protect yours.”
I turned around and walked into the house. There was no way I was going to open the doors of my company to Alpha Roman again. He would have to take another deal.
I called the director and listened to the beeping sound of the line connecting.
“Good evening, alpha Michael,” she said as soon as she picked.
“Have you finalized the partnering deal between us and Moon’s enterprises? I expect the contracts would have been signed by now,” I said.
She hesitated. “No, sir. I received directives that the deal should be reversed.”
“You received directives from who?” i asked.
“Alpha Raymond, sir,” she replied.
“When was this?”
“A few minutes ago,” she answered.
I hung up. Was that why Evelyn had called me? Why would Alpha Raymond cancel a deal I had been working on for weeks?
I called his number. It rang endlessly without being picked.
I cursed loudly, buttoned my shirt and headed out of the house again.
It was almost 9pm when I walked through the sliding glass doors of Greywood Industries. I didn’t know why, but for some strange reason, alpha Raymond had been working late into the night. He was also one of the first people to resume work the following day.
I had seen the light in his office when I parked my car in the parking lot and I was sure he was in.
The elevator stopped on the floor and I paced faster towards his office. The door was open, but he was not at his desk. He was lying on a sofa, sleeping deeply.
I stepped in, my attention caught by the parcels arranged in a corner in his office. I wondered who was giving him gifts and for what occasion.
Then I saw the half finished note
on his desk. I read the first line and I felt a powerful mix of emotions. Alpha Raymond had a love interest.
