Chapter 31 Bleeding Lies

Chapter 31 Bleeding Lies
Isabella’s POV

I clutched my stomach with both hands, curling into myself as another violent pain shot through me.

“P…please anyone help—“

BANG!

The door burst open before I could finish the words.

“Isabella!”

Sarah’s voice thundered through the chaos as she burst into the room,  her eyes wide with shock. The moment her gaze landed on me—bleeding, screaming, curled on the bed in a growing pool of red, she rushed towards me instantly.

“Oh my gods…” She rushed to my side, dropping to her knees beside the bed. “Isabella, what happened? Talk to me!”

“Save my baby!” I cried out bitterly, tears streaming down my face, my voice cracking due to the pain. “Please… it hurts so much… I don’t want to lose my baby…please…”

Sarah’s hands hovered over me, unsure where to touch without causing more pain. “Breathe, Isabella. Just breathe…I’m here and nothing will happen to you. Let me go get help—“

Before she could say anything else, the door burst open again. This time it was Clara, she barbed in, irritation etched across her face at first, but the moment her eyes landed on me, on the blood soaking the bed—she froze.

“What the hell is going on?” Clara demanded, stepping closer, her voice thundering across the room. “Isabella? What did you do? How did it get to this? Did you drink something to get rid of Landon’s child yourself?”

“No!”

The words ripped out of me before I could stop them. I tried to speak more, to defend myself, but another wave of agony tore through me. All I could do was sob and clutch my stomach tighter.

“No… I didn’t… please… the baby…”

“How dare you accuse her of that right now?!” Sarah barked, turning to face Clara, her gentle face hardened with fury. “Look at her! She’s in pain. Why on earth would she harm her own child? You’re the one who’s been vicious to her from the start!”

Clara’s eyes flashed with anger. “Vicious? I was protecting my brother! And now this rogue is bleeding out the heir like it’s nothing….maybe she finally realized she couldn’t trap Landon with a child and decided to end it herself.”

“That’s a lie!” Sarah snapped, meeting Clara’s gaze head-on, “Everyone knows you’ve despised her since the moment she arrived. You have been treating her like nothing but filth and now you walk in here and immediately blame her for this? While she’s screaming in pain? For once in your pathetic life have some shame!”

The two women faced each other, their voices echoing through the room while they completely forgot about me for a moment. Their argument grew heated, words flying back and forth like weapons.

“You’ve always supported poor little Isabella,” Clara hissed. “Playing the gentle savior while the rest of us see the truth. She’s nothing but a rogue filth whose father tried to kill my brother, and now she’s losing the child. Can’t you see she’s getting everything she deserves, huh?”

“Are you fucking kidding me?” Sarah shot back. “You’re the one who deserves all the bad things in the world…and now I’m very sure that if anyone wants this baby gone, it’s you!”

I lay there, gasping through the pain, barely able to follow their words. I wanted to scream at them to stop fighting and help me, but my voice had gone hoarse.

All I could do was whimper and cry, my hands pressed desperately to my belly as if I could somehow hold the baby inside.

And then—

BANG!

The door suddenly slammed open with a loud creak, the sheer force rattling the entire wall.

Landon stood in the doorway, and the moment his eyes landed on me—something dark and dangerous flashed across his face. The look in his eyes was anything but good.

Before I could say anything or react, he crossed the room in fast, powerful strides, ignoring Clara and Sarah completely. Without a word, he leaned down and scooped me up into his arms as if I weighed nothing.

One arm supported my back, the other under my knees as the blood immediately stained his shirt where it touched me, but he didn’t seem to care.

“Landon…” I whimpered weakly, my head falling against his chest. “The baby… please…”

“Shut your mouth,” he growled, his voice leaving no room for argument. Then he turned toward the door, carrying me out of the room. As we moved into the hallway, he barked orders over his shoulder.

“Owen! Get the healer. Now! Tell her to bring every powerful herb she has…if she’s not here in two minutes, I’ll have her head on my fucking table!”

Owen appeared instantly from somewhere down the hall, his eyes widening in shock at the sight of me bleeding in Landon’s arms. Without saying a word, he nodded sharply and ran off to follow Landon’s command.

Meanwhile, Landon carried me straight into his own room, kicking the door open with his boot. He laid me down carefully on his large bed, the sheets were cool against my feverish skin, but it did nothing to ease the pain.

“Fuck!!”

Another cramp hit, and I cried out again, fresh tears spilling down my cheeks. Landon hadn’t said a word since he brought me here, if anything, he just stood there, staring down at the blood soaking my gown and the sheets.

The expression on his face was unreadable — a storm of emotions I couldn’t name. Anger? Pity? Maybe even a flicker of regret.

Sarah and Clara had followed behind us, still exchanging heated words in low voices, but Landon didn’t acknowledge them. His gaze stayed entirely locked on me.

“Please…save my baby…” I reached out to him weakly, my blood-stained hand trembling as I grabbed the front of his shirt. “I don’t want to lose our baby…”

He didn’t utter a word in response, he simply turned his head toward the door and barked again, his voice thundering through the bedroom hallway.

“Bring me the fucking healer!”

The pain surged again, more brutal than before as I squeezed my eyes shut, biting back another scream as more blood flowed. All I could do was hold on and pray that it wasn’t already too late.
