Chapter 230 Part 2 Chapter 56

Chapter 230 Part 2 Chapter 56
Calisto

I cannot step out of my house, nor can I call or reach anyone. The more time I spend trapped here, the more that sly, cunning boy gathers damning evidence against me and every single person involved in my dirty dealings. How in the world did he manage to uncover information about all the people I used to carry out my underhanded work?

And that girl Anna… Before she has the chance to say even a single word that could ruin me, I must have her eliminated. I’m desperately hoping Mario finds a way to assist me, but he is also currently under investigation. That means I have no choice but to wait even longer. But waiting is something I simply cannot afford right now. I do not possess even an ounce of that kind of patience.

Just then, the sound of heavy footsteps echoed from outside. One of the Alpha’s guards approached and knocked firmly on my door.

“Elder Calisto, may I enter?” the guard asked, his tone polite but carrying an underlying authority that suggested he would come in regardless of my answer.

I chose not to reply. Instead, I remained seated, crossing my legs with deliberate calm. As expected, he pushed the door open and stepped inside anyway.

“And to what do I owe this unexpected meeting?” I asked, a smug smile playing on my lips.

The guard bowed his head slightly in acknowledgment. “I am here to inform you that the Alpha is on his way here to see you. You are advised to be in your best behavior.”

Instead of feeling intimidated, I burst out laughing loudly. That arrogant boy thought that because he had found a little dirt on me, he could treat me however he pleased? My laughter quickly turned bitter and transformed into pure anger. I clenched my fists tightly, my knuckles turning white as rage surged through me.

“And you think you have the right to come here and tell me that?” I barked at him, my voice sharp and threatening.

But before the guard could respond, my sharp nose caught the distinct, powerful scent of the Alpha. He was already here.

Soon enough, Helio walked into the room with his men flanking him. The moment my eyes landed on him, my face twisted into an even deeper expression of fury than before.

“And to what do I owe this meeting, Alpha Helio?” I asked, my tone dripping with sarcasm and disdain.

He simply stared at me for a long moment, then tilted his head to one side, a strange, unfamiliar glint shining in his eyes accompanied by a small, dangerous smile.

“Do you really think I would just leave you here, giving you all the time you need to plot against me and my mate?” he said calmly.

“You have already confined me to my home. What more do you possibly want from me?” I demanded, rising to my feet and stepping forward in open challenge.

“I want you dead,” he replied simply, his voice completely flat and devoid of any emotion.

The cold, emotionless way he said those words sent a chill down my spine, and I had to swallow hard to maintain my composure.

“Tell me,” he continued, slowly rounding me like a predator circling its prey, “how do you wish to die, Calisto? Publicly or privately? Or perhaps I should kill you the same way you killed my brother—by poisoning you?”

He suddenly turned to face me directly. I instinctively took a step back, my heart rate quickening.

At that exact moment, another guard entered the room, a suspicious bag in hand. My eyes widened in alarm.

“What do you think you are planning to do?” I growled, already preparing myself to transform into my wolf form.

I knew it was foolish—an old man like me thinking he could physically fight the Alpha—but I was ready to do everything within my power to stop him, even if it meant getting my hands dirty once again.

“I will kill you slowly, just as you did to Julio,” Helio said, his tone still eerily calm.

“You see, I won’t bother forcing you to admit your crimes or declare your innocence, because deep down, between you and me, we both know exactly what happened. But before your end comes, Calisto,” he said, stepping closer to me now "I will make sure you suffer the exact same fate you inflicted on him. Besides, you are old now, and death is much closer to you than you can even imagine.”

Cold sweat broke out across my forehead as fear began to creep in. “And you think the elders will not look into my death?” I warned, trying to sound threatening.

But he only smiled—a cold, calculated smile. “I can do exactly what you did, Calisto. I will bury you long before any autopsy can be conducted. And since you are old and frail, the drug will work much faster and more effectively on you. Don’t you agree?”

He must be delusional if he thinks I will go down so easily without a fight.

“Do you think I am weak, Helio?” I challenged him, my voice rising.

He did not say a word in response.

“You are nothing but a young, inexperienced pup,” I spat, my anger boiling over. “You know nothing about the things I have done or the lengths I went through to get where I am today. If I had truly wanted you dead like your brother, I would have made it happen without hesitation.”

My chest heaved with rage. “I should have killed you when I still had the perfect chance. I only kept you alive because I wanted to use you to my advantage. But ever since you awakened your power, you have become unbearably full of yourself.”

Helio let out a low, mocking laugh. “So you meant to kill me too, right after I married your niece?” He shook his head, clearly looking down on me as if I were insignificant, and that disrespect infuriated me more than anything else. That was exactly how his father and his brother had treated me in the past—and I had successfully wiped them both out.

“Yes, I have done it before,” I snarled, my breathing becoming labored and heavy. “What makes you think I cannot do it again? You think you are untouchable, don’t you? You are not. I promise you, I will kill you in a way far worse than how I ended your brother and your father.”

My body trembled with fury as I began to shift, my form starting to change.

Helio suddenly stilled. He glanced at me briefly, his expression unchanging, before speaking in a steady voice:

“Thank you, Calisto. Thank you for openly admitting that you killed my brother and my father.”

In that horrifying instant, I realized what had just happened. I had fallen straight into his trap. My uncontrolled anger had tricked me into confessing everything.

“You—” I started, but the words died in my throat. It was already too late.

A wicked, triumphant smile slowly spread across Helio’s face.

Helio

When the workday finally came to an end and Idara left the office to her Mom's accompanied by Gabe, I knew it was time for me to pay Calisto a long-overdue visit. What we had done to him yesterday was merely the tip of the iceberg.

I had already confined the old man to his home and stationed my men to keep constant watch over him and his niece, but simply locking him away wasn’t enough. Being stuck inside with nothing but time on his hands would only give him the perfect opportunity to sit and cook up even more evil, twisted plans against me and my mate. I couldn’t afford to let that happen.

So, I had called Darren. Although he was originally employed by Calisto to follow my every move and report to him, the moment Darren realized I had fully awakened the ancient Alpha power within me, he switched his loyalty completely. After all, I had become his true Alpha. Still, that didn’t mean I fully trusted him. I remained wary and had my own men quietly tracking his every move.

“Alpha, the cars are ready,” Darren said as he approached. “Are you heading home now?”

I shook my head slowly, a small, dangerous smile spreading across my face. “No. I want to go pay an old man a visit.”

He understood exactly who I was referring to without needing further explanation. Darren nodded respectfully. “Yes, Alpha. I will inform the driver right away.”

It was finally time to put an end to Calisto’s dangerous games once and for all, and I already knew exactly how to do it.

One thing a man like Calisto hated more than anything else was being humiliated and trampled upon. If I pushed him hard enough, kept chipping away at his pride until he could no longer stomach the disrespect, he would eventually slip up and reveal everything.

But what I uncovered went far deeper than I had initially imagined. It wasn’t just that he had killed Julio. It seemed the old traitor was also the one responsible for my father’s death.

As far as I had always known, both my parents had died in a ghastly accident while returning home from a trip. That was the story everyone believed. But now, he has plainly admitted to killing my father too.
