The Invisible Angel
FRANCINE
“William!”
I was able to catch him into my arms before he completely collapsed on the floor.
Unconscious, I slowly put him on the floor and began treating his wound. His hands have been tight and cannot do anything because of his parents pressuring him to stay away from his mate during the test.
He can’t see or even touch his own which for every werewolf with a mate is a torture. They said they’d rather die than go through the agonizing pain of being separated.
As for their case, William is more attached to the bond with Alana because werewolves coming from the clan of the current alpha king are known to be monogamous.
“Alana…” William murmured in his sleep after I finished putting up a bandage on his wrist.
He is hurt. He is too hurt now that even breathing right now feels like your whole chest is being burned.
I carried William out from the shrine while the attendants were starting to clean the blood in the area.
When I reached his room, I gently laid him down on the bed and performed some magic rituals on him to heal his wounds. I know that the physical pain is just an excess of his emotional baggage that could only be healed by the presence of his mate.
“What did you have to sacrifice this time for Alana, William?” I whispered while staring at him in his chaotic sleep. “I’m sure the moon goddess was touched by your sincerity, that's why she devoured your gift for her.”
He sold his most beloved horse to hire some soldiers to protect Alana in the forest because the alpha king temporarily cut off his supply of money.
And in the shrine, I heard from her that he is giving up five years of his lifetime just for the moon goddess to give Alana a chance.
This is one of the purest, sincerest bonds that I have ever witnessed in this lifetime. Sure, they started off as a bit weak with William committing severe mistakes that had impacted their relationship now but as they progressed together, I am beginning to see the reason why he did that.
“The boy who used to cry to me because of a scratch on his knee is now a man protecting his lady.” I took his cold hand and squeezed mine to warm his. “You have to fight for it, William. Please, do not be like me who has been too cowardly to fight for her mate. I gave up too easily and now, I can only look back and regret the past but cannot do anything about it.”
My eyes watered when I remembered how I rejected my mate thinking it was for his own sake.
Just like William and Alana, I also have a karmic mate, the one that I am allergic with but can’t get enough with each other. In the end, I have to reject and leave him for his own well-being but that’s just what I thought I am doing because a tragedy is just waiting to happen. The one who is going to be rejected will be plunged into death.
Sadly, I am seeing my exact situation in this couple but this one is a more complicated one because of Alana’s secret identity.
“That’s why I will make sure that will not happen. William, you are made for Alana in the same way that she was made to you. You will survive this, I swear.”
I made sure to lead Alana to the proper path. During the first test, I enhanced the potion that she’s been making that the queen luna is still using until now as her tonic. In the second test, I sprinkled a mild poison in the air to make her unconscious so the doctor’s plan of revealing the blood tests of Alana would not push through.
And in the third one, I injected a bit of potion into Alana’s skin to give her more courage to face what’s in that forest.
“And so far, both of you are holding up so well. I am so proud of the two of you, William.”
The door bolted open and Alana came in smiling from ear to ear with obvious good news for William.
Looking at Alana’s glow, I knew that she was her other mate but just like what she does to Lucas, she is resisting it to the best of her abilities.
“William!” she called but her smile vanished when she saw William on the bed. “Francine, what happened to William?”
I stood up to greet her. “Alana, what are you doing here? Aren’t you not allowed to see William?” I asked fearing for the repercussion that this action would entail.
“The queen luna gave me an hour to see William to tell him that I passed the test because she said that her sleeping conditions improved when he started taking the concoction that I made for her, Francine.”
She held William’s hands and kissed his head gently.
“William, I did it! I passed the test, my love.” She kissed his lips lovingly and gave him the brightest smile she could muster but that smile soon turned into worry as she looked at me worriedly.
“Francine, something is wrong with William. He’s hurt, Francine. He is in deep physical pain!”
I caressed her back and smiled assuring her that it’s fine. “Alana, it’s okay. It’s the choice of the alpha prince. Sometimes, no matter how bonded you are to each other, one has to feel and suffer his pain alone until he’s ready to share it with you.”
She blinked hard and nodded. “I may not understand what you mean but if it’s for the better of William, then I will be fine with it, Francine. Anything that will be good for him, I will do it.”
I felt a cold hand touch my heart when I recalled how my mate told me the same thing.
Fighting off the tears in my eyes, I hugged her so tight. “You both are fighting and you both are doing a good job. Good job, Alana.”
She responded by hugging me back while I let my tears fall.
Alana, can you still endure it? This would only get worse than you can ever imagine.
