Chapter 64 - Happy and in love!

Lilith

I found it incredibly easy to talk to Ezra even though I was incredibly nervous about our date. We talked about our families, and I was very surprised. Ezra and his mom lived on the streets. I would never have guessed it, but now that he told me so much more about him, it made sense.

I wanted to ask how he became so rich, but I thought it would be very rude so I kept the thought to myself. After dinner, we were walking down a beautiful street and Paris was everything I ever thought it would be. We never ran out of anything to talk about, which made things just so great. The night slowly drew to an end, and we returned home.

I was simply shattered by the time we pulled up outside my house. I had enjoyed every moment with Ezra, but flying back and forth and all the excitement finally dissipating just completely tired me out. Ezra gave me a soft kiss on my cheek before I walked inside and I was literally smiling from ear to ear. It just goes to show that you can never judge a book by its cover!

I was floating on cloud nine and fell asleep the moment my head hit the pillow.

Ezra

OUR DATE WENT off without a hitch, and I had fallen for Lilith one hundred percent. I knew there was no way I would be able to ever let her go. I wanted to make our first date unforgettable, and her just being there made it the most memorable night of my entire life. She was so delicate, yet so strong. She was so sexy, but at the same time, I knew deep down that she was innocent.

As I drove back home, I realized how much she and Blanca were alike and that I was drawn to them both because of their strength, but Blanca wasn’t Lilith. Blanca was my first mate and no matter what happened between us, she would always have a place in my heart, but Lilith was my new chapter in my life. I needed to do everything I could to win her over.

I arrived back at the pack house and the first thing I was told was that there was a rogue attack. How on earth was I supposed to deal with this?! Most alphas grew up in alpha homes! They were groomed by their parents for the position and had years to prepare. I needed support of some kind and the only person I could think of that would help me was Carlo.

If I was going to stay alive and build a future with Lilith, I needed to prove that I could keep this pack in tow with the council’s rules and I needed to show the pack that I could take care of it. I called Carlo and he answered on the first ring.

Blanca

I DON’T KNOW WHO WAS MORE SURPRISED that Ezra called. Me or Carlo. I was happy after hearing from Lilith that they had such an amazing first date. I swear she called me the second she got back home. Who would have thought that Ezra was so romantic?! Okay, I had a suspicion, but since we were facing a life on the run, I never thought of him as a rich guy capable of sweeping a girl off her feet by taking her to Paris.

I was happy. Ezra was alive and my best friend was dating someone in our circle. All I could do now was pray that she wouldn’t feel too betrayed when she found out what we really were. I would feel betrayed and I would probably not have reacted well. I heard the word rogue and it drew me right out of my thoughts.

Carlo put down the phone and looked confused and surprised. Ezra’s pack had been attacked. We were expecting this because it always happened when there was a new alpha. Word in our circles spread like wildfire and with a new alpha around, rogues always seemed to think it was their chance. They always underestimated the strength of the new alphas and usually got their butts kicked.

But this was Ezra and he had taken control over a pack that … Were basically rogues to a certain extent! Carlo explained what they discussed and I was surprised, but I felt pride in what Ezra was doing. Very few alphas would admit that they were out of their depth and even fewer would admit that they needed help. Carlo gave Ezra a couple of pointers, but he also informed our pack that we had to be on the lookout for some rogues. If rogues got their hands on any of our territories, it would become very difficult for the rest of us.

We were all small packs, but when we stood together, nobody stood a chance against us. It was what made it work so well with all of us so near to the human town. Carlo sat down beside me and pulled me onto his lap. I looked at his gorgeous face and smiled as my hand stroked his cheek. He had grown up so much since that day we found out we were mates.

I loved him more than life itself, and I knew he felt the same. If you told me just a couple of months ago that we would be mated and happy, I would have told you to have your damn palm read. There was no way in hell I would have thought we would be this happy together. All I needed now was to have my best friend with me and my life would be just perfect.

Ezra had to hurry up and tell her so we could get together like we used to. I had been imagining all of us just chilling and hanging out. I imagined Lilith and I being pregnant at the same time and supporting each other till the day we were both grey and old.
