Chapter 231
Chapter 231
Alfreds POV
We were woken up by an explosion. The wall of our bedroom exploded. It was hit by a cannonball. Who the hell was firing cannonballs at the palace? The walls of the palace were well-built, but they had no chance against a cannonball. I was beyond angry at whoever did that. A huge beam fell on top of us. I was afraid that Vanessa had gotten hurt, but to my surprise, she did not. I picked her up and ran out of the palace. Cannonballs were zooming over our heads. I had told Richard earlier where the secret room was. So he could take Sarah there in case of an attack. I meant him as we were running. Sarah was injured, but looked like she was healing. She would be OK. Richard was angry, and judging by his expression, he was just as unhappy as I was. We ran into the back of the palace and went straight to the secret room.
I quickly introduced Vanessa to Sarah. I did not think I had to say she was a vampire since Richard was carrying her. She assumed that she was one. Vanessa did not trust vampires after everything they had done to her. I don't blame her. They have done nothing to help her. In fact, it was the opposite. They had tried to take her down and use her powers. I lay Vanessa on the bed, and Richard put Sarah on a chair. Sarah was crying. Vanessa, even though her ankle seemed injured, limped across the room, wrapped her arms around her, and comforted her. Richard and I kissed our mates and then walked out of the secret room. We knew that they would be safe there. I will leave Vanessa to tend to Sarah, then I will come back to them.
"I'll be back when it's safe."
We then ran out of the door and straight into battle. When Richard and I got to where the commotion was, there were witches, vampires, and werewolves everywhere. Some vampires were fighting with the witches. Not all the warriors had arrived yet. The rest of the warriors were supposed to arrive tomorrow. At least we will have reinforcements in the morning. We would have to hold them off until then. We are outnumbered. Maybe I should have let Vanessa fight and use her powers. Just when I was thinking that. Vanessa and Sarah were standing on the steps of the palace. How did they get out of the secret room? What happened? I was scratching my head trying to figure out what happened.
I gave up and started to run towards them. Richard had spotted Sarah and was doing the same. They were waving their hands around, and in the middle of Vanessa's hand was a white ball of fire, and between Sarah's hands was a red ball of fire. They combined their powers, and the balls merged as one. Then they shot it up, and into the air, and it started to attack everyone who was fighting against us. Our enemies were being eliminated. The fireball started to dissipate. There were bodies everywhere. There were people still alive who were fighting against us. The girls were in hand-to-hand combat with people who had attacked them. I had to admit they were holding their own against them.
Richard and I went to help them. I could tell he was just as astonished as I was. Our warriors were finally beating the enemies back. We dragged the girls back to the secret room. Junior was there with Trisha and Stacey. I was shocked that Stacey did not try to stop them. When we got in there, we kept the door open. The door was supposed to seal when it shut and could only be opened from the outside. I was angry with Vanessa because she didn't do what I told her: stay in the room until I came for her.
" What the hell were you thinking?"
She snapped back at me.
" I was helping."
" Sarah, what were you thinking?"
Vanessa stepped in between Sarah and me.
" She was helping me."
" Do you know what she is?"
" Yes, and I don't care what she is."
My mouth dropped open. I expected to see them in the room fighting or trying to kill each other. The moon goddess blessed me with a mate who could overlook what someone was. If everything that had happened to her had happened to me, I would have been bitter and wanted to fight any vampire. She was not like that.
" You two could have been killed."
Richard was not saying anything. He was letting me handle it. I wasn't getting anywhere with these two.
" Richard, you could help."
" I'm not going to help. I'm scared of both those women."
How the hell could he possibly be afraid of these two girls? They are girls, powers or not. Physically, we are stronger than they are. I walked over to Vanessa and grabbed her by the arm.
" Baby, I don't want anything to happen to you."
" You endangered her and our pups."
I started to rub her stomach.
" The pups were perfectly protected."
"That's right, I cast a spell over her stomach for protection."
I then slapped myself in the face and stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind me. They could stay there a while. Richard was in there with them; maybe he could talk some sense into them. Why is he scared of them? I had heard that when women get together, they are an unstoppable force. These two girls belonged to leaders, and they were sure to be second-in-command. We have betas to help us if we need them to. However, these women were being a pain in the ass. I went out to see what was going on. Both sides were regrouping. We were gathering our injured and our dead. Now we need to be ready for anything. I walked around and checked on everyone. Wayne Richards beta found me.
" Where is Richard?"
" He is with Vanessa and Sarah."
" Is he ok?"
"He's fine except he's scared of two girls."
Wayne laughed at that and then walked away. I guess Wayne had heard that from Richard before. There was something that I was not getting. I was even more frustrated than before. I decided to let them out of the room before the girls drove him insane. They have already driven me insane. When I got to the door, I could hear Sarah yelling at Richard. Now what the hell was going on?
