Epilogue
Amira's POV.
Eight years later…
As the sun's gentle rays painted the room in a warm embrace, I gradually stirred from my slumber, a sense of disbelief washing over me as I realized that an entire decade had gracefully slipped by. Shifting in bed, I found myself gazing upwards, my eyes tracing patterns on the ceiling as I allowed the weight of this milestone to settle in. Last night's class, an unexpected indulgence, lingered as a sweet memory, a testament to the harmony that had found its way into my life.
With a contented sigh, I reflected on the events that had led me to this moment. The years since my graduation, each one marked by my unwavering commitment to mastering ancient medicine, had been a whirlwind of growth and discovery. The mantle of a supreme pack healer and queen had not come without its challenges, demanding a delicate balance that I had gradually learned to navigate. The journey, although arduous at times, had been undeniably rewarding, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of pride at the distance I had traveled.
Nikolas, my constant companion throughout this journey, had remained true to his promise of support and guidance. I vividly recalled his act of silencing my alarm, a subtle yet caring gesture that allowed me to indulge in much-needed rest. A soft smile tugged at my lips as I reminisced about his encouragement for me to relax, a stark reminder of his unwavering presence in my life.
The memory of my parents, once a source of pain, had evolved into a beacon of inspiration. Their legacy had spurred me onward, propelling me to strive for excellence and embody the ideals they held dear. And Nikolas, my rock, had been instrumental in helping me sculpt myself into the person I aspired to be. As I gazed upon the tranquil slumber of our shared space, I marveled at the transformation that had unfolded over the past decade.
It was safe to say my parents would be proud. I might not have rebuilt the pack but their ground was being used for good. Some academies, companies and buildings used their name. Over the years Ava had shown just how great she was at leadership. She found her second-chance mate and he too had proved to be right for the Ocean Dawn and Ocean Howl. The pack was thriving, the academies were now some of the top within the were kingdom and I hoped my kids would attend one day to learn more about themselves, their grandparents and their powers.
The love that Nikolas and I shared had only deepened with time. With each passing day, it seemed as though our hearts found new ways to intertwine, an intricate dance of emotions that wove us closer together. The once enigmatic king, a persona of authority and command, had seamlessly transitioned into the tender and affectionate partner I had come to know. His devotion was palpable, a tangible force that enveloped us in a cocoon of warmth and understanding.
Eager to begin the day, I emerged from the embrace of my sheets and embarked on my morning routine. The anticipation of reuniting with my family – Nikolas and our two cherished boys – propelled me forward. As I made my way toward the heart of our home, the harmonious melody of giggles and laughter reached my ears, a chorus of joy that tugged at my heartstrings.
Stepping into the kitchen, I was met with a sight that stole my breath away. The table, an exquisite tableau of care and thoughtfulness, was adorned with an artful arrangement of fresh blooms that exuded a delicate fragrance. An assortment of delectable delights adorned the plates – pancakes, waffles, eggs, sausages, and a vibrant medley of fruits – a culinary symphony that spoke of the love poured into its creation. Hand-drawn artwork, a sign of younger ones living in the house, adorned the walls, each artwork a testament to how proud and happy they were to present their work to us. In that moment, surrounded by the simple yet profound expressions of love, I felt an overwhelming surge of gratitude. I have earned this.
My gaze shifted towards the kitchen counter, where a heartwarming scene was unfolding before me. Nikolas, standing there with his characteristic air of confidence, engaged in a lively conversation with our beloved boys. The sunlight filtering through the window cast a soft glow on his form, emphasizing the sculpted lines of his torso. Shirtless, hands resting casually on his hips, he oozed an aura of approachable strength that made him both a figure of authority and an embodiment of paternal warmth.
Xander and Xavier, our delightful twins who had blossomed into eight-year-olds, were a true testament to the beautiful blend of our shared traits. Xander sported my vivid blue eyes, a mirror of my own, while his father's rich, dark brown hair cascaded over his forehead, framing his expressive face. It seemed that the wild and untamed locks were a reflection of his spirited nature, an outward manifestation of the mischief that always danced in his eyes. On the other hand, Xavier bore his father's distinct hazel eyes, a swirl of earthy hues that hinted at the depth of his thoughtful soul. His blonde hair, a delicate halo, seemed to complement his quieter demeanor, a gentle curtain veiling the vibrant curiosity that resided within.
In the wake of welcoming our twin wonders, fate once again intervened, gifting us with another bundle of joy, our charming Aaron. Born a mere ten months after the twins, he slotted seamlessly into our lives, a radiant proof of the enduring bond that Nikolas and I shared. Much like his father, Aaron was a striking replica, his features an echo of the man who had captured my heart. It was as if I had created a carbon copy of Nikolas. There was very little difference in the baby photos of Nikolas compared to Aaron’s.
Observing the trio, each with their distinct personas, I marveled at the symphony of individuality that graced our home. Xander, the embodiment of exuberance and outgoing nature, never failed to fill the room with laughter. His infectious energy and knack for mischief were the heartbeats of our household, and yet beneath the playful facade, beat a heart of compassion that always extended a hand to those in need.
Contrasting with his twin, Xavier was the quiet observer, a gentle thinker lost in the embrace of a good book or the mysteries of the world. His thirst for knowledge was insatiable, a beacon of curiosity that led him to explore every nook and cranny of life. His questions, thoughtful and probing, often sparked discussions that carried us into the depths of discovery.
Then there was Aaron, wise beyond his years, an old soul nestled in the body of a young child. His serious demeanor and analytical approach to life often left us astounded, a reflection of the responsibility he carried on his young shoulders. A natural leader, he assumed the role of caretaker for his brothers, guiding them with a blend of wisdom and gentle authority.
United by their sibling bond, the boys were an inseparable trio, their camaraderie a testament to the unbreakable connection they shared. Laughter and bickering alike were woven into the tapestry of their relationship, a testament to the genuine and raw emotions that bound them together. As I stood there, a silent observer of their interactions, my heart swelled with pride and affection for the family we had nurtured.
Nikolas and I, partners in every sense of the word, stood on the sidelines, our hearts brimming with love and adoration for the incredible individuals our sons were becoming. As parents, we had strived to instill in them the values of strength, compassion, and independence. And as we watched them interact, a sense of fulfillment washed over us. We knew that these boys, each with their unique spark, were destined for greatness. Especially since each of them carried my powers and were far better at controlling it than they should.
Over time, our bond with Jacob and Andrea had rekindled, and they were now enjoying their lives with our boys, as well as Tessa's kids. She had a boy and a girl. It was heartwarming to see how they all grew up as one family with so much love. I would do anything to protect this newly found peace but I didn’t have to, Nikolas made more than sure that nothing would ever come our way.
It wasn’t just blood family that we had, there was also Ronan and Chloe who were parents to the two most wonderful little girls and I’m pretty sure it was those two that made Nikolas want a girl of his own but that didn’t mean that he didn’t love his boys, he did.
Even Caine and Mila had a happy life now. They mated and got married, Mila became Luna and also became a doctor. Shortly after the twins were born she had a boy of her own and though she and Caine only wanted one child, fate seemed to have something else planned, now she’s 22 weeks into carrying their baby girl.
“Good morning my loves,” I said as I came closer to them, the boys' faces lit up immediately when they saw me.
“Morning mama!” They cheered and grinned as they looked at me. I leaned over and kissed all three of them on their cheeks. No one prepared me for the amount of attention these baby boys would require but they were the sweetest so it was all ok.
“Good morning, my queen,” Nikolas placed his hands on my hips and pulled me back into him. He kissed my lips briefly, causing the boys to make puking sounds. Nikolas rolled his eyes dramatically and bent down. “How are my two angels doing in here?” He asked, rubbing my ever-growing bump.
As life continued to unfold its chapters, our story took an unexpected yet delightful twist. The news of expecting not one, but two new additions to our family brought a wave of excitement and anticipation. It was as if the universe had conspired to give us a double blessing, reaffirming the boundless love that had flourished within our home.
Nikolas, the ever-protective father, couldn't quite believe his luck when we received the news that Baby B was a girl and Baby A was a boy. His initial disbelief gave way to an almost comical insistence on double-checking, as if he feared that such a rare stroke of fortune might be too good to be true. And so, not once, but twice more, we sought confirmation, each time greeted with the same joyous revelation. Our family was expanding, with a precious son and a cherished daughter on the way.
The journey of parenthood, which had taken us by surprise with its twists and turns, had now led us to a place where the prospect of welcoming two more souls into our midst filled us with uncontainable happiness. I’ll admit, I thought we would stop at two but it appears five is the right amount. They weren’t born yet but I could tell that they were the missing piece.
“I think they’re playing soccer, they won’t stop kicking me,” I sighed and dragged his hand down to where the kicking was happening.
“Babies are meanies,” Aaron made up his mind. It wasn’t just the looks he had from his dad, he copied his dad down to the attitude.
“You were a meanie too,” I teased and ran my fingers through his short hair before ruffling it.
“Hm no,” Aaron made up his mind, refusing to discuss it just as Nikolas would. I could already tell that I’d have my hands full with this one.
“Oh you totally were, you were so excited to meet your brothers that you even came earlier,” I remembered. That birth happened so fast that I only remember pushing for a second and the next thing I knew there was a cry and our Aaron was being taken care of and I had to hold Nikolas back from murdering the doctor.
“I want my baby sister,” Xander whined and threw his head back dramatically.
“What about your baby brother?” Nikolas asked and helped the boys get down from the counter. The hottest thing about Nikolas now was how he could easily carry our three big boys. There was something about the sight that just made my mate go crazy- I was sure three was his limit though.
“I already have two brothers,” Xander sassed and placed his hands on his hips, making me laugh.
“But this baby brother will need your love too, he’ll need someone to teach him how to play football,” I reminded him and he and his brothers thought for a moment.
“Fiiine, we’ll teach him,” Xavier answered and took my hand, leading me straight to the table they set up.
“I’d love that very much, my love,” I grinned. I wasn’t sure how the transition from a family of five to seven would be, but if there was enough love I was sure it would run smoothly.
“We made breakfast!” Xander pointed out.
“I can tell, what’s the occasion?” I wondered and looked up at Nikolas as he pulled the chair for me.
“Daddy said to show you we love you,” Xavier replied, drowning his pancakes in chocolate. That was a lot of sugar but they were not spending the night with us so the sugar rush for Grandma and Grandpa to deal with.
“I certainly feel loved right now, thank you!” I blew them all kisses and started to fill my plate with all the deliciousness.
After breakfast, Jacob and Andrea swung by and came to pick up their grandkids and left as soon as possible, leaving me alone with Nikolas. He had arranged for me and Mila to go shopping. He and Caine had some business things to go over and for once I didn’t care and preferred to be kept out. Between Nikolas and Caine there were so many guards but as the years passed I learned to let it go and just enjoyed my time with Mila.
We both chatted over lunch and ended up buying too many clothes for our babies but it was fine, whatever would be used would be donated. As we shopped we caught up and mostly ended up talking about our Luna/Queenly duties and of course our children. We had so many play dates planned, trying to make sure the older kids didn’t feel left out.
“God damn lady, who’s having twins?” Caine teased when he saw the amount of bags Mila alone had. Mila rolled her eyes playfully and pulled him in for a hug and he kissed her forehead.
“I’ll see you Sunday ok?” Mila turned to me as Nikolas wrapped his arms around me from behind and kissed my cheek.
“Yes, I’ll be sure to send Chloe a reminder,” I promised and waved at the two as they left, Nikolas was unable to keep his composure and kept kissing and caressing my body.
“My king, there are people around,” I whispered and turned to face him. His guards were still around.
“Let them see how much I love their queen." He winked and leaned down to kiss me. One hand cupped my face as the other rested on his hips and tugged me closer to him till my bump was met with his perfectly sculpted body.
“I have a surprise for you,” Nikolas took my hand and led me outside to the garden, where he had set up a romantic date for us. There was a beautiful table set up with candles, flowers, and our favorite foods.
“Oh my god! Is this why you wanted me out of the castle so badly?” I was awed as I looked around.
“Yep, Caine wanted to do something for Mila too so we decided to plan your little outing," he smirked, proud of himself.
Nikolas had gone all out to show me how much he loved and appreciated me. He had even arranged for a musician to play our favorite songs in the background. As we sat down to eat, I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with emotion.
We talked and laughed as we ate, enjoying each other's company. It was such a beautiful moment, and I felt so lucky to be with someone who cared about me so deeply.
After dinner, Nikolas led me to a small gazebo that he had set up in the corner of the garden. He decorated it with fairy lights and flowers, creating a magical atmosphere.
As we settled into the soft cushions of the couch, our fingers interlaced, I knew this was a moment I would cherish forever. We talked for hours, lost in each other's company, surrounded by the serene beauty of the garden. The stars twinkled above us, and the gentle rustle of the leaves in the breeze was the only sound to be heard. It was a night of pure romance, and I felt so lucky to be there with Nikolas.
Tenderly, I leaned over and planted a soft kiss on Nikolas's cheek. "My love for you knows no bounds, Nikolas," I whispered, my voice filled with all the affection I felt.
As Nikolas turned to face me, his eyes were filled with a warmth that made my heart skip a beat. He gently rubbed my growing bump, and his lips brushed against my cheek in a soft kiss. "You are the light of my life, Amira," he murmured. "With your love and our beautiful boys, I feel like the luckiest man in the world."
My heart swelled with love as Nikolas continued to speak. "When I'm with you, my love, I feel like I could conquer anything. But I don't need to, because you and our family are everything to me. I'm so grateful for every moment we spend together, and I promise to love and cherish you for all eternity."
I nestled my head into Nikolas's shoulder, feeling safe and secure in his embrace. At that moment, I knew that I was exactly where I was meant to be - in the arms of the man I loved, surrounded by the beauty of the garden, and with a future full of love and happiness ahead of us.
The End.
