Chapter 269 Return of the Witch Queen

Chapter 269 Return of the Witch Queen

Felda appeared right in the midst of the chaos on the battlefield.

With a sharp wave of her hand, thick dust flew up, making the air blurry and thick. The grit blew straight into the eyes of the Highborn wolves, blinding them as Felda had willed it.

When the dust finally settled and the air cleared, the enemy wolves shifted back into their human forms, blinking hard against the dirt. They stared at her with wide eyes, shock and confusion rippling through their ranks.

"How do we even have a witch here?" one of them muttered, stepping back.

"How come this creature landed right in the middle of our war? Did you miss your way and wander into your death?" The Highborns started cursing, pointing their blood-stained sword at her.

The Highborn commander narrowed his eyes, studying her face closely. "Wait... is this not the slave of the Blood Moon pack? How come she became a witch?! Was this why you were so calm about accepting our war?" He laughed, a bitter, mocking sound. "You brought a woman to a slaughter, King Daze. You really are a fool."

Felda didn't even look at the commander. Her eyes scanned the blood-soaked ground until she found him... Daze.

He was down on the dirt, battered and bleeding, struggling just to lift his head.

The sight of him... broken, stubborn, and completely defenseless without his wolf made her chest tighten with a sharp, heavy pain. She walked straight past the jeering enemies, her footsteps steady and quiet, until she stood right beside him.

She didn't drop to her knees. Instead, she stood tall like the queen she was, offering her hand down to him.

"Rise, my king," she said, her voice steady and full of quiet power.

King Daze looked up at the stubborn woman standing over him. How had she gotten past the wolf's bane barrier he had locked her behind? How was their daughter? He groaned, his muscles screaming in protest as he forced his weight onto his elbows, reaching out to take her hand. Warm blood smeared against her skin as she gripped his hand tight, hauling him up to his feet.

"I told you not to come," he groaned, his breath coming in ragged gasps as he tried to steady himself.

Felda shook her head, a faint, humorless smile touching her lips. "And you really thought I would listen to you? It seems like you still don't know me at all. Even if Zach hadn't broken the door, I would have found a way out. Now, let's stand together and finish this."

"Enough of this stupid love show!" the Highborn commander roared, raising his weapon high. "We know what's going on now! The king gave up his power for a woman, and now you think a few parlor tricks will save you? You'll regret coming to a real blood fight!"

They didn't bother shifting back into their wolf forms. They thought she was just a fragile witch, the one part of her they could smell, completely unaware that there was a wild wolf thrummed beneath her skin too.

She was a hybrid, dangerous and untamed, ready to rip them apart whether they stood on two legs or four.

In the next heartbeat, the battle shifted entirely.

It was no longer the Blood Moon pack against the Highborns.

It was Felda against the entire pack.

She flicked her wrist, and a blazing ray of purple light shot forward like a whip, striking the first wave of Highborns who rushed toward her. They flew backward, screaming as the magical impact threw them into the dirt.

"Get behind me!" she shouted over the ringing steel and the roars of the fighters, commanding the battered Blood Moon warriors who instantly scrambled back behind her, looking at her not just as their king's woman, but as their true queen.

The fight raged on, fierce and relentless.

Every spell she cast tugged heavily at her core, the drain sinking deep into her bones. Her pregnancy made her body heavy, stealing her breath and burning through her energy with terrifying speed.

Sweat plastered her hair to her forehead, and her vision blurred at the edges from pure exhaustion.

'I won't stop,' she told herself, gritting her teeth as another wave of enemies lunged forward. 'I won't let them take my baby. I won't lose Tovanna, and I will not let them destroy the man I love or the pack he bleeds for.'

She threw her hands out, sending a massive shockwave of purple fire sweeping across the grass, but the sheer effort made her stumble.

The king caught her arm immediately, pulling her back against his chest, his own injuries forgotten in his panic. "Felda, stop, you're draining yourself..."

"I'm fine," she panted, blinking hard against the dizziness, pulling herself off him.

Suddenly, the air around her grew ice-cold.

Three faint, shimmering figures flickered into existence beside her.

They were ghost witches... spirits bound to the ancient magic of the land, visible only to her eyes.

Felda froze for a second, her breath catching in her throat.

The first ghost smiled softly, her translucent hair blowing in a wind only they could feel. "Long time no see, Queen Felda."

Felda stared at them, completely stunned in the middle of a warzone.

The second spirit stepped closer, her eyes shining with warmth. "Don't be surprised. You are our queen, even if you walk the earth in flesh and blood. We missed you, and we won't let them touch you or our heir."

A sudden surge of ancient, roaring energy flooded through Felda's veins. The heavy, suffocating exhaustion vanished in an instant, replaced by a cold, blinding power that rushed from her fingertips and into the very ground beneath them.
