Chapter 268: His Cunny Act
"I couldn't believe him! How can he do this?!" Felda said annoyingly as she paced around the room where the king had caged her and Tovanna.
He tricked them and locked the entrance with the wolf's bane, poisonous to their skin. He feared something bad would happen to them as they were female, and knowing the condition of Felda, he never wanted anything to happen to her, especially her pregnancy.
He preferred to die instead of them.
But Felda was sad and angry at the same time. How could he do this when he was weak! He knew exactly what he did because there was no way she could pass without weakening her magic or hurting her baby, and Tovanna would be hurt too!
Tears filled her eyes; she didn't want to lose him, never! She wanted to help him, if he would just remove the wolf's bane.
"I can do this," Tovanna said, suddenly coming back from her thoughts. She wasn't ready to lose her father either; she wanted to know him and have fatherly love.
"What?" Felda asked behind her.
Tovanna started walking towards the door. "I can pass through it, after which you'll follow me." She said without stopping.
"No!" Tears fell from Felda's eyes. "Don't, it's too dangerous; you're still young to do this."
Tovanna didn't look back; she knew she didn't have her mother's magic anymore, but she was a wolf like her father. She was an alpha wolf. She could do this, couldn't she?
She reached the door and grabbed the iron without listening to Felda. She screamed and pulled her hand away, "Ahh!" Her palm burned.
Felda grabbed her back. "I told you! You can't do it; your father knows exactly what he's doing!"
Tovanna looked up at her; tears filled her eyes too. "But does he know if he dies, he is going to get all of us killed? The Highborns will ruin us all."
Felda shook her head. "I don't think so... He thought we would be safe... He didn't..."
She hadn't finished her statement when the door started cracking; both of them looked at each other and stepped back.
"What's going on? Who's in there?" Felda asked, but they didn't receive any response, just the cracking of the door, but that scent... She knew it; it smelled like hers.
The door finally got opened from the outside; a man entered, revealing... Zach.
Felda couldn't believe her eyes, "Zach?!" She rushed towards him and hugged him. Lady Eve entered, and then with her son.
All three of them were the ones breaking through the door.
"Oh moon! Eve! You too!" Felda said, moving away from her brother to hug her old friend.
Lady Eve smiled, "I couldn't afford my sister-in-law to be locked at this moment."
Felda pulled back and furrowed her brows in confusion. She looked between her brother Zach and Eve, already knowing what she meant. "You too already?"
Zach nodded, "Yes, but right now is not the time to talk about us; you need to go save the king."
Felda nodded, looking at Tovanna, who turned to Eve's son, who was talking to her. They were about the same age. She smiled. Good thing she found a friend.
"I'll leave her in your care. Please take care of her, Zach. You know how much she means to me," Felda said, referring to Tovanna.
"Of course, she's my cousin; I'll take good care of her," Zach assured her, but Tovanna already heard them and rushed to Felda. "No, mother, we're leaving together. I want to see my father."
Felda shook her head. "You can't... We all can't leave at the same time; he would be mad at me. Let me go; I'll use my power," she said, turning to a wall, hitting it with a spell. The wall cracked for her demonstration.
Both Lady Eve and Zach smiled happily, knowing the once-witch they knew was back.
Tovanna was still adamant, ready to argue when they rushed one of the injured guards towards a hallway. Then a young lady was seen running after them, crying and shouting, "My husband, my husband, please wake up."
Felda's eyes changed as she saw Emora. "Make way for me; they have injured Cain."
Tovanna moved back, seeing the kind of aura her mother carried, the one she hadn't experienced before, and in a blink... Felda disappeared in front of them.
Tovanna and Enoch's eyes widened in surprise.
Lady Eve walked towards Zach and hugged him, who let her in immediately, muttering, "I hope they will be fine. Let's go see Beta Cain."
Zach looked down at the woman he had chosen to spend the rest of his life with, the one who had helped him in difficult times, and nodded, "Your healing power will be useful at the moment."
Eve looked at him and nodded happily. They walked out, while Tovanna and her son followed.
