Chapter 267 The War

Chapter 267 The War

Three days came in faster than expected.

Every wolf was on alert at the borders; the king couldn't sleep. He tried to convince Felda and his daughter to go to his parents' house or go on a vacation to keep them safe, but Felda refused, not after she knew he had planned to go to war, not with his weakness.

"I'm not going anywhere, Daze; we're fighting together," she told her, back to her old self, not minding she was pregnant.

Tovanna smiled, getting ready also.

At the borders, the guards looked around but didn't see anything. They had started having doubts that their enemies would come until... Suddenly.

There was a shot of an arrow that hit a guard; the guard fell and screamed, "Attack!"

The rest were suddenly on alert too. "Send words to the king now!" Another guard barked orders as they looked around for their enemies that were hiding in the forests.

"Right away," two of the guards ran away from the scene to inform the king of the situation.

Slowly, the guards walked into the forest, protecting themselves with their armour, weapons in their hands, and then suddenly, there was a rain of arrows. The guards, protecting themselves, cut the arrows with their swords.

The Highborns then started showing their heads, seeing that they were almost out of arrows.

"Retreat!" The voice of the beta who just arrived commanded, and the guards did. Beta Cain walked towards their front, "Protect yourself after these shots; strike them. They're out of arrows!"

"Yes ser!!" They agreed, and in the next three minutes, the Blood Moon pack attacked. The Highborns were also prepared; they brought out their swords and started fighting back.

They fought in loud screaming and pain. The Highborns were more powerful than the Blood Moon wolves; even though they were warriors, they cut them anyhow. Blood filled the ground, tears of horror and agony.

The Highborns commander yelled, "You think you can vanish our own and continue to live? We will ruin everyone in this pack, even your stupid king?! He's a fool to think he can fight against us!"

The Highborns' guards laughed while continuing to kill mercilessly.

Beta Cain fought hard; he was trying to hold his breath when suddenly a sword almost landed on his neck, but the sword was thrown away by another sword.

There was silence for a while. The Highborn guard looked up angrily at who would dare to stop him and saw the Blood Moon pack king, King Daze.

King Daze didn't waste any second; he drove his sword straight into his chest. He groaned out, screaming, blood smashing Cain's face, "Ahhhh!!" He cried before he fell to the ground.

The blood Moon pack saw this and were more energized, "Fight them! They're not trained like you! Even the most powerful wolf was defeated by my pack! They're nothing!" The king barked, grabbing Cain's hand to stand up properly.

Beta Cain immediately took his sword that has fell off and started fighting beside his king.

The Blood Moon pack started winning, retaliating, taking revenge for their brothers they had killed.

Seeing this, the Highborns couldn't take it; they dropped their weapons and started shifting into their wolves. If they couldn't take them down with weapons, they would definitely take them down with the wolves that were bigger and more powerful than them.

King Daze stared; his beta and guards looked at him for command. They also had to transform into their wolves, even if they were going to kill them; they had to fight back, but little did they know that their king was wolfless.

Felda couldn't bring it back; she could only strengthen him.

Sweat covered him; he couldn't let these Highborn monsters kill his men or invade his pack fully. He had no other option than to command them, even if it meant he would also die, "Transform and fight!!" He yelled, and immediately there was the breaking of bones filling the air, the cries of pain of those that were hurt and still ready to fight.

Beta Cain's wolf looked down at the king, expecting him to transform, but the king only looked at him and shook his head.

The wolf's eyes widened as it realized that the king was truly empty. In their short moment of sympathy, the wolf lunged its claws at the king, straight at his chest. "Ahhh!" He cried.
