Chapter 173 A Luna's First Rule
Chapter 173 A Luna's First Rule
Aileen’s POV
Leaving the pack that I've known all my life has to be the hardest thing. All my friends, family and even pack members to start afresh in a pack that treated their members like shit wasn't in my bucket list. But for Jace, I doubt there was anything I wouldn't do.
It's been about three weeks since we moved back officially and everything about being a Luna was new to me. But I've seen how easily Alyssa made it look and hopefully I could do the same.
Another thing that I was still trying to get used to, was having someone other than Jace to talk to. The girls had their mind set on making life harder than it was supposed to, but only if they knew exactly how stubborn I was.
“I know this is hard for you, but thank you.” Jace said, kissing me gently.
I shrugged, "I can always go back to visit." I told him. “But tell me something, how do you intend to turn this pack around?"
He didn't respond immediately, “there are a few options but nothing serious yet." He said, “can you help with the teenagers and children? Putting some sense in them will go a long way."
A smirk played on my lips, “yes Alpha!" I whispered, wrapping my arms around him. “Your wish is my command." I added, leaning in to kiss him probably.
The kiss deepened, slow and unhurried as his hands settled on my waist, pulling me closer until there wasn't even the smallest space between us. “So, I was thinking," he started, pulling back to kiss my neck and a small moan escaped my lips. "Maybe we can have the rest of the day to ourselves."
I bit my lips softly, “I thought you'd never–” the door burst open and I swear, I nearly threw the object nearest to me at whoever it was.
"What the fuck do you mean I have to move out?" Iris asked, ignoring the fact that she ruined our moment.
“We'll continue later.” Jace promised as he turned to face her.
Since I came, she's made it clear I wasn't welcome but who cares what she thinks. She was also the ringleader of the other girls.
"First Iris, you do not barge into my office." My mate said, and the softness in his voice when he spoke to me was gone. "And should I remind you who's Alpha now?"
Her frown deepened, “that position belongs to my son, Leon and you know it!"
“And yet here we are." He said, “You have until the end of the day to move out, if no I'll have the Omegas help you."
She paused, as if she wanted to say something but stomped her feet and left instead…not without shooting me a glare like I was the problem.
Okayyy…I was, but she deserved it. She'd gone around telling people that Jace and I were just here to warm the seats until her son was of age and it was the reason why she still occupies the main room. I may or may not have mentioned to Jace that our room was too small and if we could use the main room instead and he agreed since he couldn't refuse me.
"That wasn't too bad, Alpha.” I said, and he smiled.
“I'm glad you approve." He replied, kissing my lips.
The next morning, I woke up alone with a note from Jace telling me he had gone training with the warriors and he didn't want to wake me up. I quickly got ready and went straight to the now empty Alpha's room.
"This is going to need a lot of redesigning, its previous owner has no style.” I said.
"I should warn you, you're not going to last here.” Iris told me. "My brother is going to get tired of you…with more beautiful girls around, you're going to be old news."
“Is that what happened with Ryder?” I mocked and her hand formed a fist. "He looked so miserable, no wonder he wanted my sister-in-law by any means possible."
She took a step closer to intimidate me, “you better shut your trash." She said, “Ryder picked me over that–"
I scoffed, “You might want to pick your words carefully, I'm going to snap your neck and your brother would kiss me good job.” I told her.
Her confidence faltered.
“I'm your Luna now, Iris. You don't have to like me…I really hope you don't but you will respect me.”
I held her gaze for another second before stepping away.
“Don't make me remind you again.”
“Y-you…I-I–” she coughed, trying to catch her breath.
“Oh Iris, you're nothing but trash hiding behind your father's title." I told her again. "You're lucky I'm in a good mood this morning, or you'll be waking up in the dungeon for speaking back at your Luna."
She swallowed hard but didn't say anything and I pushed past her.
Now the next agenda was to tackle her minions and I thought of the best way to handle it. They deserve a little bit of karma for how they treated Alyssa.
Before I could get to the hall where they were waiting for me, another annoying face popped in front of me. "Just the person I wanted to see.” She said, smiling like she'd won the lottery. “I was thinking, we need to throw a huge ceremony to celebrate your Luna ceremony and also invite my son-in-law.”
I snorted, "Your son-in-law?” I repeated, knowing fully well she wasn't talking about Ryder.
“My daughter, Alyssa finally did something to be proud of." She said, “And my son deserves–"
“Take a deep breath." My wolf said, chuckling and I did.
“Jace is not your son…I can't have a mother-in-law like you." I told her and her smile immediately dropped. “You can have Iris as your daughter but Alyssa is not your daughter…stick to your fucking facts." I wanted to add ‘child thief’ but I changed my mind and left her standing there.
The girls greeted me when I entered and I went straight to discussing the matters on my list. The door opened and Iris entered and I didn't miss how the room rearranged towards her.
I was halfway through explaining the changes I wanted to make when Iris interrupted me.
“That won't work.”
I stopped talking and looked at her. “Excuse me?” I said, meeting her gaze.
She leaned back in her chair. “I said it won't work. We've tried things like that before, and–”
“Iris.” I called, interrupting her. "You will not interrupt me when I'm talking."
She stopped, the smug look on her face dropping. She cleared her throat, “You don't know how things works around here Aileen and it's fine–”
I kept my eyes on her. “Luna Aileen." I said and she frowned.
"What?”
“It's Luna Aileen to you.” Her face immediately hardened.
“I don't see why I–”
“Luna Aileen.”
The room went silent, everyone looked like they were waiting for some kind of fight to happen but I leaned back in my chair, refusing to look away from her. She stared at me, clearly waiting for me to back down.
A few seconds passed before she finally clenched her jaw.
“Luna Aileen.”
“Good.” I nodded. “Now, as I was saying…” I continued with the meeting as if nothing had happened. Even though I could feel her anger burning into the side of my face.
The hall had gone silent with everyone paying attention and asking questions. We were getting somewhere.
When we were done, I started going towards the training ground to meet Jace when someone called me. I turned back to see one of the girls who didn't say anything in the hall.
“Uhm…you handled Iris well.” She said, “I've never seen anyone put her in her place."
“Well, nice to meet you too because you'll definitely be seeing it a lot now."
She smiled, “I look forward to it then." She replied and then turned to leave. “I think you're good for the pack…most people think that but they're scared of Iris."
“What's your name?"
“Sienna." She replied, “Sienna Jones."
“I'll see you later, Sienna and it is nice to meet you…officially."
She nodded, and I continued to the training ground. I couldn't wait to see Jace.
Maybe Redveil Pack wouldn't be as bad as I thought. And maybe…just maybe I had finally found my first friend.
