Chapter 172 Our Little Miracles

Chapter 172 Our Little Miracles
Alyssa's POV

"Someone call the doctor!" Zayne called, running towards the door before realising I wasn't following him.

“He's cute when he's confused." My wolf said, and I let out a groan as another wave of pain hit me. Only her would joke about something like that despite our current situation but I knew what she was trying to do and I'd be smiling if two werewolves weren't pushing their way out of my body.

Zayne ran back towards me, carrying me into his arms. "Sorry Red." He murmured, as he ran straight to the Pack hospital.

After about three hours of walking around and hoping to get dilated enough, nothing happened…except the level of pain doubling, I was done and all I wanted was for them to come out already. Zayne didn't let go of my hand, his eyes filled with worry as he watched the doctor do her thing. I wasn't in the right frame of mind to wonder how the doctor was suddenly a woman instead of the one I was used to.

“You’re fully dilated now, get ready to push, Luna.” The doctor said, her voice gentle.

I shook my head, tears spilling down my cheeks. “I can't…I feel like my body is on fire.”

Zayne's grip on my hand tightened, “you can do it, Red. You're almost there.” He whispered, placing a kiss on my forehead that was covered in sweat.

This went on for a while again, me pushing with everything I had, but there was no change. I could hear my mom's voice encouraging me to keep going for the sake of my children.

The doctor paused, turning to Zayne and although she wasn't saying anything, it was obvious she was talking through the mindlink. His worry deepened as he turned back to me.

“Red, can you talk to Nira?”

I nodded, barely able to keep my eyes open and reached out to her. She didn't respond at first, and when she did, her voice strong and calm, she assured me that we could do it. And not long after, I felt a surge of strength I didn't know I had left to push and I did as the doctor commanded… push.

I screamed through gritted teeth, feeling the pressure, the overwhelming pain and then I finally heard the one thing I dreamt about since I found out I was pregnant…a cry, high-pitched. Sharp. And a wave of relief coursed through me.

The room fell silent for a few minutes, before the sound echoed again, louder this time. My breath hitched as tears blurred my vision. I slumped back against the pillows, gasping for breath. At this point, the pain, although there, had subsided as my eyes remained on my baby in the doctor's arms.

“You did it,” Zayne whispered in awe, his voice cracking.

The doctor handed the baby off to a nurse before turning back to me. “You have to push again, Luna. Just one more.” she said.

I barely had time to rest before the pain came again, but this time, I wasn’t afraid. My wolf was there, her presence strong, giving me the strength I didn’t know I had left.

Zayne kissed my hand. “You’re almost there, Red.”

I screamed again, pushing with every last ounce of energy in my body. And another cry rang out, this time softer. I started sobbing before I could even see them.

“I did it." I muttered.

Zayne nodded, “yes, you did." He replied, kissing me and using his thumb, he wiped my tears away.

The doctor smiled as the nurses moved around me with the babies wrapped in soft blankets. My chest heaved, my body trembling from the effort, but all I cared about now was that they were here.

“They’re perfect,” my mom whispered behind me, tears in her eyes.

Zayne leaned closer, wiping the sweat and tears from my face. “You did it, Red,” he murmured. “I’m so proud of you.” He told me, kissing my lips softly.

“Let me see them,” I whispered.

The nurse brought the first baby to me, a little boy with Zayne’s dark hair and the tiniest scowl on his face. I let out a breathless laugh…even from birth, he's already like his father.

“He already looks like you.” I said, my voice weak.

Zayne chuckled, a proud smile on his face. The second baby followed, a girl this time, squirming in her blanket, her eyes still closed but her energy unmistakable. She let out another cry, and I instinctively reached out for her too.

“Hi,” I whispered, tears falling freely now as I held both of them in my arms. “Hi, my babies…”

Zayne wrapped his arms around us, holding all three of us close as if he could shield us from the world. “I love you,” he said, kissing my temple. “All three of you.”

I couldn't be happier, the warmth from his body engulfed me and with the twins in my arms, I was complete and all the pain was definitely worth it.

The nurses took the babies to clean and dress them up properly and when they were done, they brought them back and also showed me how to feed them. I didn't miss the look in mom's eyes as I did that.

The door burst open before I could say anything to her and the guys ran in.

“Where are my babies?” Aileen asked, running to my side. She gasped when she saw them. "They're so precious!”

"Wow!”

"If I wasn't already pregnant, it'd definitely happen tonight.” Aria joked, causing us to laugh.

"Thank you for reminding me that I need to work harder.” Aileen said.

"I seriously didn't need to hear that.” Zayne grumbled but she just rolled her eyes.

They took turns congratulating us and telling us how beautiful they were. My wolf, still weak, murmured something along the lines of how it was very much expected after seeing her parents.

"Have you decided on their names yet?” Lori asked, her voice low as they'd fallen asleep.

I met Zayne's eyes and he nodded, "Guys, meet Kael Alexander King.” I told them and looked at my daughter. "Aurora Elaine King.”

"Even their names sound so beautiful!" Aileen cooed, “I'm not even made you didn't go with Aileen Junior.”

And while Kael looked like Zayne, Aurora was definitely going to take after me. Her hair was exactly like mine and so was the colour of her eyes.

Alpha Dorian and my dad were the last to enter, both of them fawning over the twins.

Everyone stayed in the room, talking in hush voices, arguing who was going to be the twin favourite uncle and aunt. But I was too tired to listen to who the winner was because the next time I opened my eyes, the room had cleared out except for Zayne, who was holding Aurora and looking at her like he still couldn't believe his eyes.

“She was crying but I didn't want to wake you up.” he said, “did you sleep well?"

I nodded, “thank you."

He placed our now sleeping daughter into her cot and sat beside me. “No, thank you.” He said, "You gave me a family, the best gift I could ever ask for, so thank you.”

I smiled softly, "I love you.” I told him, "and being a dad looks good on you.”

This time around, he laughed. "I hope so because I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.”

"Neither do I," I admitted. "But we'll figure it out... together." I said.

He nodded, pressing a kiss on my forehead. "One day at a time."

I smiled, looking at our twins sleeping peacefully beside us.

Somehow, I knew we were going to be just fine.
