Chapter 155 The Luna's Wrath
Chapter 155 The Luna's Wrath
Tristan's POV
Even without looking, there was a kind of relief I felt when Luna Alyssa released her shield. And I let out a deep breath.
"Are you okay, baby?” Elara asked, untying my blindfold and then she frowned. "Of course you're not.” She continued, caressing my face gently, as Jace loosened the rope around my wrist.
“I'm okay," I replied, just as my hand came free and I wrapped my arms around her. "It doesn't hurt.” I told her…which wasn't a lie since the shield was already healing me and making whatever pain the rogues had inflicted feel better.
I cupped her face, "you put yourself in danger." I started again. “You were supposed to stay away and be safe, not come running towards danger."
“If anything had happened to you,” her voice broke, " I'm not going to survive it.”
My chest tightened as she continued. “You saved me when I thought I was beyond saving." Her voice was barely above a whisper. “You gave me a home, I'm not sure I can do this life without you.”
I smiled despite myself and leaned forward, my lips only a few inches from her.
"Seriously?” Aileen deadpanned. "Read the room guys.” She said, just as a loud crash snapped both of us out of the moment we had.
Luna Alyssa had one of the rogues by the throat before flinging him across the cabin as though he weighed nothing. He hit the wall with a loud crack and collapsed, while groaning loudly.
"I'm reading the room, and I can't believe I nearly got on her bad side." Jace muttered.
I sat upright as I took in the state of the cabin. Bodies were lying everywhere in the room and Luna Alyssa was covered in blood. The woman in front of me was someone I didn't recognise.
"My brother is going to be so mad he missed this beautiful sight." Aileen said.
“Right!" Lori agreed, “she looks so hot fighting."
“Hopefully he thinks so too and not have my head." Jace said, and Aileen assured him that Alpha Zayne wasn't going to do anything to him. And besides, it was an opportunity to see the extent of what she could do.
Lisa, the witch, didn't look as confident as she did when she spoke about getting what she wanted. "Now, what were you saying?” Luna Alyssa asked, wiping away the splash of blood on her face.
Viktor fell to his knees, "I'm not with her,” he started, causing her to scoff. “Don't kill me, please." He pleaded, earning himself a glare from his mate.
“I don't know, seems like I might enjoy doing it.” She said, "seeing how you and your mate have no problem killing my pack members."
“I've never seen her like this." Aria said.
Elara's hand tightened around me, “me too." She said, “she must be really angry."
I nodded, Luna Alyssa had never been put in a situation where she needed to do any defending except the first time she came to the Pack. And I could remember how broken she was when she found out she'd killed someone…but now, the smile on her face was something else.
“If you think that little display is going to s-scare me,” Lisa started, "then you cannot be more wrong.” She finished, as she began chanting.
Her voice grew louder and I watched as the smile on Luna Alyssa's face disappeared. Several thoughts passed through my mind, and before I could even voice them out, Jace was already on his feet.
“We should go help her." He said, “she must be tired…considering the fact that she's pregnant.”
I nodded, standing up. By now, most of my wounds had healed and I was okay to fight . “Be careful, please." Elara said, and I nodded.
“You guys can't leave though." Nyra said, causing Jace and I to frown and face her.
“What are you talking about?" He asked.
“She asked me to strengthen the shield and make sure you guys aren't able to step out until she lets you.” Nyra explained, and to prove her point, I reached out to touch the shield but nothing happened. It felt like a wall…one that couldn't be broken down.
“Then undo whatever you did." I said.
She didn't move, “Even if I do, you won't be able to leave until she removes the shield.” She replied, "the only person that can do that is Alpha Zayne.”
“Fuck!"
Luna Alyssa was on her knees and Lisa had a smug look on her face. I ran a hand through my hair.
“I'm able to mindlink Xavier, he wants to know where we are.” Aria said, a sense of urgency in her voice. And I swear, for a moment, I forgot that there was such a thing as mindlink.
"Alpha?” I called, and his response was immediate.
"Tristan? Thank goddess!” He exclaimed, "now where the fuck are you? And Red is with you, isn't she?"
“Yes but–" I hesitated, not sure if I should tell him she wasn't in the best condition and that there was nothing I could do. "You need to get here, I'll ask Nyra to help."
I didn't wait for his response before I ended the mindlink.
Before I could ask, I heard a yelp and I paused to see what was going on. Viktor was on the ground, with his back against the wall and Luna Alyssa was standing.
"Okay, I'm getting bored.” She chuckled, "you actually thought your spell was working? Sorry to burst your bubble." She said.
Then she lifted one hand and without laying a finger on Lisa, the witch's body jerked violently. Her feet left the floor as an invisible force wrapped around her throat.
Lisa clawed at her neck, her eyes widening in panic. "How...?" she choked.
"How is she doing that?” Aria asked.
"Fuck if I know,” Aileen said, "but moon goddess knows I'll pay money to be able to do that.”
Lisa clawed at her throat, her eyes bulging as she struggled to breathe. Her feet dangled above the floor while she tried to break free from the invisible force holding her.
"Impossible..." she rasped.
Luna Alyssa tilted her head, watching her with a bored expression. "That's the problem with people like you," she said quietly. "You mistake being gentle for weakness."
Lisa tried chanting another spell, but every word died in her throat.
"Still trying?" Alyssa sighed. "You're wasting what's left of your strength."
Seeing that his mate was losing, Viktor dropped to both knees. "Please... I didn't know who you were. I only did what she asked."
Luna Alyssa didn't even spare him a glance. “I’m not even sure what to do with you.”
Lisa had stopped struggling and only then did Luna Alyssa let go of her and her body crashed onto the floor with a loud thud, as she gasped for air while clutching her throat. The smug smile she'd worn since we arrived was gone, replaced by pure terror.
Luna Alyssa stood over her, breathing harder than before. "Killing you would be too easy a punishment.” She said, tilting her head slightly. "I'd rather enjoy watching my mate make you pay for everything you've done."
“This isn't over." Lisa swore.
"Of course, it isn't.” Luna Alyssa agreed, "You've not suffered as much as I want you to.”
Silence settled over the cabin, my jaw dropped as I took everything in. “Remind me not to mess with her." Jace murmured.
Then her shoulders swayed. "Luna?" I called, frowning.
She took one step backward, as though trying to steady herself, and her hand flew to her stomach then her knees suddenly buckled.
"Alyssa!" Nyra shouted.
At the exact same moment, the shield surrounding us became lighter and then it shattered into thousands of tiny lights before disappearing completely.
Before any of us could reach her, the cabin door burst open
"Red!"
Alpha Zayne's voice echoed through the cabin just as Luna Alyssa's body collapsed to the floor.
