Lana's POV
I feel incredibly happy that I am able to keep my promise to the rogue werewolves throughout the conversation with the alpha. I can see the apprehension on their faces; they have submitted to me, and at the moment, they don't have any power anymore. All they have as confidence is the words that I speak to them, the promises that I give, and they don't have any way of keeping me in check at the moment.
Now, that doesn't mean that I am about to break my words. I am an honorable person, after all, and I don't want any problems with the moon goddess or anyone like that. But when I think about it seriously, they haven't even made me swear to her. In other words, I am free to do anything I want at the moment. The only reason I don't is that I simply want to keep my promise because I hold my morals high and am the kind of person that does exactly what I say.
Somehow, I am in a very good mood because if he had raised his word, I would have been forced to find another way of carrying out my promise. At the moment though, everything is settled, and it is settled so easily that I find myself wondering at the ease with which it happens. I watch as Alex appears out of the background. I find myself smiling at him; he's the one who sent me on this mission in the first place, like he had known that I was going to be victorious. I have never actually gone on something like this before, but I have gone and come with victory this time.
I feel incredibly happy, and I also know that I couldn't have done it without his help, so I am grateful. He winks at me and continues moving with the rest of them, beckoning for them to follow him. They are all free now to a large extent, and they have happy expressions on their faces. I have a feeling that they are going to be very happy staying with us and walking under us. Somehow, they have been integrated into our pack so easily and seamlessly.
When I think about it, they have really struck the lottery. I think for a while before smiling to myself. They are very happy with one another at the moment; that is for sure, and that leader who has made that decision for them—well, he is the boss. I have to admit he is one of the best people to lead them, and they are correct to trust him to the extent of placing their lives and their faith in his hands because he handles it delicately and is constantly very serious about what he does with their trust.
He leads me to the banquet hall and stretches his hand for me to sit. I smile at him, doing as he wants, and then he starts talking. "So," he says, waiting for a while before he continues. "Exactly what plan did you figure out that they were intending to carry out?" he questions.
I smile as I respond, "Valeria wanted to do something within the line of opening the city gates for them and getting them entrance, granting them easy entrance so that they could storm the city and take it first by surprise," I state.
He blinks, having such a skeptical expression on his face that also turns into an expression of pure anger. "How dare she," he states with a frown on his face. "And she still lives in my city somewhere," he says. "I wish I could teach her at this very moment," he breathes angrily.
"I will absolutely kill her," he continues, but I tell him to relax. "She's not here anyway, so you can cool down, and I'm pretty sure you haven't found her since four years ago. She has established herself well in this city."
He frowns at me. "That doesn't mean that I won't be able to find her if I look," he states. "She has really helped everyone this time around, and it's important for me to end her threat before it becomes even more serious."
I completely understand what he is saying, and at that moment, I decide that it is best for me to stop defending her because, seriously speaking, if she is executed or locked up behind bars, it is good news for me. After all, she is his ex-wife; because of that, she is my enemy. He refers to me because as much as they are probably no longer connected to each other, I know that at the same time, anything could happen, and all the wonderful things I am enjoying with the alpha would simply cease because of her and her presence.
I don't see her as a witch. I don't believe in that kind of magic, at least not within a closed room and with a person. I know that people are capable of different things, and I'm not about to rule out the possibility at all. I see something terrible absolutely happening—him suddenly going against me.
He frowns at me as if surprised that I'm not defending her anymore. "What am I supposed to keep on fighting for her sake?" I question, laughing. "Do whatever you want to do with her."
He seems to think about it for a moment, frowning a bit. It is my turn to question him. "What is the matter?" I ask. "You don't have any feelings for her, do you? She's not even the mother of your son. Well, grandson," I continue, touching my stomach.
He smiles a little. "Funny that my son would give me one," he says. I exhale sharply. "Wow, only you would find it funny," I tell him.
He laughs and says, "No, it's not in that way. I simply didn't think that I would have a child and then I would suddenly just be involved with you," he says. "Somehow it feels like an abomination."
I smile as I think about it. It isn't completely wrong. At the moment, it doesn't just feel like an abomination—it is an abomination. And it isn't supposed to be at all. It has never been like that in history, after all. However, I'm not about to disrupt the way things are because I absolutely love it. I love him more than I ever loved his son. I am going to make sure that this new child that is with us is not asking me so that he doesn't turn out to be the monster that his father was. Instead, I am looking like his grandfather.
"How is it?" he questions all of a sudden. I find myself blushing and dismiss myself. "What is it?" he questions like it is a very normal conversation for him to be having with me, and he doesn't see that it would feel like this. "The pregnancy is going well," I say. At least that's what I think. "When was the last time you've been to my hospital?" he questions.
I look at him like I didn't expect such a direct attack from him. "I'm sure," I tell him simply. His comment makes it clear he doesn't believe me. "You will have to see a hospital," he says to me quite seriously. "You have to see a doctor," he says, before making up his mind.
I tell him that it is fine, but he doesn't look like he believes me. "When we get back to the capital, after calming this thing down," he says, glancing out the window as if he could already see it. "I will make sure that I deal with Valeria properly." I nod as the alpha continues speaking, though there seems to be a piece of the conversation missing. The conversation between us is so attractive, and he seems to be thinking about a thousand things while talking with me.
I put my hand on his, and he looks at me in question. I smile at him. "Don't worry about anything. I see everything's going to work out well."
He nods, but he still looks a little worried. So, I ask, "What on earth are you even thinking about?"
He shakes his head. "Nothing," he says, but I already have a pretty good idea. However, since he doesn't want to tell me, I'm not about to push him. Instead, I offer only my smile for comfort. Somehow, it seems to be enough.
"What do you think about spending the night in your room?" I tell him. "Or maybe mine."
He doesn't seem to understand what I was hinting at at first, but then his eyes widen in shock.
"What?" I question.
He is on his feet, smiling at me. "I don't mind at all," he says. "If you are up for it, we can do it right now."
"Wait till midnight," I tell him laughingly, but he's already flinging me over his shoulders.
I kick playfully, but it's all to no avail. I already know how this is going to end, but I don't really want to stop it. I'm actually looking forward to it.
