Chapter eighty-six

And that his strange behavior was starting to get to me.

There was something that he wasn't telling me. Is there anything wrong with my face or my eyes?

I would have loved to check with the mirror but the pain at the back of my head couldn't allow me. My head seemed to be throbbing so hard as if a hammer was being knocked on it.

I didn't want to wince. I didn't want his sympathy or constantly being seen as weak so I struggled, fighting back the pain.

"I think you should rest more often," he said and I frowned. "... the doctor said that you need more rest," he added, trying to divert from my initial question.

"I am fine," I managed to respond. Hating the fact that he was hiding something from me.

"Yeah, only if you rest more," he said and touched my stomach. My body shivered at the sudden contact and a smile appeared on his lips.

"I know_" he started but I cut in immediately. "I need some fresh air,"

His face darkened instantly. "The air conditioner is on. You are not stepping away from here, out there is not safe."

Really?

So for fucking nine months, I am going to get stuck in here a prisoner.

My expression hardened and I shot him a sharp look.

"You can't keep detecting how I spend my days!"

"You're pregnant, Bella!" He shot back and my jaw tightened. "..... I will do anything to make sure you are okay. If you are bored, I will create time to come stay with you but you are not stepping out from here. This is the only place that you will stay and I will know that you are safe."

He tried to sound as calm as possible but the seriousness in his tone went unnoticed.

"I don't need your damn time!" I bellowed, "I will not spend fucking nine months trapped in here like a prisoner, and relying on others for protection!"

Just the thought of that feels like a horrible nightmare.

I watched as his teeth gritted as he struggled to contain the fury boiling inside him.

"You are not a prisoner. This is my pack, your pack, and here is your home. The pack is not safe now, and the person you are relying on is me and I am not complaining!"

I felt my face twist into a scowl. My eyes blazing with a fierce rage. ".... So concerned about the child that I had to pause life!" My voice raises up to the last word and I glare hard at him.

"Nobody is telling you to put a stop to your life. I understand that this is your first time but we have to protect our child,"

He stated and even if we have to argue forever, I know he has made up his mind.

I would be forever trapped in here for the next nine months to come.

So no need wasting the little energy on me. I started down my stomach and looked away, my heart breaking.

Valerio sighed and ruffled his hair in frustration before turning back to face again. His eyes softened and he opened his mouth to talk when suddenly he froze.

I know it's a mind link.

And after a while, his tensed body relaxed back again and he left out a deep breath.

His hand came up to hold mine as he kneaded gently on them.

"Sorry, Bella, but my attention is called." I titled my exhausted gaze to cast him a look. I didn't say anything. Looking at me, he gulped and added. "Trust me, I will be back,"

He looked at me to respond but I remained mute. What can I say?

After a few minutes of waiting with no response, he finally got it that I wasn't ready to say anything so he just kissed the back of my palm, the act sending a quick jolt of sparks down my spine.

Valerio then leaned forward and pecked my forehead before standing up and walking away. Immediately the door was shut, a trail of tears slid down my face, the reality of how my life was going to be in the next months flashing in front of me.

Clutching the duvet, I instantly shook my head, refusing to let go of everything just like that.

I have stayed till this day for this revenge. To put an end to those monsters and I wasn't going to back down now. Whether pregnant or not... I looked at my stomach again.

I am not giving up.

And I am not going to spend a few more months here. Aurora needs me... My pack needs me and my dead parents need to rest in peace. And the only way was to leave this pack.
