Chapter seventy-one
Isabella.
There was yet no news about Aurora, though Valerio assured me that he did look for her.
But after what I saw that day between Valerio and Brielle, I felt f******g bad. If someone had told me that Brielle could do this, I could have laughed and waved it off.
Aurora was right but like I said earlier, I did take it that she didn't like Brielle. Brielle appeared so innocent and over-friendly that whatever she said to me seemed to sound believable to my ears.
But in the end, I was a fool.
She never liked me…. To her, I stole her man.
Sighs***
I was walking down the corridor when my gaze fell on that coward, Brielle. She was walking down while I was walking forward. That means we both have to walk past each other.
Brielle eyed me and huffed, letting out a mocking snort as she tried to walk past me but I blurted out quickly, not able to watch her walk away in all her glory.
"Why pretend to be my friend when you don't like me?"
"Excuse you!" She paused instantly and scowled before asking with a raised voice.
"You heard me right," I slowly turned to face her. "So he was your betrothal?"
Her face was sharp and filled with nothing but pure hatred. Why didn't I see through those smiles and lies? So this is it… her once overly smiley face looks murderous right now.
"Finally, he told you," she snarled with a bitter laugh before a lopsided smirk appeared on her side lips. "Why lie to me?" I asked again, wanting to know why.
Yes, I understand that in her mind, I stole her man but it wasn't my fault. It wasn't my idea for us to be matched together by the universe as mates. And besides, who still does betrothal in this present era?
"Do you deserve to be told any truth?!" She uttered harshly, jolting my attention back and I glared hard at her which she returned.
"I never forced us to be mates, Brielle," I said, trying hard not to sound rude despite what she did. But she spat quickly, "Then reject him! We were meant to be together. Val….."
"Watch your tongue!!" I cut in, interrupting her and she glared at me.
She thinks she can intimidate me because she has a wolf? Trust me, those looks have nothing on me. I have seen more than that, growing up. I have seen worse…. So believe me when I say, I am already used to that.
Right now, their desire to intimidate me has got nothing on me. That was then not anymore.
A mocking glint twinkled in my eyes, "Why desperate for a man that doesn't want you?" I asked, taking bold steps toward her and she smirked back.
Stepping forward with her arms folded across her chest.
"And you think he wants you?"
" Yes," I chimed in, my smirk widened, causing her jaw to clench. "You're witness to that,"
"And come to think about it, I think you had a hand in what happened that day in the northern region," I blurted out and noticed her still instantly. Her sharp gaze bored into me.
"Don't be stupid!" She latched out but I smirked instead. And that annoyed her, she sure wasn't getting the reaction she wanted from me.
And I am making sure of that.
Does she think her presence will terrify me because she got a wolf….?? Na-na!!! Come on, b*tch, I have been trapped under two monsters before but I survived.
"My instinct never lied,"
Hearing my words, Brielle erupts into a mocking laugh. "And it never told you where to pop out your dead wolf from?" She snapped harshly but I smiled again. Her words are not new to me.
It has been a daily insult to me, she should say something new… hahaha!
"Trust me, Brielle, I believe you have a hand on that. But trust me, all I need is just evidence and I will have your ass whooped," now those smiles have faltered away, and her hard stare fall on mine.
"Because he claimed you, doesn't make you all high and mightier," we are now closer, almost covering the gap between us. Both of us had a look of contempt in our eyes. "..... Remember he has been mine before you came into the picture. I know something you don't know about him, for his father to match us both together despite the mate stuff. He has a reason and Valerio knows,"
I gulped hard, not yet sure what she was trying to say. I kept my face blank, not allowing her to know what was going through my mind.
You can never intimidate me, Brielle.
She stopped stepping forward and leaned back. A tiny dirty smirk playing at the bottom of her lips as she snarled maliciously. "The pack needs a strong Luna… they will never accept you as their Luna." Suddenly, her words hit me hard, tugging at my heart.
Damnit!!
"Is it not Valerio again?" She smiled, noticing how silently I had suddenly gone. I glared at her but she laughed. And that seemed to push her into saying more, "Once he is done, he will trash you…. He needs a strong Luna to rule beside him,"
She blurted, snarling but I just smiled, crossing my arms over my chest.
Her words stung hard but sorry, I am definitely not letting her see those reactions.
However, Brielle seems to be taken aback by her futile attempts to ridicule me.
"You seem to know too much about a guy that publicly rejected you, isn't that interesting," I hummed, and mockingly tapped my jaw thoughtfully. Her face immediately twisted in anger, before she growled threateningly, baring her fang but I didn't flinch.
I remained on my spot with my head high. She should know that Alpha blood also runs in my vein, if not for my status… I won't be here with her today.
"YOU_ " she fumed, glaring at me. She can't do anything unless Valerio will have her head chopped off. She can only burn in anger, and that was satisfactory enough to watch.
"What?" I feigned Innocence, raising my eyebrow. "If after he is done with me like you said, I don't think he will go for you either. Nobody wants an ugly doll, donned with thousands of makeup yet she doesn't look appealing," I snickered and her gaze widened in total shock before resentment quickly flashed in them.
She opened her mouth…. Then closed it back. She opened her mouth again and then shut it back. If looks could kill, believe me, I will be six feet down. Her body was shaking vigorously in anger.
Brielle's eyes are getting red…. Wait!! Did she want to cry? Hahaha!!
Her lips were trembling before she found her voice and spat out Venomously. "You will regret this!!" She turned around to stomp away but I laughed.
My laugh fueled her anger … It was more like adding salt to a wound.
Brielle paused abruptly in her tracks, her back facing me. I can see her curling her fists beside her while struggling not to break down.
Lolz…. I made the Almighty Brielle cry!!!!
Oops!! I deserve some rose flowers and hot chocolate tea but somehow my heart hurts. Her words were breaking me inside no matter how strong I tried to appear. Although this was what I had wanted; I'm not sure if I will survive after my revenge and even if I do, ruling beside Valerio scares me, considering my status.
I had known this but hearing someone say it.... Hits hard.
