Chapter 27 Shame
Chapter 27 Shame
Selene
Dain continued running his finger through my folds and then he began to stroke my clit. A gasp left when lips when I felt him flick on my flesh and it felt so hot, I felt so hot as he did that, and from the way he slowly moved, it strangely felt good. I didn't show any reaction still and just kept my legs wide open for him.
He continued playing with my flesh and my breath came in soft gasps at every stroke, then I felt him pinch my clit. The truth was that it felt kind of good and exciting. It did felt good, from how he moved so slowly and then, he was playing with my flesh. His movements were slow and deliberate and w also very intense. Before I knew it, I felt a warm feeling down there. And then felt a heat and Dain’s fingers got wet. From me. He got me wet.
“Hmm..” Dain drew out slowly, looking satisfied with the fact that he got me wet. He did get me wet. That was…unexplainable and it felt so good with the way he moved his finger and then he slowly pushed a finger inside me and it felt better as there was lubrication for him. It did not feel forced or painful.
He soon began to fuck me with his finger. It was just a finger at first and then, Dain added another finger. He started slowly and then he went on fast. As he fucked me, his other hand massaged my breast which he began to play with. He fingered and played with my clit with his thumb and it felt really good. I wasn't going to deny that. What hurt was that I was getting and feeling the pleasure from the man that I was supposed to hate so much.
And then I felt it building up. The pleasure. I was going to cum. “Oh….oh my…fuck..” I gasped and I felt it crashing down on me.
And then it hit me, so fast, so fierce I forgot how to breathe. The feeling rose inside me like a tidal wave, sweeping every thought out of my head. My whole body tightened, not in pain, but in something powerful and unfamiliar, something that made my heart stutter and my lungs tremble. I felt warm all over, as if a spark had been lit deep in my stomach and was spreading through every inch of me.
For a second I couldn’t move. I couldn’t think. I could only feel. It was overwhelming, dizzying, a rush that curled my toes and made my hands shake. I didn’t even realize I was gasping until the sound slipped out of me, soft and uncontrollable.
When the wave finally crashed and slowly faded, I sat there stunned, my pulse racing, my body tingling. It was my first time feeling anything like that, raw, intense, and impossibly new. “How does it feel?” Dain asked and I was breathing so heavily, my cheeks flushed.
“Good,” I replied, not being able to lie. It felt good. Very good.
“You can go for today.” Dain drew his chair back and then stood up on his feet. “I have a lot to do.” He told me and I looked around the room and it was then that I realized that it was actually a mess. There were papers around, all over his bed. I swallowed.
“If you need my help with anything, I can help,” I told him in a low and careful voice. Sounding so calm and innocent. The plan was to get closer to Dain and having sex with him wasn't going to cut for it if he'd just fuck me and ask me to leave. I had to do something else so I could kill him fast enough.
Alpha Dain looked at me for a while and then he sighed. “Gather the scrolls on the bed and then arrange them. Sort them out by date.” He told me and I quickly bent over to pick up my dress which I had worn in a hurry, tying the straps.
I turned toward the bed, where the scrolls were scattered like fallen leaves. Some open, some crushed at the corners, some placed carelessly on top of others. Dain wasn’t messy, he was careless with the things he didn’t fear losing. That alone said a lot.
I began collecting them, placing each parchment neatly in a stack. The paper was rough under my fingers, brittle in places. I moved slowly, making sure the scrolls didn’t tear.
“Sort them out by date,” he repeated, his voice low but steady. He moved toward his desk, flipping through a ledger. “And put the clan-marked ones apart.”
Clan-marked. Perfect.
“Yes, Alpha,” I whispered.
I unrolled the first scroll just enough to check the date at the bottom, but my eyes traced the lines automatically, absorbing names, places, movements. Patrol logs. Minor disputes. Grain shortages. Nothing important.
The next scroll was thicker. A record of peace treaty renewals.
Then another. My breath caught for the smallest second. This one detailed the southern campaigns, the year the witches were slaughtered.
I forced my hand not to tremble as I placed it in the “older” stack.
Dain moved across the room again, but he wasn’t watching me. He was rummaging through drawers, irritated, muttering under his breath. He didn’t notice the way I read each document more carefully than necessary. He didn’t notice that every detail I collected sharpened my plan.
I reached for another scroll. Long. Heavy. The crest on top, a wolf head with curling runes, made my heart thud painfully. This was a war log.
I opened it and read the words, “No witch has been seen in sight since the attack.”
My chest tightened, a slow burn spreading through my ribs. I swallowed hard, fighting the urge to tear the parchment in half.
Not yet.
“Everything fine?” Dain asked without looking up.
I exhaled calmly. “Yes, Alpha. Just sorting.”
He grunted in response.
I rolled the scroll quickly and slid it beneath two harmless trade reports. My hands continued working, my mind racing. Every scroll revealed more of his rule, how he thought, how he commanded, how he destroyed.
And how he could fall. When I was finally done, I stood beside the bed. “I’ve arranged everything.”
Dain turned, studying the neat stacks with faint approval. “Efficient,” he said. Then his eyes lifted to mine. “More than I expected.”
I lowered my gaze, hiding the cold fire inside me.
Good. Dain’s gaze lingered on me a moment longer than necessary, unreadable as always. Then he drew in a slow breath and stepped back from the bed.
“That will be all,” he said.
I straightened slightly. “Alpha?”
“You’re dismissed.” His tone was firm, final. “You’ve done enough for today.”
My heart gave a small jolt but it was not of fear, but of satisfaction. Good. The less he suspected, the more freely I could observe him. The more time I had to prepare. I bowed my head obediently.
“Yes, Alpha.”
I gathered the last empty ribbon from the mattress, placing it beside the sorted stacks, and stepped away carefully. His room was warm, dim, strangely silent, and was definitely not the place I imagined for a man with so many deaths under his command. I slowly left his room.
The hallway felt colder than it should have. I wrapped my arms around myself as I walked, trying to steady my breathing, but the air seemed to tighten around my chest with every step. By the time I reached my room and closed the door behind me, the weight I had been holding in began pressing too hard.
I sank onto the edge of the bed, fingers digging into the blanket. For a moment, I just stared at the wall. Then everything started to blur.
I shouldn’t have let myself feel anything. Not for him. Not for Dain.
A broken breath escaped me, and suddenly tears were sliding down my cheeks before I could stop them. I pressed my palms to my face, but it didn’t help, the memories crashed through me anyway.
My mother. Her laughter. Her warmth. The way she used to tuck my hair behind my ear when I cried.
My twin… her smile, always softer, always steadier than mine. The way she would grab my hand before we did something reckless.
Their screams echoed in my head now. The flames. The scent of smoke. The sound of a life ending too fast.
I bent forward, my shoulders shaking.
Why was I crying now? I had promised myself I wouldn’t, not until Dain lay dead beneath my blade. Not until my people were avenged.
But my body betrayed me. I enjoyed it when he touched me and then had a release.
I covered my face again, ashamed of how my heartbeat had reacted when he touched me. How my breath had caught. How, for one terrifying second, I forgot who he was, forgot what he had done, for one stupid, weak moment that left me trembling afterward.
I wasn’t supposed to enjoy anything he did. I wasn’t supposed to feel anything except hatred. I had sworn that.
And yet, when he pulled away, when he dismissed me… guilt twisted in my chest so painfully I thought it would rip me apart. Because part of me had responded. My body had reacted even though my mind despised him.
What kind of monster did that make me?
I shook my head hard, wiping my eyes, but more tears kept falling. “I’m sorry,” I whispered into the empty room, voice breaking. “Mama… I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to…”
I clutched the blanket, curling into myself.
He had destroyed everything. My home. My coven. My family. And here I was, shaken not by fear or anger, but by confusion. Guilt. Shame. A twisted, unwanted sense of warmth that didn’t belong anywhere in this mission.
I hated my body for betraying me. I hated that he could affect me at all. I hated that in his room, for one heartbeat, I felt something other than rage.
A sob tore out of me.
“I will kill him,” I whispered, voice shaking. “I will. I promise.” I had to.
