Chapter 77 Chapter 77: All Symptoms
ARIANNA'S POV
I switched it on, wanting to see the things I had left on it before the attack had happened. I checked the documents I had on it before.
They were all still intact. I copied them to my new phone and laptop; I was about to put it off when I caught sight of my messages.
I clicked on my messages, reading through them when I saw the last message Kieran had sent to me. It was quite a coincidence that I got attacked just after I saw his message.
It seemed Kieran was up to no good again. I had been truly relieved when I heard he had left the city. Only for him to come back this way.
I would show Lucien when he comes to pick me up. I set my focus once more on the case file I was working on.
Once I was done with it, I was about to pick my next case file to sort out when my mind flashed towards the woman who had sent me the pictures.
I clicked on her contact, forwarding it to Alex. Something about her rubbed me the wrong way. Apart from the fact that she was Lucien’s Ex, she managed to conveniently send the pictures when Lucien and I were looking into the attacks.
It seemed to me there is a connection between Radiel Krook’s attack, Kieran’s ominous message just before I got attacked and the sneaky ex.
I shouldn’t jump into conclusion; I would wait till Alex sent me the result from their search. The rest of the day was occupied by more case file sorting.
I rubbed at my sore neck at one point; my neck popping as I straightened on my seat. I stepped out to get something to eat at the cafeteria, my stomach rumbling with hunger again.
My fluctuating mood was a bit concerning but I paid it no mind. It was most likely an effect of me working too hard.
Luckily for me, the cafeteria still had some options I could eat. With hungry I was, I wouldn’t be surprised if I could finish a whole plate of food.
The pasta there was still hot somehow, making me break into a little dance. I scooped a bit of meatballs onto my pasta to finish up my late lunch.
I settled into a table as I dug into the food. I was shocked I still had any space left in me despite the fact I already ate lunch in my office.
It was time to go for another checkup. I had been to my doctor since the time I went there when my heat was approaching.
Speaking of heat, now I was no longer of any suppressant. I should be in the middle or have gone through another cycle of heat.
It couldn’t be what I am thinking, right? I pressed a hand against my belly, wondering if what I was suspecting was right.
According to my doctor, the years of suppressants would have reduced my level of fertility. I guess that was why I didn’t press the issue of Lucien wearing a condom during my heat.
Not that I was in a frame of mind to make such decisions. With the way his rut had clashed with my heat, even if he had used a condom, it would have been practically useless.
I finished up my food in a daze, my mind swirling at the possibility of there been a pup made by Lucien and I inside of me.
Even though this isn’t the ideal moment nor time to have a pup, I would cherish it with my whole heart. I headed back to my office, my heart beating as I stepped inside.
That would mean Lucien had to mark me soon. Omegas got pretty weak during pregnancy and are boosted by the energy sent through the bond link between them and their Alpha.
I shook my head; I had to calm down. I was moving faster than my shadow. I texted my doctor for an appointment then.
I would know for sure. I went down the rabbit hole of the net, looking for symptoms that one would experience if they were with pup.
According to the net there were a lot of symptoms and they didn’t apply to all omegas. So far so good, I had experienced each and every symptom that was mentioned.
My heart sped up in my chest, all signs pointing towards me pregnant. I switched my phone off with a shaky hand.
My phone pinged with a message then. It was my doctor; she was going to be free on the day the duel was meant to take place.
The weight that single day carried just became even heavier. “Hey, I am leaving already” Glory let out as she poked her head through my office’s door.
“Okay, goodnight” I waved at her as she walked away. I stood up to start packing my stuffs too, it was already time to clock out anyway.
I tried calling Lucien as I walked into the elevator but the call kept dropping. I frowned at my phone, wondering what was wrong with the network here.
I tried his number again as the elevator descended to the first floor. The call didn’t go through. It was kind of best this way.
I wouldn’t say anything about what I suspected. The downside was I had to enter a cab to his house. Now my apartment felt strange to go to without him.
I let out a sigh as the elevator pinged open. As I stepped out of the elevator, everywhere went dark. I let out a shocked gasp, the sudden darkness leaving blind for a few minutes.
I switched my phone on, clicking on the flashlight icon. First there was poor network, now this? I would table it…
Something clanged somewhere behind me, making me freeze for a second before I picked up my pace as I walked out of the building.
I managed to tap onto Lucien’s contact, hoping he picks up as I heard footsteps behind me.
