Chapter Eighty-Seven: Bring It On

The next morning, as soon as my eyes opened, my mind was full of nothing but determination. Today was finally, going to be the day when all which has helped Julia with her dangerous and awful plans will be stopped and held accountable.

“Good morning, Ma’am, I have been able to collect the device that we need to block any communication between the spies and Julia. I’m ready when you are.” Macaulay mind-links me a few moments after I had woken up, with a smile, I jump out of bed and head into the shower, it was time to make these bastards pay!

After walking out of the wardrobe fully cleaned and clothed, I spot Max stood by the bed still buttoning up his shirt, his face full of surprise when he spots that I was fully ready for the day.

“You are dressed and ready before I am?” He questions me with a smile, I only shrug my shoulders looking around the room to ensure I hadn’t forgotten anything before I leave.

“I have an extremely busy day ahead of me, the sooner that I get up and leave, the sooner I can get it all done.” I smile walking over to him to place a goodbye kiss, once we pull away, he takes my hand to stop me rushing off.

“Are you speaking of official work or case work?” He asks me with a raised eyebrow, I didn’t even have to speak to answer his question where he sighs a little. “What are you planning?” He asks with a little look of worry but also, a hint of pride on his face as he looked down at me.

“All will be revealed later, I best get going as I need to meet Macauley in the lobby right about now, you know how on time he likes to be.” I explain placing yet another goodbye kiss on his lips before walking towards the door, but once I open it, I have to stop due to him speaking.

“Be careful Rose.” He says with a stern look telling he was serious, but I only lean against the door looking at him with a smile and a little chuckle.

“I’m always careful.” I laugh before sending him one last wave and quickly, leaving the room to meet Macauley down in the lobby, it was time to get this done.

As I walked down the halls that early morning, my head was full with the many plans Macaulay and I had come up with to get this done. Before, I could only look into this case and try all that I could to understand it, but now, I could finally, get things in motion and start taking down Julia’s spies one by one.

After a couple of minutes, I arrive in the lobby where Macaulay stood right in the centre, many guards like people stood behind him waiting. But as I walked in, all of them bow their heads towards me in respect as I reach Macauley, this is something I now have to get used to as Queen, even if I’m simply walking along the corridor, anyone walking by will bow towards me before getting on. But as I took a closer look at the men behind him, I realised they weren’t the same as the ones I am used to, their uniforms were not red as like the ones here but black.

“It’s nice to see you ma’am, are you ready?” Macaulay asks as I come to a stop in front of him, I send him a smile as a yes but do focus on those stood behind him. “I suspect you’re wondering who is standing behind me, once we take all of the spies in, they will obviously, not go down without a fight where these guards are highly trained to deal with people such as this. They will take those captured to the dungeons where they will remain until yourself and the King have decided what to do with them.” Macaulay explains where I do take an even closer look to those behind him and I had to say, these guys were huge! I know if I had to be restrained by them, I wouldn’t stand a chance!

“I do have to ask ma’am, does the King know what is happening?” Macauley asks where I have to shake my head, I’ve wanted to tell him since I found out but I’m unsure if he’ll be able to remain calm long enough for me to take all of these people in undetected.

“I was looking at Max’s schedule last night after he fell asleep, and he seems to have a meeting this morning with Fred and Guy. I want him to act as normal as he can to not raise any red flags to Guy.” I explain where Macauley once again nods his head telling me that was probably the best idea, I know Max won’t mind that I didn’t tell him the full truth once he realises who it is we’re going after.

“Okay ma’am, this next step is all up to you, where are we heading first?” Macauley asks with a little smile, but in my mind, there were a few people who had disrespected me the first chance they got, and you know what they say, revenge is so sweet.

“I was also checking many other schedule’s and found a certain group of officials are having an important meeting, how do you feel about gate crashing?” I ask with a little smirk imagining how great it was going to be when I saw their faces, it may have taken me some time but I’m hot on their tail.

“Lead the way ma’am.” Was all Macauley replied with his own smirk before I nod my head and begin to walk in the direction of their special little meeting room, one that’s about to be shaken up.

A smile was plastered on my face as I walked the halls of the palace, such purpose in my stride as each person bowed when I walked by. Macaulay walked just behind me whilst sea of guards ready to start taking some men in stood behind him. It was as though we were an army marching forward to our battle, that we intended to win.

Before long, I arrive at the double doors and throw them open, causing a few of the men sat at the table in their pressed suit to jump from surprise a little and stare at me.

“Your majesty, we are conducting a very important meeting, can you explain why we have been disturbed?” One of the men asks angrily at me, whilst one of the guards place our very special machine on the wall whilst closing the doors behind us.

“I’m not sure if you have heard the recent news, but there is a new Queen in town and I must tell you one thing, she doesn’t take too kindly to traitors.” I spit out walking around the table behind each man who sat in their chairs staring at each other, a few even gulping catching onto what I was saying rather quickly.

“I’m sorry ma’am, we’re unsure what you mean?” One brave man asks with a shaky voice, but his comment only caused me to begin to laugh from their dull attempt to cover up their crimes.

Macauley soon reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out the evidence we had to say otherwise, that soon being placed in my hands where I smile at each and every one of them once again.

“Then please explain this.” I say with a smile throwing the photo onto the middle of the table, each man looking over and in a split second, looked as though they had seen a ghost. “Now it appears to me that all of you have been taking orders from the wrong person.” I smile once again doing my rounds of the table knowing not a single one of them would try and hurt me as if they did, I didn’t only have Macaulay standing in this room with the means to fuck them up.

“Oh, there’s no point trying to mind-link anyone for help, due to this special device on the wall, they can’t hear you.” I say the ending in a sad little tone once I saw a few trying to mind-link but come back to a little confused and scared.

Now the realisation that these men were trapped and couldn’t cry to their fellow spies or their filthy leader Julia any longer most begin to panic getting out of their chairs. I watched it unfold around me with a smile on my face, each reaction really demonstrated what kind of men they were. Common things which were shouted is followed.

“You have to believe us ma’am, we didn’t have a choice but to help her!”

“Julia was the best Queen this Kingdom has ever seen; you are nothing but a worthless human!”

“If we help with your investigation, can we be let off?!”

By the end, I had enough watching as these grown men dwindled into acting like nothing but children. When one of the men attempted to run over to me angrily, Macauley steps forward throwing a very hard punch to the man’s face, this action sending him flying back and landing on the wooden table, which broke on impact. This event caused chaos as the guards behind us ran over and begin to apprehend each man, some attempted to fight but were nothing compared to the men holding them.

What did confuse me though was when the guards pulled a syringe out of their pocket and injected some green substance into their necks. One by one, each man cries out in pain whilst attempting to get it taken out.

“This liquid prevents each of them from attempting to mind-link Julia or any of their spy friends until they arrive at the dungeons where there are many devices in place to cause them never to be able to mind-link again.” Macaulay explains once he saw how confused I was watching as each guard did the same thing to each man.

“Aw, you only have each other to talk to.” I say putting on a fake sympathy look to each man, one in particular didn’t like this fact and began to spit at me, each of his attempts falling to the ground. “Take them away!” I shout to the guards who each bow their heads and begin to drag each official away, just kicking and screaming as they went, leaving only me and Macauley left in the room.

“One group down, many more to go.” He tells me with a smile, but I only click my fingers together with a smile on my own face.

“Bring it on.”
