Emily's POV.

We arrived at the royal garden and Calix gently lowered me back to my feet.

Something tells me this wasn't our destination, but when I glanced at Calix, he was removing his clothes.

A flush crept up my neck, my skin prickling with anticipation. Ever since the night Calix and I marked ourselves, we hadn't made love.

"Let me guess, we're going to be making love in the open air tonight?" I asked.

Calix, who was already bare-torsoed, nodded and also twitched his eyebrows as though undecided, before proceeding to remove his boots and then trousers, In a momerit, he stood stark-naked before and my poor breath hitched in a way it has never before as I stared down at the Strength coiled at his groin

Calix smirked "I was thinking it was high time I introduced you to my lycanthrope."

He nodded. "Are you ready?"

My heart thumped with excitement. I smiled "Yes, I am"

Calix threw back his head and a guttural growl escaped him. His ears elongated, jaws cracking and extending as fur sprouted all over his body. In a split second, he grew incredibly larger into the biggest lycan I'd ever seen.

And when he gazed down at me-his eyes were glowing green in the dark.

G-Gabriel? I stuttered.

"Mate!" he purred through our bond.

He crossed over to me and stopped at arm's length, as if giving me time to decide if I wanted physical contact or not

I chuckled and slowly reached forward with my hand. I touched his chest

The moment our skin connected, the bond between us flared. He mellowed with relief, while Rehya purred contentedly in my head.

Eager to exploit him, my hands traveled to the rest of his body his shoulders, his ams, his belly, unraveling every dip and Curve of him. "You're beautiful!" I gasped

He growled low, "And you're perfect," he replied.

Suddenly, he stepped back and crouched before me. I got the message! He wanted to straddle him.

With a delighted laugh, I swung a leg over. him and settled onto his back. I gripped onto him, my legs hugging his powerful torso

He bolted towards the tall fence and leaped. Effortlessly, he soared through the air, before landing in the forest beyond.

The wind whipped my face as we zipped past, the trees around thinning into a blur. The scent of pine and earth filled my nostrils, my ears picking the hooting of an owl in a distant.

We ran for hours and finally slowed before a river. The water shimmered under the moonlight, its silver surface reflecting the stars. I gasped at the view.

"It's lovely out here."

"Are you kidding? I love it!" I rasped.

He crouched and I slid down from his back. I knelt before the water and took a scoop, letting it fall back into the water

Glancing up, I scanned the expanse. Towering trees lined the banks and beyond them, the forest stretched in every direction

The only sounds I could hear were the rippling of the water and the occasional chirps of crickets. We were alone.

Suddenly, he wrapped his arm around me and pulled me to him. He gently twirled me and swayed us across the sandy and grassy terrain. I chuckled. "Oh, we're dancing."

A wolfish grin spilling on his lips, he nodded and dipped me low. He pulled me back up and spun me away, catching me before I stumbled. And brought me back into his arms.

My laughter echoed across the expanse, but tampered as he pulled me closer and his hands glided down my back, lower until they cupped my behind.

"Mater" he growled in my ears, causing Rehya to purr helplessly in my head

My body shuddered as he trailed his tongue over my mark, over and over again, sending jolts of heat through my veins.

The sounds of bones cracking filled the air. I reopened my eyes just as a guttural growl tore from his throat and he shifted back into the human that I knew. His eyes were brown again.

"Enjoy it?" I scoffed, a lazy smirk tugging at my lips. "I barely survived it."

I howled at the moon above, and when I opened my eyes, the world looked sharper, brighter-every scent and sound magnified Rehya stretched within me. flexing her powerful limbs before shaking out her fur

Calix smiled and took a step forward. You're beautiful, bells," he murmured through our bond.

A startled yelp escaped me as we tumbled together, rolling through the grass until I found myself pinned beneath him, Gabriel loomed over me, his glowing green eyes locking onto mine.

Rehya huffed, feigning annoyance, but I could feel her amusement. "Fine. You win this time."
