Chapter 96 Man Dressed as Woman
Grant seemed to guess what she was thinking and gave her a gentle nod.
Then he said to Natalie, "Got it, Mom. Amelia and I are on our way back."
"Okay."
After the call ended, Amelia felt quite excited.
She had already met four of the Richardson family's six sons. Each of them had different personalities, and she wondered what kind of person Lucas was.
However, despite having good qualifications, he was forced to play marginal roles in the entertainment industry for a long time because of a woman. His personality was probably similar to Liam's—frustrated and unfulfilled?
"Is Lucas Mom's third son?" Amelia asked.
"Yes."
"What's the name of the fourth brother who's doing medical aid abroad?"
"Hunter."
Amelia nodded thoughtfully.
Grant said with a hint of envy, "Lucas and Hunter are twins! You don't know, when we were kids and went out together, aside from you, they got the most attention! Because they look exactly alike."
Amelia was very surprised.
"We have twins in our family?"
"Yeah, mainly because Mom's family carries the twin gene. Mom herself has a twin sister too. But by the time I was born, Mom had already cut ties with them."
At this, Grant winked at her. "So, Amelia, if you have children in the future, there's a good chance you could have twins too!"
Amelia shook her head decisively.
"I don't want to have that many."
People of Natalie's generation believed that more children meant more happiness. Plus, Natalie had a strong desire for a daughter, which was why she had so many.
But by Amelia's generation, that mindset didn't exist.
Besides, Amelia didn't want to get married.
Having seen all kinds of people, she felt that being single was better.
Grant had a different view though.
"Having lots of kids makes things lively and fun, doesn't it? Just like our family."
Amelia glanced at him sideways. "You men don't have to give birth yourselves, so of course you think having more kids is good. Look at Mom—her health is so weak now precisely because she had too many children."
Hearing this, Grant nodded in agreement.
"That's true." During their chat, Grant couldn't help but ask, "Amelia, where did you learn your medical skills and painting techniques? How come you're good at everything you learn?"
Amelia glanced at him and said, "Parallel universes—do you believe that?"
Grant didn't believe it and said, "If you don't want to tell me, just don't. Don't lie to me. I'm pretty smart, you know."
Amelia smiled without saying anything.
Although she used a joking tone, she really wasn't lying to Grant.
She did learn these skills from parallel universes.
At fourteen, she escaped from the village and went out on her own.
That night, with nowhere to stay and caught in a snowstorm, she nearly froze to death.
It was something called the "Quest System" that pulled her into parallel universes.
She had to complete the tasks given by the Quest System in those universes to return alive to this world.
In various parallel universes, she learned skill after skill, each time completing the system's tasks excellently.
After completing a hundred tasks and traveling through a hundred parallel universes, she finally returned to this world.
Then, using the skills she learned in the parallel universes, she founded the Shadow Operations Division.
But no one would believe her if she told them this, so she kept it secret.
She only told others that she had many teachers, which was why she had so many skills.
In fact, she wasn't lying—she did have many teachers in the parallel universes.
Without exception, they were all the strongest experts in those worlds.
The car soon arrived back at The Richardson Manor.
When entering the living room, Amelia expected to see a handsome man like Grant and her other brothers, but instead, she saw a beautiful woman with golden wavy curls.
The woman was holding Natalie's hand, asking after her well-being.
Could this be Lucas's girlfriend?
Amelia's gaze quickly swept the living room, but she didn't see Lucas anywhere.
Only Liam and Mason were there, both looking helplessly at the blonde beauty.
"Amelia, you're back. Come here."
Natalie was the first to notice her and beckoned with a smile.
Amelia nodded and walked over with Grant.
"Mom, who is this?"
Natalie glanced at the blonde woman beside her, smiled helplessly, and said, "This is Lucas."
Amelia's eyes widened suddenly.
"Lucas?"
"Yes!" The blonde "woman" responded enthusiastically, but the voice that came out was distinctly male.
Amelia's eyes grew even wider.
Lucas was actually a man who liked to dress as a woman?
Probably because her expression was too shocked, Lucas didn't dare joke around anymore. He quickly pulled off the wig and stood up to explain, "Amelia, I'm not the kind of weird person you're thinking of. I just got back from the set and haven't had time to remove my makeup yet."
Only then did Amelia understand that cross-dressing wasn't Lucas's special hobby, but a work requirement.
Grant punched Lucas in the chest.
"Lucas, what kind of role were you playing? I didn't even recognize you just now."
Lucas shrugged.
"Can't help it—work requirement. A supporting actress in the production suddenly backed out, so my agent had me fill in. But it's not a big role. I've already wrapped up filming."
Amelia could tell that although Lucas seemed to be smiling casually, his eyes were full of suppressed frustration.
Forcing a male actor to play a female role wasn't something a normal agent would do.
It must be related to the Julie that Grant mentioned.
Amelia pretended not to know and smiled as she extended her hand to Lucas.
"Welcome home, Lucas."
Lucas wiped his hand before shaking Amelia's.
"I should be the one saying that to you. Welcome home, Amelia."
As he finished speaking, he withdrew his hand and pulled out a stack of autographed photos from his backpack.
"Young girls nowadays love following celebrities. I didn't know which stars you like, so after I found out you were coming back, I asked all the celebrity friends I could reach to sign photos for you."
Amelia reached out to take them.
The thick stack of autographed photos felt substantial.
Lucas wasn't doing well in the entertainment industry, so not everyone would necessarily give him respect.
But these autographed photos were clearly from currently popular stars. It couldn't have been easy for Lucas to get them.
Although Amelia never followed celebrities, she found these autographed photos very precious.
"Thank you, Lucas. I really like them."
She smiled with her eyes crinkling, already thinking about how to help Lucas.
For others, breaking through might be difficult.
But for her, it was a piece of cake.
She could solve it within three days.
