Chapter 93 Dare Not Have Thoughts About Him
Outside the operating room.
As time ticked by, anxious expressions reappeared on the faces of the McGinnis family.
"Why is there still no news after all this time?" Christina couldn't help asking.
Geraldo had always treated his daughter-in-law well, so Christina was genuinely worried about his safety.
Griffin was slightly calmer and said, "Heart surgery is no small matter. It's normal for it to take longer."
Kyle's words weren't as pleasant.
"I think it's because that woman went in and messed things up, that's why it's taking so long."
"Kyle." York warned coldly, "You can eat whatever you want, but you can't say whatever you want. Watch out or you'll get yourself in trouble."
York already looked fierce, and with his tan skin, when his face darkened he looked like a demon - quite scary.
Kyle's throat tightened, and he was actually scared into silence.
But he was still very unhappy inside.
Sure, Samuel had a big family and business, but Geraldo's situation was the McGinnis family's business - what right did he have to interfere?
And letting a woman who looked totally unreliable into the operating room.
If anything happened to Geraldo, even if it was Samuel, he would never let it go!
Yasmin, however, was becoming more and more relaxed.
The longer it took, the more serious the situation.
She pretended to comfort Kyle: "Mr. McGinnis is lucky, don't worry too much. He'll be fine."
Kyle felt a bit of warmth in his heart.
"Thank you, Yasmin, for being willing to wait with us."
"You're being too formal. The person inside is your grandfather, but he's also my teacher."
Yasmin spoke with such sincerity that she almost believed herself.
But just then, Jeremy came back.
Two hours ago, following Samuel's instructions, he had gone to question the two bodyguards who were with Geraldo.
The situation was pretty much the same as what Yasmin had said, but with some slight differences.
He felt there must be something suspicious, so he made another trip to the coffee shop and searched carefully there, which is why he was only getting back now.
After returning, Jeremy leaned down and whispered a few words in Samuel's ear.
Samuel's expression didn't change much, but his eyes swept coldly toward Yasmin.
Yasmin inexplicably felt a chill down her back and quickly turned her face away.
After seeing Samuel at The Sullivan Manor that time, she had developed some feelings for him.
After all, what girl wouldn't dream of being a princess with such a handsome and wealthy man?
But as her contact with Samuel increased, she didn't even dare to think about it anymore.
Samuel was like a thousand-year-old block of ice - not only couldn't you warm him up, but if you weren't careful, he'd crush you.
Now when she saw Samuel, her instinct was to avoid him.
But the hallway was only so big, it was hard to avoid him even if she wanted to.
She just heard footsteps approaching, then Jeremy's voice.
"Yasmin, I just asked Mr. McGinnis's two bodyguards. They said that at the entrance of Luminance Art Gallery, it wasn't Mr. McGinnis who approached you first, but you who chased after their car. Mr. McGinnis had no choice but to go with you to the coffee shop."
As soon as these words came out, Yasmin's face instinctively turned pale.
Griffin and Christina's eyes also swept toward her, with slight scrutiny in their gaze.
"May I ask, when it was clearly you who sought out Mr. McGinnis, why did you lie and say he came to you?" Jeremy continued questioning.
Before Yasmin could speak, Kyle beside her already spoke up for her.
"Sir, what's the point of asking these questions?"
He just didn't understand why these people kept picking on Yasmin.
Jeremy looked at Kyle's questioning gaze with amusement.
"I'm asking this for a reason, naturally."
York was more direct.
"Kyle, can't you understand what people are saying? We suspect that Mr. McGinnis's sudden attack is related to her!"
Kyle was stunned and instinctively retorted, "That's impossible! Heart disease - how could an attack be caused by someone?"
"Kyle." Yasmin tugged at Kyle's sleeve and said, "I did some things wrong today, so they have issues with me. That's normal. But please believe me, Mr. McGinnis's attack really has nothing to do with me."
Kyle nodded. "Of course I believe you."
"Yasmin, please answer my question first." Jeremy wouldn't let go of that question.
Yasmin suppressed her inner anger, stepped forward and said, "Yes, I lied!"
Jeremy raised his eyebrows. "Why did you lie?"
"Because I was embarrassed! I was asking Mr. McGinnis to forgive me at the time. How could I possibly be comfortable telling you about that? You were also at Luminance Art Gallery, so you should know why I was asking for his forgiveness. Now you know why I lied. Are you satisfied?"
Her face showed anger, grievance, and a touch of embarrassment - her emotions perfectly controlled.
Even Jeremy wondered if he was overthinking things.
But then Jeremy calmed down.
He opened his palm, displaying a pill in front of Yasmin.
"Have you seen this pill before?"
Seeing that pill, Yasmin's heart jumped.
She had clearly thrown that pill out the window - how did he find it?
Fortunately, she hid her surprise well and showed a confused expression.
"What kind of medicine is this? I've never seen it."
Anyway, such a small pill couldn't possibly have fingerprints on it.
Because she wasn't worried, Yasmin's face didn't show any panic.
Jeremy couldn't see anything from her micro-expressions, so he had to put the pill away and return to Samuel's side.
And Samuel, from beginning to end, hadn't said a single word.
Anyway, whether Yasmin was related to Geraldo's heart attack or not, once Geraldo woke up, the truth would naturally come out.
But his instinct told him that Yasmin couldn't be separated from Geraldo's attack.
Just then, the operating room door opened.
The doctor from earlier walked out, holding a piece of paper.
A group of people immediately rushed forward.
"Everyone, the patient's blood pressure has dropped very low. The situation is very dangerous. Please sign this critical condition notice first."
"Critical condition." Christina's lips turned pale, and she almost fainted.
Fortunately, Griffin supported her in time, preventing her from collapsing.
Christina's parents had passed away years ago, and Geraldo had always treated her like his own daughter.
She had never forgotten this kindness.
Now seeing the critical condition notice, her tears fell like broken pearls, unstoppable.
Kyle's eyes also reddened.
But as a man, he needed to be strong. He forced the tears back and grabbed the doctor to ask, "Excuse me, that Amelia who went in - what part of the surgery is she responsible for?"
The doctor said, "Dr. Richardson is now our lead surgeon."
"Lead surgeon?"
Kyle's eyelid twitched hard, then he lost control of his emotions and grabbed the doctor's collar.
"How old is she? How much experience does she have? How could you let her be the lead surgeon? My grandfather is in critical condition now - is it related to her? Did she make a mistake during the operation?"
