Chapter 51 Stealing His Fiancée?
The villa was noisy, and even after Amelia walked out for quite a while, she still couldn't escape the noise.
When it finally got a bit quieter, she pulled out her phone and called Byron.
"The transfer I mentioned to you before can officially start tomorrow."
Byron sounded pleased on the other end.
"Such a big factory could make good money even if you just rent it out. Grant really agreed to give it to you?"
"Yes."
"Well then, the Richardson family treats you pretty well."
Amelia didn't argue.
Except for Felix, who wasn't quite right in the head, everyone else was indeed pretty nice.
Especially Natalie.
The more time she spent with her, the more Amelia could feel what maternal love was like from Natalie.
She'd always been a light sleeper, so every night when Natalie quietly came to tuck her in, she noticed.
For someone who hadn't known what maternal love was since she could remember, this was as precious as treasure.
Byron said on the phone: "Since the Richardson family treats you fairly well, should I help investigate who framed Quinton and got him taken in for questioning?"
When he first learned Amelia was the Richardson family's daughter, he'd done a simple check on the Richardson family for her.
Quinton had indeed been framed.
But as for who exactly framed him, since Amelia hadn't given the word, he hadn't investigated deeply yet.
After a moment of silence, Amelia said: "Forget it, no need for now."
Based on Natalie's reaction, she felt there were many strange things about this matter.
Right now, quite a few eyes were watching Shadow Operations Division openly and secretly. If Shadow Operations Division made a move to investigate Quinton, it would actually draw attention and be even worse for Quinton.
Plus, she had reason to suspect that Quinton seemed to have gone to prison on purpose.
So she couldn't act rashly.
"Yes."
Byron just assumed Amelia didn't fully trust the Richardson family yet, so he didn't bring it up again.
"Then I'll make arrangements now and start the transfer tomorrow!"
"Good. They're just arriving, so conditions will be tough. Tonight, treat everyone well for me."
"Yes!"
After the call ended, Amelia's gaze turned to the morning star in the distance.
Tonight's morning star was especially bright.
She was planning to stay outside a bit longer, delay a little more before going back to avoid dealing with those so-called rich young ladies.
But after standing there for less than two seconds, she suddenly sensed something wrong.
An unfamiliar presence was approaching her!
Her brow furrowed, but she didn't turn around immediately. Instead, she continued looking up at the sky in the same position.
Not far away, Efrain was carefully moving his steps, slowly approaching Amelia bit by bit.
At first, when he hadn't yet arrived at The Richardson Manor, he was full of reluctance.
Who would want to marry some country bumpkin from the countryside?
But he didn't dare disobey the Young family's orders, because he was still waiting for Billy and Felicity to help pay off his gambling debts, so he could only come despite his displeasure.
Until he saw Amelia, surrounded by everyone like the moon among stars.
The socialites who came to the Richardson family today, though not exactly breathtakingly beautiful, were all top-tier beauties.
But with Amelia among them, not only did she not pale in comparison, she outshone them all.
With just one look, Efrain was captivated.
So when he saw Amelia go outside, he made an excuse to end his conversation with an acquaintance and followed her.
Seeing he'd gotten right behind Amelia and she seemed completely unaware, he reached out to embrace her.
But his hand had barely extended and hadn't even touched Amelia when she threw him over her shoulder, slamming him hard onto the ground.
He grimaced in pain, and just as he managed to get up from the ground, the next second, a cold dagger was pressed against his throat.
"Who are you!"
Efrain had been thrown so hard his ribs hurt, and with a dagger at his throat, his instinct was to get angry.
But seeing that extraordinarily beautiful face in the moonlight, his anger dissipated at once.
She was beautiful, so whatever she did was justified.
Efrain switched to a smile instead.
"Don't misunderstand, I'm not a bad person."
"Speak! Who exactly are you! Or this knife in my hand might pierce through your throat!"
Amelia's eyes narrowed slightly, cold intent flashing in them.
But Efrain only found it charming.
Amelia was not only beautiful, her temperament was different from other women too.
He really liked it!
"I'm your fiancé, just call me Efrain." Efrain said shamelessly.
"Fiancé?"
Amelia found it laughable: "I didn't even know I had a fiancé named Efrain."
Nominally, she did have two fiancés.
One was Samuel, the other was Isaac.
What was this Efrain thing?
Efrain stared at the dagger in Amelia's hand and said: "I'm Efrain. My uncle and aunt sent me. She said you'll become my wife in the future."
Amelia asked with disgust: "And who are they?"
"My uncle is Billy. They should have mentioned me to you, right?" Efrain asked tentatively.
"Billy?" Amelia raised an eyebrow, her eyes full of mockery: "Looks like Felicity works very efficiently. She's already found a fiancé for me."
But Efrain's heart leaped with joy.
"Aunt Felicity really did mention me to you. Now you can put the knife down, right? I really am your future fiancé."
Seeing that Amelia still hadn't lowered the dagger, he quickly continued: "Don't worry, as long as you marry me, I'll definitely treat you well! Whatever you want in the future, I'll buy it for you. Also, didn't your father get taken in for questioning? My Young family has power and influence, we can help bring your father out."
Amelia just found it ridiculous.
She was about to call Holden directly to throw him out when a deep voice suddenly rang out—
"Seems like the position of Ms. Richardson's fiancé has quite fierce competition."
Both instinctively looked toward where the voice came from, and saw in the moonlight a face as handsome as a god come into view.
He wore a black suit, with a faint smile on his face.
But those gem-like captivating eyes stared at Efrain as cold as ice.
It was none other than Samuel.
Seeing who it was, Efrain's eyes suddenly widened.
"Mr. Crawford."
Samuel tilted his head, and Jeremy and York from behind him stepped forward, directly forcing Efrain to kneel before Samuel.
Efrain's knees hit the ground hard with a dull thud.
He gasped in pain but didn't dare show any anger. Instead, he put on an ingratiating smile.
"Mr. Crawford, what's the meaning of this? I don't know what I did wrong?"
Samuel stepped forward, staring intently at Efrain's face.
"You didn't do anything wrong. It's just that you wanted to steal my fiancée."
"Fiancée?"
Efrain whipped his head around, looking at Amelia in disbelief.
This Amelia who came back from the countryside was actually Samuel's fiancée?
Impossible!
If she was Samuel's fiancée, why would Felicity have him marry Amelia?
Besides, how could the Crawford family take a liking to the now-fallen Richardson family?
And marry Amelia, who came back from the countryside, rather than Yasmin, who'd been raised in luxury since childhood?
"Mr. Crawford, isn't there some misunderstanding here? Ms. Richardson is my fiancée."
