Chapter 399 Pregnancy

Chapter 399 Pregnancy

But he thought to himself that they would leave sooner or later anyway, so it would be better if they left before he got used to living with them.

That way he wouldn't feel lonely afterward.

However, it's been more than a week, and Amelia and Samuel still hadn't left.

Samuel went out every morning and came home in the evening, like clockwork.

Meanwhile, Amelia focused on studying different dishes.

From time to time, she would cut some fresh seasonal fruit and bring it to his study.

In the evenings, she would watch the evening news with him right on time.

In the mornings, Amelia would also place the day's financial newspaper next to his breakfast.

Forget daughter-in-law, even a real daughter would rarely be this thoughtful.

Seeing that he was getting used to this kind of life, Stanley finally couldn't help himself and went downstairs to find Amelia.

At that moment, Amelia was wearing disposable gloves, cutting and arranging a watermelon on a plate.

She was good at cooking, and her knife skills were even better, she had actually carved the watermelon into the shape of a basket.

Seeing him come down, Amelia smiled.

"Dad, you don't really like eating fruit, so I carved this to make it look nice. Maybe you'll have more appetite for it. Should I bring it upstairs or would you like to eat it down here?"

Stanley waved his hand, telling her not to bother.

"I have something to ask you."

"Okay, just a moment, let me wash my hands."

Amelia quickly washed her hands and came back, sitting down on the sofa oposite him.

"Dad, what did you want to say?"

Stanley didn't beat around the bush and asked directly, "When are you two going back?"

Amelia looked confused. "Going back where?"

"Back to your own home!"

"The house in Goldenvale is my home, but this is also my home. Dad, are you tired of me and trying to kick me out?"

Stanley's expression became a bit unnatural.

He actually didn't find Amelia and Samuel annoying.

Before, he might have found them annoying, but now, with Amelia caring for him so much, he wasn't a cold-hearted person, he was moved too.

But still, he remained stubborn.

"Having you two at home is really annoying."

Amelia didn't get angry and said with a smile, "I do talk a lot. I can't help it, if I don't talk, I feel uncomfortable."

"Then you two should set a date to go back soon, so I don't have to worry about it."

But Amelia changed the subject. "Even though I'm pretty noisy, I'm afraid it's going to get even noisier."

Stanley frowned slightly and asked, "What do you mean?"

Amelia lowered her head, her gaze falling on her still-flat belly.

"Dad, I'm pregnant. There's a baby in my belly."

Stanley froze, then was overjoyed.

"Really? How many months? Does Samuel know?"

Amelia shook her head.

"He doesn't know yet. I just found out half an hour ago. I still need to go to the hospital for further tests to confirm. So I was thinking I'd tell him when he gets back from the company."

Stanley couldn't sit still anymore and stood up immediately.

"What are we waiting for? Didn't you say you need to go to the hospital? Let's go now. I'll go with you. And I'll call Samuel. No matter how important things are at the company, nothing is more important than my grandchild!"

Amelia smiled. "It might not be a boy."

"Boy or girl, doesn't matter, they're both my precious grandchild."

Before, he might have preferred a son.

But now that he was older, he didn't think that way anymore.

What good were sons?

Not thoughtful at all, say a few words to them and they'd give you attitude.

Daughters were the most caring.

"Then let me change into something more convenient for the examination."

"Okay, I'll have someone get the car ready."

Stanley quickly went to arrange for the car.

Since Amelia was most likely pregnant, she couldn't ride in the sedan they used before, the chassis wasn't stable enough.

He had someone drive out a van from the garage.

When Amelia saw the huge van, she paused. "Dad, won't this car be hard to park at the hospital?"

"No! I've already contacted people. The doctor will come out to meet you."

"There's no need to make such a big deal out of it."

"My grandchild is worth making a big deal over! Besides, is this really that big a deal?"

As he spoke, he helped Amelia slowly get into the car.

Amelia found it a bit funny.

She wasn't even showing yet, there was no need to be this careful.

But Stanley meant well, so she cooperated and was extra careful.

Once in the car, she asked, "What about Samuel?"

"He's on his way from the company. He'll go straight to the hospital to wait for us."

"Okay."

Amelia nodded. She had just fastened her seatbelt when Samuel's call came through.

"Honey!"

He wanted to say something but suddenly didn't know what to say.

Amelia held her phone and smiled. "We can't confirm it yet. We have to go to the hospital. Don't rush, drive slowly, safety first."

"I know. I'm having Jeremy drive, not driving myself."

Right now, he really valued his life.

Because Amelia had saved his life, and he wanted to protect it well.

"Then we'll see you at the hospital."

"Okay."

After hanging up, Amelia turned her head and saw Stanley on the phone with someone.

As soon as the call connected, he said, "Get a designer over here to design a nursery. Boy or girl? We don't know yet, so just design two."

Amelia was speechless.

Stanley saw her looking over and said, "Better to prepare early. Better safe than sorry."

He had been feeling too idle lately, and now he had plenty of things to keep him busy.

Amelia was worried the pregnancy test might not be accurate and didn't want Stanley to get his hopes up for nothing, so she tried to prepare him mentally.

"It might not be real. Sometimes home tests can be wrong."

"We'll need it sooner or later anyway." Stanley's one sentence blocked all of Amelia's arguments.

She could only let Stanley busy himself.

The car drove smoothly and steadily, taking a full hour to reach the agreed-upon hospital.

Samuel had been waiting at the hospital entrance for a while.

Seeing the car arrive, he rushed forward and gently helped her.

"Let me help you out of the car."

After helping her down, he had Jeremy push over a wheelchair.

Amelia's head was spinning.

"That's not necessary."

"It is. You're not just one person now, you're two. We need to be extra careful."

Amelia shook her head.

She thought Stanley was exaggerating, but Samuel was even worse.

In the end, of course, she didn't sit in the wheelchair.

She thought it would be embarrassing.

The doctors were already waiting there.

And not just one, even the hospital director had come.

But they really didn't need so many doctors. She just needed a urine test and blood test, there was no need for all these people.

Amelia felt very awkward.

But looking at Samuel and Stanley, they both had expressions that said "this is how it should be."

However, thanks to the director personally handling it, the results came out in the shortest time possible.

"Congratulations! You're pregnant."

The director personally congratulated them and explained, "You're seven weeks gone. For specific details, I'll have the OB-GYN explain everything to you."

He then turned to congratulate Stanley and Samuel.

"Congratulations, Mr. Samuel Crawford, you're going to be a father."

"Mr. Stanley Crawford, congratulations, you're going to be a grandfather next year."
