Chapter 395 Clumsy Acting
Chapter 395 Clumsy Acting
The Bloody Syndicate incident caused a huge stir internationally, and the news headlines in Phoenicia were constantly dominated by stories about Bloody Syndicate.
Some people learned that the island where Bloody Syndicate had their incident was near the private island Samuel bought, so quite a few nosy people speculated whether Samuel might also be involved.
But Samuel and Amelia only returned after peacefully finishing their honeymoon, which cleared up many people's suspicions.
Their company employees never knew that Samuel and Amelia had been in danger, so the company kept running smoothly without any problems.
Worth mentioning is that during Samuel's incident, many company matters were handled by Rex.
He managed everything perfectly, without a single issue.
Samuel had known early on that Stanley wanted Rex to follow him.
This incident also let him see that Rex had real ability.
So he asked Rex what he thought, and after confirming Rex was willing to work for him, he brought him into his inner circle.
Just like that, he gained another capable person by his side.
But Stanley felt lonelier than before.
He didn't need to be busy with work anymore, and there were few people around to talk to, so he often sighed to himself.
After Amelia learned about the situation from the servants at The Crawford Manor, she discussed with Samuel that once Sharon's matter was settled, they would move to Thornfield for a while.
With Rex stationed at Thornfield headquarters these days, Samuel originally didn't plan to go back in the short term.
He knew that compared to Thornfield, Amelia preferred Goldenvale.
Not that she liked the city more, but because her family was in that city.
But since Amelia brought up moving there for a while on her own, he didn't say much, just said, "Whatever you want."
He knew Amelia was very considerate, caring not only about her own parents but also about his father.
It's just that his relationship with Stanley was distant, and no matter how hard Amelia tried, their bond wouldn't deepen much.
But he wouldn't discourage Amelia. If she wanted to do it, he'd let her do it.
He'd just go along with her wishes.
So Sharon's matter was immediately put on the agenda.
The day before going to Sharon's house, Amelia "rehearsed" with Sharon again to make sure their "act" wouldn't go wrong.
Soon the next day, Amelia and Natalie took Sharon out, with Byron driving, heading to Sharon's home.
Sharon's home was on Pine Valley Way, near Goldenvale Autumn Leaf University, in a great location with high housing prices.
This house wasn't bought by Sharon's family, but was given by Quinton after he became successful - he gave all his relatives an apartment.
Quite a few of the Richardson family relatives lived in this complex.
The three of them ran into more than one relative on the way.
Soon they arrived at Sharon's front door.
Byron rang the doorbell for them, but there was no response inside.
After pressing it two more times, an annoyed "Who is it?" finally came from inside, with a very unfriendly tone.
"We're bringing Sharon back," Byron called out loudly.
Someone inside cursed, then finally opened the door.
The one who opened it was Sharon's brother, Garry Richardson.
"Why are you back?" Garry didn't care about the others, just stared at Sharon with unfriendly eyes. "Weren't you supposed to be dead?"
The three of them didn't know what to say.
Instead, it was Sharon who, probably used to Garry's terrible attitude, spoke calmly, "I'm not dead. Amelia saved me."
Garry frowned and finally looked at Amelia and the others.
"If she's not dead, you're not thinking of taking that money back, are you?"
Before Amelia could speak, Garry continued, "I'm telling you, there's no way we're giving the money back, but you can have this person!"
He didn't care about Sharon at all.
As if she wasn't his sister, just a toy he could give away anytime.
Sharon's expression didn't change much, but her face clearly turned pale.
She was still a child and couldn't completely control her emotions yet.
Amelia put a hand on Sharon's shoulder, using this to tell her that she still had them.
Sharon curved her lips, forcing a smile.
"Where are your parents?" They all chose to ignore Garry.
After all, guardianship of Sharon wasn't in Garry's hands.
"My dad's at work! My mom's probably playing bridge somewhere."
Amelia frowned slightly.
Last night, Amelia had already told Sharon's parents they would come over, but now they were nowhere to be seen.
What else could it be but deliberately avoiding them?
And Garry saying these things clearly meant his parents had told him something.
"Fine!" Amelia turned to Natalie. "Since he's so busy he doesn't even have time to see us, why don't we just have Dad fire him? Then he'll have time to see us."
"Good idea." Natalie nodded cooperatively, pretending to make a phone call.
Garry panicked.
His dad's job was very easy - just go to the company to clock in every day and get a monthly salary of thirty thousand dollars.
If he lost this job, he'd never find another one this easy.
And Garry worried that if his father lost his job, he wouldn't have pocket money to go out and pick up girls.
But clearly someone was more anxious than Garry. Soon Sharon's parents Daryl and Elise's voices came from inside the house.
"Garry, who's here?"
The two came running out from the bedroom inside with "confused" looks on their faces.
Seeing the three of them with Sharon, both Daryl and Elise showed very surprised expressions.
"When did you get here? Why didn't you come in and sit?" Daryl said.
Elise hit Garry's arm.
"The guests and Sharon are back, why didn't you call us?"
Before Garry could say anything, the two quickly invited Amelia and the others to come in and sit.
Their acting was very clumsy - even Natalie, who was more innocent, thought it was too obvious.
Natalie couldn't help saying, "Garry said you weren't home. I thought your work at the company was so busy you couldn't take care of things at home. If that's really the case, then Quinton would be at fault and should quickly set you free."
Daryl and Elise's expressions stiffened.
Elise was first to speak, "It's all Garry's fault! All day long just playing video games, doesn't even know if we're home or not."
Garry thought to himself, wasn't I just doing what you told me to do, sending them away?
But since it concerned his pocket money, he wasn't stupid enough to expose his parents. He just stood up and went back to his room.
"We've spoiled Garry. Don't hold it against a kid," they said.
Amelia smiled but not quite, "Garry's twenty this year, right? When are you planning to throw his twentieth birthday party? My mom and I both happen to be free lately. If we haven't missed the birthday, we'd love to come get a piece of cake."
Elise wasn't stupid - she understood Amelia was mocking that word "kid."
Twenty years old wasn't a kid anymore.
The smiles on Daryl and Elise's faces became even more stiff.
But Amelia didn't come this trip to mock them. She quickly changed the subject and stopped talking about Garry.
